Went to Rosine's for breakfast, four in our party. We were immediately greeted with a smile and offered a choice of table or booth. Our server was great and checked in on us a few times and she refilled our waters. The food was fantastic! Huge portions and very reasonably priced. We had the Scramble, blueberry pancakes and vegetable omelette. We devoured the food it was so delicious! Will definitely return when in the area. The interior and the restrooms were very clean. Stopped by Rosine's Restaurant while visiting Monterey. The service was great throughout the meal, and it's easy to see why this place is so popular with both locals and tourists. We started with a cup of their famous minestrone soup, which was solid. It was hearty and comforting. For the entrée, I ordered the lasagna with meatballs. Unfortunately, it was just okay. The lasagna itself wasn't bad, but it just tasted like your average lasgna. The bigger disappointment was the meatballs. They were cold, not tender, and lacked seasoning. The highlight of the meal was the Lemon Blueberry Cake. This dessert was absolutely divine. It was light, moist, and not overly sweet. The balance between the lemon and blueberry was excellent. After a fairly average entrée, the cake completely saved the meal and ended things on a high note. We were able to get a last minute reservation at this place for our anniversary dinner, and I am so happy we did! They had plenty of patio seating so we were able to bring our dog with us to join in on the fun. I ordered the Fettuccini Alfredo, and it was delicious. I personally love when my pasta has so much cheese so this place did not disappoint. The portion itself was huge and with 4 prices of garlic bread I knew there was no way I could finish my whole plate. The food came out hot and tasted like warm, delicious comfort food. My husband ordered the burger and he said it was very good. Not pictured here (since I got too excited and started eating before taking a picture) is the chocolate wafer cake we ordered. I have to say this was the star of the show. I am not a big cake person but this cake was something else. The chocolate whipped frosting was so light and not too sweet. Celebrated our friend's bday here today which happens to be Memorial Day. I took the initiative to reserve a table as I know it'll be super busy. And boy I was right! The place is full of patrons and tourists. We were seated 4 minutes upon arrival. We all love this place and all our foods came Out to our liking. Everything is very good here. The location, easy parking, the food, the service - we had a very nice time. I got the salmon Florentine eggs Benedict - wow! The salmon fillet was huge, the eggs poached perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was divine. Only compliant is I couldn't finish it as it was so much food. Good problem, really. Hubby got the calamari steak sandwich. This is a beautiful 'piece of meat' breaded and fried - absolutely delicious. Having a breaded steak between two pieces of bread was redundant - so we sliced the steak into ribbons and simply ate as an appetizer, dipping the slices in the best tartar sauce I have ever had. We cannot wait to come back - but will only order one entree because they are so big (not complaining). read more

My family and I come back to this restaraunt almost every single year. This is a great diner that I highly recommend bringing a group of people too. The meals are affordable and prepared in good quality with plenty of flavor no matter what you select, however don't expect a high end quality-- just something a little more above what most diners serve. One of the best parts of this restaraunt is probably the cakes -- they're big (bang for your buck moment)! The service here is attentive, professional, and polite. I think we've had kind servers here every visit and never had any issues from them. It's quite a confusing place to work in with how bustling it can be sometimes-- so hats off to the Waiting staff! The funny thing is their breakfast menu rolls into the afternoon which is rare; so if you really still want breakfast, they'll make it for you. The most notable fact to this place is that Guy Fieri did stop by here in 2014. He loved their minestrone soup and lasagna. 7/13/25 Zach and I decided to get brunch at Rosine's before heading back home. Since we had Coco, we requested an outdoor table. There was plenty of outdoor seating, but the tables and the seats were covered with lots of bird poo. We chose the table with the least amount of bird poo, but maybe the restaurant should try to clean the outdoor tables and chairs every now and then...our host didn't seem bothered by it which we thought was weird. Here's what we got: - Crab avocado benedict (mine) - Crispy hot chicken sandwich with onion rings (his) We waited about 15 minutes for the food to come out. Of the two plates, the crab benedict was actually good. The chicken was advertised as hot and crispy, but it was neither of those two unfortunately. The chicken was pretty bland and unappetizing. Service is always efficient and friendly. The pasta with meat sauce was delicious though slightly salty. Generous portions. Calamari now comes with French fries. Can be somewhat noisy but the dining room is fairly spacious. They have a few tables that boarder the outside dining patio which seem great for California dining especially with pleasant