This was our first stop for food for our golf trip to Monterey. What a great find. This little place packs some big flavors in their offerings. A must try!!!

heading back up after a weekend in carmel and monterey...stopping by barba azul in seaside...beach shack restaurant with deep blue painted walls and a mural of an octopus...definitely seafood vibes...outdoor patio or indoor dining available...taking a seat outdoors in the covered patio area...browsing menu and finding various seafood options...mostly all seafood and only non-seafood option are the complimentary chips and salsa which is nice and crispy, carne asada burrito and the chicken tenders from the kids menu...just a warning...placed an order for the seafood stew $19.99...broth was delicious and refreshing...loaded with mussels, shrimp and more...does take some work to crack the crab legs to get the meat and dealing with shells...get ready to get your hands in the seafood...grilled fish tacos $6 each...flavors were good with the guac and fresh tasting...shrimp tacos $6.50 each were little heavier, cheesier and greasier...still deliciously crunchy and flavorful...carne asada burrito $15 had a nice griddled brown tortilla wrap loaded with steak, rice and all the fixings...a good burrito...fish fingers and fries $12 from the kid menu was easy for the child to enjoy....$91.61 total after tax and 18% automatic gratuity for 5 people...the food was excellent for the price...no complaints...

Last stop of our vacation and the wife wanted more seafood. You can get it here!! Very fresh. Very friendly server and chef. Nice seating inside and out. Started with raw oysters, so fresh. The wife got shrimp and octopus cocktail. So much seafood in there. I had Baja fish taco. One was enough for me. We also shared a guacamole salad. We got chips and salsa when we sat down. Multi colored and crisp and tasty. Good meal before we leave.

I was delightfully surprised with my tostada de ceviche. Not sure how it comes in person, but to go it was nicely packed in a container that allowed me to spread out the goodness over two meals. I most appreciated how fresh the fish tasted. I did not appreciate that the guacamole doesn't come with chips and even though it was good, I had to go out of my way to the store to truly enjoy it. Phone can be hard to get through midday, but if you're persistent someone will eventually answer. Ordering online may be the way to go for takeout, my order was ready by the time they said and I was in and out of the parking in no time. Outdoor patio was cute and inviting and would give this place another in person try!

Local taco spot that a friend recommended and it was really great! We ordered by phone to do a pickup and it was ready in time. I had the Baja fish taco and it was so good! There was a bit too much cilantro for my taste and next time I will note for no cilantro. Fish was perfectly fried and tender. I also ordered the shrimp enchilado and loved how cheesy it was. However, the shrimp was in a much spicier sauce than I had expected but it was still really tasty. We also ordered a taco plate and the side of rice was a bit too salty for our taste. Very reasonably priced as well.

Amazing Mexican seafood. Every time I've been here the food has been fresh and delicious. From the enchilado tacos to the caldo 7 mares. The server was attentive and she brought us fresh chips and salsa. Definitely would recommend this place.

Cute place with good seafood and friendly service. There is a lot of outdoor seating and they also offer beer, margaritas and soft drinks I love tacos so I had the 3 taco plate with 2 rockfish tacos and 1 specialty shrimp taco. It came with rice and salad. Delicious! The selection of tacos is nice. I liked their tri colored chips and salsa also. Basically it is a Sinaloa style seafood shack. The music is fun too.

Do you love generously portioned fresh seafood? Do you love exquisitely prepared authentic Mexican cuisine? How bout top notch gourmet fish tacos on the peninsula? Barba Azul offers both! The staff are friendly and attentive, the patio is spacious and welcoming, and the open kitchen is complimented by a handful of modest tables for indoor seating. Barba Azul es muy delicioso!!

When we first arrived my expectations were pretty low after trying the salsa. Tasted like tomato sauce. We ordered the mixted sampler, seafood soups, and fish tacos. All were seasoned well and flavorful. I will definitely be coming back

Sorry (again) for the occupational hazard. I bit into the BAJA FISH TACO before taking the picture. A MUST!

