Always delicious and service is always excellent! I had the lobster ravioli; sauce was just delicious! My friend ordered beet salad with grilled chicken. It was a busy Saturday evening but we made reservations so we were seated promptly.

10 stars if I could honestly! This place is not only so good, but all the staff are extremely friendly. We found ourselves here on the way home from a 12 hour drive from Santa Barbra with our doggies in the pouring rain. I had called ahead of time to confirm they are a dog friendly restaurant and although the rain was coming down so hard and they closed the outside patio, they let our 2 furry friends in with no problem! I let them know they were on trazodone so would not be a problem at all and they behaved very well, but this is the first time I have ever had a restaurant allow the doggos inside the establishment! We ordered a couple things, their corn/bacon bread as an appetizer, the appetizer shrimp and we opted for the cajun flavor, my fiancé got the scallop risotto, and I ordered the seafood linguine pesto pasta. After having everything, we felt the cajun shrimp would not be something we would order again. However, everything else?! Amazing! Worth every penny. It was so funny, my fiancé liked my pesto dish more and I liked his scallop dish more, we should have switched honestly. The scallop dish came with lobster sauce and it was just so worth it! Highly recommend coming here, it was very enjoyable and we absolutely see us coming back. I also ordered their Guavamelon cocktail and it was to die for! This was our last stop on a trip from Livermore to San Diego and back going through Santa Barbra and it did not disappoint!

LOVEEEE SOME FRESH AHI. We chose this place in the barnyard for the menu compared to others. Classic American food with a lot of Asian fusion inspired dishes. Nice simple outdoor seating, good service. Our server helped steer us in the right direction with the sashimi salads. The ahi was fresh and gently seared. The salad was a bit over dressed. Would get again or try something else on their extensive menu.

I'm a little behind on my review, but check this place out! We had dinner our first night here when we visited Carmel a few months ago. I really enjoyed a lot of the unique options they had here. We started out with delicious cocktails as well as some cheese bread. The cheese bread had corn on top which was a unique touch but it was all delicious. For my entree I had the Sur Tikka Masala which was a very unique take by using sea bass instead of chicken. I had to try that since it was a specialty item and since when do you see sea bass and tikka? I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would but it was still good. I added on the jumbo shrimp which was really good. For dessert, although Steven preferred another option, he allowed me to go with the bon bons. I was like a little kid and had to get them due to the show that comes with it and the uniqueness, again, with the item. Little did I expect these bon bons to be SO massive as well as a complete show by our server Austin! Austin was the star of the night. He was truly amazing. He checked on us frequently, everything went smooth and he had me laughing. Once he performed the bon bon horror show, I knew it was a visit that I would never forget. Request him if you are able to. I laughed so much that I started showing the video to friends immediately. Little did I know that many members of my book club have been to this restaurant and commented on how much they loved it there.

Visited Sur during car week. Glad I made a reservation in advance as this is a very popular restaurant. We had a delicious salad with poached pears, candied pecans, orange slices and shredded carrots with arugula. Our main course was Sand dabs with Brussels Sprouts, sliced carrots and cauliflower florets, ( no Bok Choy this time). Both very tasty. We were dining with friends celebrating an anniversary, so we celebrated with champagne. Too full for dessert. Service was great during this busy night. The ambiance is quite nice with outdoor seating as well.

Experience was great! Was looking for a cute ambiance with good vibes . Aside from the gorgeous table side scenery, the service was on point! Austin provided over the top service. Perfect timing and very attentive! Definitely recommend. 10 out of 10!!!

Solid 4. Food was okay, but the drinks and service were great. Stopped by for dinner after hiking all afternoon at Big Sur. Came in around 7p without ressy, for 2. They didn't have tables immediately available, but offered a seat at the bar and can move us to a table when one opens up. Host was really nice! We ended up choosing to stay in our own little corner of the bar even when a table became available on the patio within ~15mins. Ambience was a little dim and moody. What we ordered: - Passionfruit lemonade: didn't quite taste like passionfruit, but it was still good! (Forgot picture, got too excited) - Prickly pear lemonade: tastes like what it said it was, my bf really enjoyed it. (With refill!) (Forgot picture, got too excited) - Blood orange lemonade: probably the best one out of the 3 lemonades! Lemonade with an aftertaste of blood orange. I love citrus. (Ordered as a refill in place of the passionfruit) - Ordered coffee, but they were out of regular coffee. Mark thought on his feet and offered to make an espresso with added water for an Americano (we still had an hour drive back home, thank you!) (Forgot picture, got too excited) - Clam chowder, bowl (soup of the day): Not as creamy as a typical clam chowder. Tastes like there was some kind of stock in it, different but good. Wished we had gotten more clams. (Forgot picture, got too excited) - Seafood jambalaya: it was Creole version! Plenty of fish, 2 jumbo perfectly cooked shrimp, bell peppers, and sausages. Spices were there, but so was that tomato. Like, a lot of tomato.. almost tomato pasta saucy. - Seafood linguine: tastes like linguine, pasta flavor was very standard. It was creamy, 2 types of fish, 3 clams, and 2 jumbo shrimp, and 2 small pieces of cheese bread topped with yellow corn! Corn! I never had cheese bread with corn. It was nice and toasted. I really enjoyed the bread. Mark L was a great server. Seemed really busy with manning the bar and helping with tables, but he was there when we needed him (questions and additional requests) and frequently checked in with us and kept our drinks (and water!) filled.

