If you read my other reviews, you'll see that I reside in the Central Valley, which is pretty far from Monterey, but not too far. I came for a little vacation from the heat, which is definitely necessary because it gets pretty toasty in the Fresno area. I think it's all the roads and stuff. I wouldn't know, I'm not a scientist. To continue what I was saying, I came to Monterey for a little vacation! Usually I'd go eat at a little spot at a mall called Island Burger, but to my surprise, the place was permanently closed! Can you believe it? I couldn't. Because the Island Burger was closed, I decided to go elsewhere for a burger. I checked online to see what folks were saying about this place, and it seemed like everybody had mostly positive things to say. So I went and ate there! When I walked in I noticed it was one of those spots where you just kinda put in your order and sit down and wait. So that's what I did. I got the spicy burger, but I can't remember the name of it. I also got some onion rings and chicken wings. I'd like to mention that I was with my family so we could share those items. I could theoretically eat all of that myself, but that'd be a bit greedy. The burger was great and it had a good amount of spice. The meat was juicy and nicely seasoned, and the fries were perfectly crispy. The onion rings had a delicious batter, and were fried to perfection. The chicken wings really surprised me! I would go as far as to say that they were on par with, and maybe even better than Wingstop. Overall, the service was great and quick, the food was immaculate, and I would absolutely recommend this spot to anybody who is in the area. The bathrooms are nice too. I forgot to mention that. Seriously, this is probably the best burger I've had in a long time.Three of us ordered the Sur Bacon Burger, which is basically their regular cheeseburger with bacon added. It wasn't messy, just a quality burger from the first bite to the last.My son got The Works, and if you saw his burger, you'd understand why he cleaned his plate. The food came out fresh, hot, and looked amazing. They really take the time to make everything look picture-worthy. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, the wait wasn't long at all, and they have self-serve fountain drinks, which is always a plus. The menu is simple and easy to order from. They have salads, chicken burgers, hamburgers, and you can customize your burger however you like. Their burgers are cooked medium-well by default, but I asked for mine well-done and they got it exactly right. The customer service was cool.They weren't over the top trying to impress you, but they definitely weren't underperforming either. Everyone was chill, friendly, and got the job done. The portions are generous. I only finished half my burger and took the rest home. I reheated it later and it was still just as delicious. Overall Rating: 8.7/ 10. After spending the day hiking at Point Lobos Reserve, I was craving fish and chips and my cousin was craving a burger so we decided to go to Sur Burger. The inside is dark, quiet, and very clean (3.5/5). The gentleman at the register greeted us and was somewhat informative when asking questions (3.5/5). I ordered the Sur Brighton and my cousin The Classic (not pictured). We both agree the fries were some of the best we have had at a restaurant. They were perfectly crispy and salted (a hard 4.8/5). Her burger was basic, nothing memorable and the lack of a seeded bun was a bit disappointing (3.5/5). The Sur Brighton was FANTASTIC! The fish was so soft and buttery, the batter, like the fries, was fried to absolute perfection! I was able to walk to this restaurant from my hotel. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich as it seemed like the lightest option. The food arrived fresh and hot, but lacked seasoning so it was bland and the chicken was very dry. They had good service but the fountain drinks had a strange flavor and the beverage station was out of lids, straws and napkins. Probably not the perfect time to get a burger during Monterey Car Week but I couldn't pass up on food before bed. I got the big kahuna burger. Now this burger is a common menu item but when I read that it included jalapeño peppers I couldn't pass it up. Not only did the peppers add some flare to the overall flavor of the burger, but there was something uniquely different in this burger than all other kahuna burgers I've had. The wait was over 1/2hr but fortunately my hotel was directly across the street. The restaurant itself was packed and still room to sit at the bar while I waited for my order. It turns out the it's a family owed business started by Cambodians who moved to the area a very long time ago. So maybe there's some native seasonings they're using but it was delicious and a very big burger. I was good at eating half but finished the whole thing because I was so damn good. I think my boyfriend got the #6 The WORKS and I got the #2 SUR Cheeseburger and we both replaced our fries with salads. The drink selection wasn't my favorite but I ended up getting a mix of the different iced teas. I will say though that the side salad absolutely hit the spot for me! I really needed something refreshing and light and that salad with blue cheese dressing hit the spot for me in the same way that the burger did for my boyfriend. As far as the burger itself, it was definitely tasty. Brioche buns are not personally my favorite as I prefer my burgers to be heavier on the veggies and usually with lettuce buns, but if you like brioche buns you'll definitely appreciate this burger more. Went to Sur Burger very excited to try the Spicy sur and grab some chicken fingers for my daughter. The chicken fingers were chewy and tasteless. She took one but and that was all.