Clap! Clap! Clap! To Grillmaster Alan who makes the best frickin' Baja fish tacos in California. Just the best! He said the recipe is from Tijuana. Alan said, "mejor" and yes, it is thumbs up the best! Seriously, with the first bite, your mouth is in food heaven. It's hot, crispy, meaty, flavorful and it's so easy just to gobble it up like a pig. It's okay to make a pig of yourself. It's so worth it. I inhaled my first Baja fish taco like there's no tomorrow. Then I savored my second one because I wanted to appreciate all the flavors and textures that I was eating. Finally, I ended my meal with a shrimp and octopus tostada that was good, but I wish I had ordered 3 Baja fish tacos. To top our meal off, Stephanie was our server. She was so nice and pleasant. Together Alan and Stephanie made our late lunch/early dinner (would that be called lunner?) absolutely the best golf trip to Monterey. For those yelpers that are looking for Baja fish tacos - go directly to Barba Azul and enjoy! Ole!

Server was great. Brought chips and salsa right away and was very helpful and attentive. He gave us recommendations that were delicious too! Baja fish and consentido tacos, and shrimp ceviche tostada. Pops says the margaritas were great too. Will be back soon!

Amazing food! The service was a little slow, but it was extremely busy and there was only one waitress so we were very understanding. The waitress was very friendly even though she was swamped. The inside of the restaurant is small, but there is patio seating which is lovely on a warm day. The food was so good. I had never had shrimp albondigas before and can't wait to go back to have more!

The bread wasn't toasted so I was skeptical but it was actually very tasty because the outside had toasted sesame seeds on it. We ordered the fish and chips as well as their cioppino. The fish and chips were good! It wasn't the best I've ever had just cause I usually prefer cod but I think they used a different fish. The cioppino though was so delicious. It was extremely flavorful, the broth was not overally seasoned, it was perfect. There was lots of seafood too - such as clams, octopus, squid, mussels, shrimp and fish! I loved dipping the bread in it too.

It's not a big place, and yet they still have a great ratio of staff to customers. We got there 30 minutes early and got in line about 20 minutes before 5 PM on a Saturday in July. When they opened we were the second party and there were about 30 people after us. Some had reservations and some were walk-ins like us. Once we sat down we got bread and butter and they took our order. Clam chowder was not thick how we like it. My husband was craving the curry snapper. My son had the holiday pasta. I had a special artichoke seafood pasta. We were all happy with our choices.

This was a classic New England-style chowder done right. It was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor without feeling overly heavy. The sourdough bread bowl was perfectly crisp on the outside while still soft enough to enjoy with the chowder. Easily one of the top three clam chowders I've ever had. The New England Lobster Roll was a pleasant surprise. I'm usually not the biggest lobster fan, but I genuinely enjoyed this one. The bread was soft and buttery, and the lobster had a nice savory flavor with just a subtle hint of sweetness that balanced everything well. If you're a lobster fan, or even if you're on the fence like I was. I'd definitely recommend giving it a try. The only disappointment was the garlic bread. It was unfortunately over-toasted and very hard, so I'd probably skip it next time. Service was fast, efficient, and attentive throughout the meal. The restaurant was clean with a casual atmosphere, making it a great spot for a quick bite with family or friends. Overall, I'd happily come back, especially for that incredible clam chowder.

The restaurant at first was not noticeable since it's below the pier so you have to look for the sign. Once inside, there's a row of tables along the wall, giving a view of all the boats. The row of tables at the middle can still see the outside. The bar is located on the left side of the restaurant and it includes a good selection of alcohol and spirits. I came here at 4 for happy hour (4-6pm) and easily got a seat in the bar area. The bartender was super friendly and offered to make a martini that's not on the happy hour menu for a reasonable price. I also noticed him offering to make hamburger for another patron. This is what I called excellent service, when they can accommodate patron's needs. I got a bowl of clam chowder (5/5). It was thick with lot of clams and potatoes. I like the chowder thick so was good for me. It comes with bread and butter. The bread was soft and fresh. I also got the sand dab with fries. The fries were hot and crunchy, perfect for my taste. The fish was moist but kind of bland. It comes with tartar sauce but I think I would have preferred more flavors, maybe blackened. Since it was my birthday, the bartender give me a free dessert. I ordered the bread pudding with whiskey sauce and whipped cream. For anyone who likes whiskey, this is definitely the dessert for you because the flavor of the whisky is definitely overwhelming. Overall, I love the friendly service and most of the food. I would definitely come back to try the other items.
