They were juicy and had pineapples in them too. When I come back, would definitely get another plate of all Al pastor tacos. 5/5 for the Al pastor tacos. This taco truck location was between Carmel Valley and Carmel-by-the-Sea. Taco trucks are very common where I frequent in Los Angeles and they have a great variety to choose from. This one looked clean and the employees were helpful in ordering. I was not disappointed. I had seen the taco truck by Safeway before, so I stopped in after getting my tires checked at the local Shell station. I was pleasantly surprised by the carne asada taco. Legit Taco truck off of Del Monte Ave. recommend it to anyone in the area for a few reasons. First of all the Burrito has amazing and generous ingredients, and finely wrapped too. I especially enjoyed the shrimp tacos which had generous portions and flavored with just the right amount of onions, cilantro, and tomato. The tacos are $4 which I find *quite* steep especially for a small taco, but it was *an experience*. I had one carne asada and one al pastor and then went back for 2 more al pastor. The homemade tortillas were amazing and crispy, and the onions were perfectly cooked and seasoned. It tasted very fresh. Would recommend anyone in Big Sur go for a snack or a sunset meal. I do believe it was the best taco of my life. You will need more than your normal amount of tacos however, first because they are small and second because they are so good. There was one outdoor table with plastic chairs, byo folding chair if you want a guaranteed chair. The red hot sauce completely decimated my friend who eats spicy on the regular so beware. We have had better in Salinas. It is a bit pricy for tacos. Yes, they make their own tortillas (corn), but they were dry and a little brittle. We brought our own chairs to sit and eat near El Estero lake. It was sunny, but a little cold and windy. (The food cooled off way fast, not their fault). But it was missing something, not sure what...FLAVOR! The al pastor was different from what I am used to from eating them someplace else. Hubby said the shrimp were good and the asada were just ok. The rice was mushy, over cooked, and the black beans were a little under done. Not sure if I would try again. If I do, I will try the burrito and/or a quesadilla. We used Big Sur Taco for our company outing and it was DELICIOUS! It was set up for all you can eat tacos but they allowed burritos and quesadillas also when asked. If I had a complaint it would be that I would rather them have said no, and done only tacos instead of charging me $150 over the price I was originally quoted. Not everyone can just throw an extra $150 with no knowledge. The deposit was not deducted from the total price. If they weren't so friendly and the food wasn't so good, I probably would have complained more. Just be cautious if you're on a budget and confirm price upfront when they arrive. The food is worth it so don't let that deter you from using them, just have better communication than what we had. That's the only reason this isn't 5 stars. read more
