    Breakfast

Good food nice staff homely environment feels like grandmas house, food came out fast

Let me start off by saying this is not my first trip to Grandma's kitchen. Been here a few times throughout the years and to be honest they're the only ones whose biscuits and gravy I could even think about eating outside of my dad's and my own... without being said breakfast was amazing. I had an omelette my mom had chicken fried steak and everything was absolutely delicious as per usual. The ambience of this restaurant is of a literal grandmas house a grandma who is obsessed with owls. (In a good way of course) LOL Service is of a very busy breakfast diner. Everybody still extremely nice and eager to help. If you were in the area and want a good breakfast, definitely stop by. You will not be disappointed.

Went for a little drive to grab some breakfast. We tend to like hole in the wall diners and when you name something Grandma's Kitchen, ya better believe we're there! Also it gave us an excuse to be in Monterey..SCORE! This place is not that far from the freeway and seemed to be nestled amongst a row of motels so that's a plus for those traveling and looking for some food that will stick to your bones. It's an intimate space. Adorned with owl figurines and paintings. There are booths, tables and a counter with stools. We were greeted right away and instructed to sit where we wanted. It seemed like there was only one waitress and one cook. It was a Friday morning and most tables were taken. Although there was only one waitress..she was pleasant, smiled, apologized as people called in and most importantly efficient. Once our order was taken it only took maybe 20 mins to get our food. What we ordered: 1. Western omelet with wheat toast, hashbrowns and a side of gravy. 2. Pancake special: 1 buttermilk pancake as big as your face. 1 egg over hard and 2 sausage patties. With a side of hashbrowns. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his omelet. He said it had the right amount of cheese to veggie and ham ratio. We always order our hashbrowns crispy and these were made to perfection. The country gravy was thick and flavorful. My pancake was fluffy and yum. Was unable to finish it. The sausage patties were delicious and I kind of suspect these are locally made. They definitely aren't the frozen kind. Bathrooms were clean. When I went to the bathroom as we suspected the cook was in there alone. You would never tell as quick as the tables were getting served. As long as we were there no one was sending anything back, so he was in there doing what he does. Seemed like plenty locals were dining. People greeting each other like old friends. It was nice. It was home. Grandma's Kitchen is a gem. The people who work there are exactly whom you want running your establishment if you want repeat customers! We'll be back!

S.O.S over Biscuits with Hashbrowns and a side of two scrambled eggs

First thing that I experienced when I walked in was a comfortable warm area with many bird decorations, we were told to sit wherever we would like so we chose a corner booth. The service got to us after a bit, so we had time to choose what we all wanted. I decided to take time after ordering to go to the bathroom, which was very clean and stocked. Our food came out, and let me just say, it was delicious as heck and the portions are fulfilling. The waffles were great, the S.O.S was amazing, and the hash browns and eggs were great. I'd definitely recommend this place for breakfast if you're traveling or if you are a regular visitor.

If you grew up in the sixties and seventies this will be nostalgic. Time capsule diner from my childhood. A doctors appointment put us in the neighborhood around lunchtime, read a few Yelp reviews and bam! we're back in Grandmas kitchen. Friendly greeting at the door, waitress was prompt and professional. Our food came out surprisingly quick. No lag time the food was hot. My eggs were perfectly cooked along with my hash browns. My biscuits and gravy were leaning towards bland as was my wife's breakfast burrito but nothing salt, pepper and salsa didn't fix. Overall a positive experience, pretty much what we expected. Last words... you go Grandma!

HIDDEN GEM!! While staying at the Pacific Inn, we decided to walk to Grandmas for breakfast. BEST DECISION EVER MADE!! Service : 5 stars Food: PRICELESS ... how is it possible that even the water was good?!?! I mean.. cooooome on! Ambience: literally a mom & pop restaurant! Make sure you visit next time you're in Monterey/Seaside/Salinas

Thought this place was fine for breakfast. It was pretty average breakfast food and the biscuit was really dry. The hash browns were so good though, I should have just ordered a side of them for my meal. A little bit expensive for breakfast food. It also took about an hour for our food to come out. The bathroom here was also so gross, I would not recommend using it unless you really had to.

Walked in here with 6 to 8 people on a busy weekend where there was a festival at the fairgrounds. Only one waitress working but she was crushing it. Didn't have to wait for a table just sat down at one large one by the door that could fit all of us. They have a pretty big menu, prices are high for items though, I think it was about 18 or $19 for my eggs Benedict. But portions were big, staff was friendly, food came out in a timely manner overall. Definitely some older diner feels in there, they had the booths which I always like. Bit of a older establishment seems like it may have been a house back in the day. Nothing out of the ordinary here.

    Owls were cool.

He saw a review that said Googie had the best fish, so it needed to be seen to. We brought the family here for a birthday dinner and were blown away at the portion sizes, which were worth the price. My fiancé ordered the halibut, dad got the calamari, mom got the seafood linguine, and I got the salmon. All the seafood was cooked to perfection, and I personally appreciated that the vegetables were cooked just right. Neither crunchy nor mushy. Servers were very attentive and friendly, and the ambience was very calm. We were perfectly content with dinner and made a note to come ready for dessert next time. As we were about to pay the bill, someone at the table mentioned a birthday, and our server insisted we sit a while and proceeded to take back the bill before we could get our card down. He came back with a crème brûlée with the service team by his side, and the dining room proceeded to sing Happy Birthday, which was a nice way to cap off the evening! This is definitely a spot we'll be saving for our next adventure down in Seaside.

The salmon fillet was huge, the eggs poached perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was divine. Only compliant is I couldn't finish it as it was so much food. Good problem, really. Hubby got the calamari steak sandwich. This is a beautiful 'piece of meat' breaded and fried - absolutely delicious. Having a breaded steak between two pieces of bread was redundant - so we sliced the steak into ribbons and simply ate as an appetizer, dipping the slices in the best tartar sauce I have ever had. We cannot wait to come back - but will only order one entree because they are so big (not complaining).

Looked on Yelp and Rosine's came up. Easy walk from where we were and excited to try it after reading reviews by others. Well what wasn't mentioned in the reviews or on their menu is that Clam Chowder is only served on Fridays . We found this out after we were seated and served something to drink, now we are disappointed but didn't want leave because couldn't find anywhere else close by that served Clam Chowder other than places on Fishermans Wharf. So we tried the calamari steak sandwich but ordered it on grilled sourdough rather than the French roll It is normally served on. Came with sweet potato fries as an option. Sandwich was good but sweet potato fries were kind of rubbery. The salad was good with plenty of chicken in it and very tasty honey mustard dressing. Menu had a lot of options including some delicious looking humongous layer cakes for Il dolce. Our serve was friendly and accommodating on the bread change for the sandwich, prices were reasonable and it looked like they offer a full bar menu. Bright and simple dining room part of the old architecture of downtown Monterey, with outside dining as well. We enjoyed our meal but really wanted the Clam Chowder, I really thought that being a coastal fishing town that Clam Chowder would be a daily dish everywhere and not just on the wharf. Oh well.... Rosines we will have to return to try your Clam Chowder, maybe next time on a Friday. Bon Appetitto