Party of 2 on Saturday afternoon. My hubby and I arrive at 1:30 and were welcomed invitingly and sat promptly. Our server was friendly and helpful and our seats were comfortable. Everything we tried was good. I had a Peachy Keen to sip on and the hubby had a beer. The Peachy keen was just that, wonderful. The bacon cheese bread is a must. Crab cakes are better with other the caramelized onion and I love onion so.... Hubby had the dish and chips, he said they are different since it's chilean Seabass but it's good. He doesn't eat coleslaw and I say they need a better recipe. The banana cream pie is really good. The establishment is very clean and comfortable. We will go back for other options on the future.

I came here to celebrate my birthday, and the dinner was great! My friends and I ordered the seafood linguini, scallop risotto, chicken masala, and a steak -- everything came out perfectly cooked and full of flavor. One of our favorite dishes was actually the appetizer: the wonton chips with poke -- super fresh and delicious. Our server, Grant, was amazing. He gave great drink recommendations that paired really well with our food, and even surprised me with a complimentary ice cream dessert for my birthday, which was such a thoughtful touch. Overall, great food, great service, and a wonderful birthday experience. I'd definitely come back!

I wasn't expecting much. Tourist town, big group, dog-friendly? Usually a recipe for soggy fries and overpriced mediocrity. But the food? Big, bold, and actually good. As in, I'd-go-back good. Portions that don't skimp and flavors that don't apologize. Shout out to Grant--guy knows how to make people feel welcome without trying too hard. And then there's Douglas, the owner. Unpretentious, present, and easy to talk to--rare qualities in the restaurant world, especially in a town like this. Bottom line: if you're rolling deep with family and furballs, and you want a place that doesn't just tolerate you but actually delivers? This is the spot. No pretense. Just good food and good people. And that, my friends, is worth something.

I appreciated the dog-friendly outdoor seating with an excellent doggie menu for our pup! But unfortunately I either ordered the wrong things or came on an off night, because I didn't enjoy the food and drink I ordered. Service was good, and we had our choice of seating when we arrived for our dinner reservation. I ordered the Seared Scallop Risotto. I usually love scallops, but these tasted off somehow in terms of texture and flavor and I struggled to finish them. The risotto also wasn't cooked well, and the sauce was bland. My partner got the lobster ravioli, which turned out to be a very heavy meal but was fine. Our dog absolutely loved the chicken breast & shredded carrots from the dog menu, which was a very generous portion for our little guy! Not sure if I would go back, but if I find myself here again I'll try a salad or burger instead.

My 95-year-old father, two sisters and I went to dinner on a Wednesday night. The restaurant was quiet. There were probably only three or four other tables with customers. The restaurant space is clean and very inviting. They have outdoor tables as well, which have heat lamps. We sat indoors in a corner table and could look out at all the lights. Our server was Alpha. He was very friendly and helpful. He schmoozed our father which made the process more enjoyable for him. He seemed honest and answering our Food questions, not like he was trying to push one thing over another. We started with the Panko artichoke hearts, and a wedge salad. The salad was great. The spicy Panko seem to mask the taste of the artichokes. Except for a few of the larger pieces, the sauces were the primary flavor. I had the scallop risotto in a tomato lobster sauce. Sadly, there were only 4 quarter sized scallops in the whole dish. There was risotto was nice and cheesy and the lobster sauce was the best I've ever had. My sister and father had the fried chicken. They both enjoyed the chicken and ate about half of the serving. My other sister had the miso salmon. She really enjoyed it. We tried to order dessert, but it was so slow coming out we canceled. Considering everything we ate, we really didn't have enough room for it anyway. We would certainly recommend Sur.

    French Dip

We came here with our dog and had a wonderful experience. Nadine was our server and she was helpful, efficient, and kind. The food was really good! We had fried chicken and a French dip sandwich. Our dog loved his patty, too. We sat outside on the patio and it was beautiful. A little cold but they had heaters which made it better. Overall, a great time!

The Highlights: The service is top-tier. The host and hostess were incredibly thoughtful, even offering us champagne for a wait that wasn't even that long. Our waiter (I believe his name was Ethan--tall, slender guy) was wonderful. He was fast, full of personality, and checked on us just the right amount. My Miso Salmon was also a standout--perfectly cooked with a sweet sauce that balanced well with the salty rice. The Downsides: The wait for the food was long enough that both we and the table next to us were wondering where our orders were. More importantly, the Asian fusion dishes were a letdown. The Spam Kimbap had chewy seaweed, undercooked rice, and very little flavor. The Kimchi Fried Rice was just a mushy blend of flavors with no distinction. Final Word: For a place with such beautiful Asian-inspired decor, the actual Asian dishes felt generic and lacked authenticity. If you go, stick to the salmon and enjoy the great service, but lower your expectations for the fusion items.

It's practically hidden away in a plaza with an outdoor patio, but there is plenty of indoor seating as well parking of course can be tricky in this area, but you shouldn't have to walk more than a block or two. I've been to other Alvarado Street brewery locations, but they each independently run and this one is by far my favorite. They always have different things on the menu to eat and drink and we are always satisfied. My +1 has a go to salad with raw beets in it, and I usually prefer something meatier. This time I went for a brisket sandwich, which was a little bit greasy (as expected) but was incredible. The meat was cooked to perfection and it paired well with the brioche bun and whatever sauce they put on it. We also had a calamari appetizer, which was elevated with some furikake seasoning. The beers, of course were absolutely delicious. I tried one of their sours and a barley wine. My +1 opted for a stout. The flavors are always changing, so we never know what we're going to get to try the next time we visit.