weather. Truly the best family restaurant in Monterey. The service we received on my daughter's 2nd birthday (May 16, 2026) was out of this world. Our waitress, an older woman with chestnut brown hair (bless her - i'm so sorry i forgot your name!) was our waitress and she KILLED it! We were a party of 9 and she wasn't even phased - a true sign of a seasoned woman in the game! We were seated promptly, the menu was extensive! There is truly something for everyone to enjoy. Our food was piping hot and ready in no time at all. Everything was cooked perfectly, and so delicious. We all shared slices of cake for dessert as well. I'm still dreaming of the coconut cake. Lastly, the restaurant sang happy birthday to my two year old AND a 96 year old! It was such a beautiful way to complete our first family day trip to the aquarium! Thank you Rosines! We had a taste for Clam Chowder after walking down to the Cannery and Aquarium but wanted to try some near where we were staying and already tried some on the Fishermans wharf on our previous visit here in Monterey. Well what wasn't mentioned in the reviews or on their menu is that Clam Chowder is only served on Fridays . We found this out after we were seated and served something to drink, now we are disappointed but didn't want leave because couldn't find anywhere else close by that served Clam Chowder other than places on Fishermans Wharf. So we tried the calamari steak sandwich but ordered it on grilled sourdough rather than the French roll It is normally served on. Came with sweet potato fries as an option. Sandwich was good but sweet potato fries were kind of rubbery. The salad was good with plenty of chicken in it and very tasty honey mustard dressing. Menu had a lot of options including some delicious looking humongous layer cakes for Il dolce. Our serve was friendly and accommodating on the bread change for the sandwich, prices were reasonable and it looked like they offer a full bar menu. Bright and simple dining room part of the old architecture of downtown Monterey, with outside dining as well. We enjoyed our meal but really wanted the Clam Chowder, I really thought that being a coastal fishing town that Clam Chowder would be a daily dish everywhere and not just on the wharf. Oh well.... Food: Potato skins were good, happy they put the pico de gallo on the side. Potato and bacon were crispy. Lasagna - it has a nice meat:cheese ratio. I read reviews that it was salty & I thought it was seasoned well. The sauce was balanced. Porcini ravioli - this was the meh factor. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad. It was lacking a sauce. Had a family dinner here while visiting Monterey. This was a place that we saw on yelp but was also recommended by our hotel staff. We made reservations and we're seated right on time. The menu is varied with chicken, fish, meat, pasta, salad, salads, and more. They even have a kids menu which makes this place family friendly. They have cocktails and wine and beer. We had paper planes and martinis which were hreat and filled to the brim. We were able to make slight substitutions on Service was fast, portions are ample. The chicken piccata was done exceptionally well. Even though we were stuffed, we had to have a piece of their huge cakes. We chose the cookie batter cake, which has a biscotti cookie on top. Five of us ate it and all of us enjoyed it. We couldn't even finish it between the five of us. Highly recommend this place. We were so busy diving into our food. 10/10 Definitely the best cakes I've ever had! If you're craving a truly good cake, this is the place to go. Every slice was amazing, well-filled, and clearly made with care. We started with the Chocolate Coconut Cake, and wow highly recommend. If you love Almond Joys, this cake is a must. It has the perfect amount of coconut shavings, almonds, and rich chocolate. Sweet without being overwhelming, incredibly satisfying, and super moist with a generous amount of filling. Absolute standout. The Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake was also very good. If you're a Reese's fan, this one's for you. Topped with Reese's pieces, peanuts, and a peanut butter drizzle, very indulgent. As a peanut butter lover, I definitely wished there were even more peanuts, but that's just me! I came here one weekday evening for an early dinner at around 4:30pm and it was fairly busy - may be because of the holidays. Anyways, the server recommended their pastas. I got the lasagna with a cup of soup for an extra $1. For the soup, they were serving cream of mushroom or minestrone. I got the minestrone. From their menu, I saw that they were featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, where Guy Fieri tried their lasagna and their minestrone soup. Anyways, for the minestrone soup, it was very flavorful and delicious. I was surprised to find pieces of beef in the soup, but it also had a variety of ingredients too. For the lasagna, it was a huge portion. Pretty good, I loved the flavors of the lasagna. It had a nice sauce but a little salty for me. This also came with some garlic bread on a sesame bread. Lastly, they also have a bunch of desserts they make at their dessert case. You can go up to the case to pick which one you want. I tried their caramel cake - which had 6 layers where it was cake, caramel/syrup, cake, frosting. However - it was too sweet for me - but I tend to like things not as sweet. The cake itself was yummy and not too sweet if I didn't eat it with the frosting. I also got their lavender lemonade which had a nice lavender flavor with lemon. Nice refreshing balance for the meal. They had a large selection of items and served breakfast until 3pm. I ordered the Club with Garden salad instead of fries. The salad arrived first. It was topped with carrots and croutons with a side of ranch. Basic salad, but the ingredients were fresh. The sandwich arrived about 10 min later. It was stuffed with turkey, bacon, avacado, and lettuce. It was a monster and broke my fast like a champ. As for service, my waitress was nice but I think she may have had too many tables. It took a while for her to take my order and she only asked if I needed anything when she brought my bill. Someone else ended up processing my payment as she was still busy. Was scrolling through Yelp to find a place to eat and over heard about this place while walking around in the city. Total worth the visit! I ordered the salmon Florentine with a side of their Food Network, known beef minestrone. A cup is too small for a flavor this big, get the bowl! The salmon dish was delicious and the sides were so yummers! I was a hungry hippo but this would of been enough to go home with. The broccoli cheesey breaded thing and carrots was a good marriage to this dish. Ordered the German chocolate cake and it's very rich. Huge slice with multi layers. Stopped by for a late lunch and had such a good experience! We were prompted seated at a booth, which was so cozy and decorated for the fall holidays. Ordered the Calamari Strips and Chips for a starter and had the Angel Hair Pasta with Shrimp as the main. The calamari was really easy to eat, and it didn't have the chewy texture that you'd normally expect of calamari. The angel hair was really flavorful without being overly salty or oily, which I really liked. I also tried a bite of Parmesan Chicken from the table, and that was piping hot and very tasty as well. We had to order a slice of cake to share at the end, which was the Chocolate Truffle. All in all, everything was delicious, and the portion sizes were really generous as well (especially the cake)! Came in for a late lunch. It is conveniently located on the corner, but you may have a problem locating parking. They have parking on the street you just gave to drive slow and see if anyone is leaving. They have an area to sit outside but we sat inside. They do take reservations. It is a hopping place but they do seem to sit everyone fairly quickly. We were seated quickly and everyone was very nice. They have huge desserts displayed on the window case. The food was all very good portions and all very delicious and hot. Everything had flavor and had so much to choose from. My husband got the chicken parmigiana and it was really good. They accommodated me as I wanted chicken piccata but it is on their dinner menu but they still let me order it which was nice. It too was good and flavorful and had a lot of sauce. This waitress was rude and completely unprofessional. I came in with my family of four on Sunday; I had no idea they were about to close, and the waitress didn't mention that the kitchen and the restaurant itself were shutting down soon when she took our order. After taking our drink order, she came back and told me I had just one minute to place the rest of the order. That kind of thing definitely ruins your night. The food was fantastic, but the service from the waitress, Emily, was a total disaster. She brought out the first two drinks but didn't bring a straw for my daughter to drink hers; we had to wait for someone else to come over and get us a straw. Her specific service leaves a bad taste in your mouth--it lacks quality and friendliness. If you get her as your server, ask to switch to someone else. Amazing food right in the heart of downtown Monterey. We stayed within walking distance and the massive cake display caught our eye. Went over here last week for dinner for my wife and my wedding anniversary. We ended up enjoying the food and especially the service! We had the Diners, Drive Ins and Dives recommendations which was the minestrone and the lasagna which was awesome! I'm not the biggest minestrone soup guy but I enjoyed it a lot. The lasagna was top notch so we were super happy with these choices. Had an Oreo Cake that was such a good cake that we ended up coming back the next day before going home to get a couple more cake slices (chocolate and banana). Overall, I'm a sucker for good service and Jose was an amazing waiter. Kind, courteous, and checked in on us often even though he the section he was taking care of was further away from our table outside. I know for a fact that he is a hard worker. Fun story: Earlier that day, we had lunch at the wharf and Jose was also our waiter there also! Think it was a once in a lifetime to have the same waiter at two different restaurants for lunch and dinner so if you ever get Jose, you're in for a treat. Where do I start? Late lunch. Cobbler salad that was a variety of goodness. Spring mix, cubed chicken, avocado, olives, tomatoes, bacon and blue cheese. Side of thousand island. Nothing better than a great salad. But yet my husband had a burger with bacon jam and fries. Our friends had a grilled chicken pesto sandwich and a very appetizing burger all with shoestring fries.
