Crab chimichanga! Highly recommended
Lawrence M.

Been here several times. The first time we were drawn by the positive reviews. The dine in experience is great. It's a nice quiet break from the cannery row madness. Just a few blocks up from McAbee Beach, it's an easy walk while Bob your uncle is taking a scuba class. We also did a catering order. Call ahead. The lady is really nice. We brought different burritos to the group, and we had happy campers. Literally. They were camping. So someone mention crab chimichanga. Yelp did not disappoint. Tons of crab stuffed inside a hard tortilla. Served on a plate of rice and cabbage. Wow good. We also ordered off the special board. If wet burrito is spelled wrong then you know it will be good. We had fajita fixings and the shredded chicken. When she delivered the food to our table she warned it was hot. Burned my tongue it was so hot. But didn't care because it was goooood.

scallop taco

I got this recommendation off of Reddit (lol). The scallop was not very sweet and the overall flavor profile was a little too tomato-forward. The fish taco was very tender and the sauce was not too heavy. It's not baja style so keep that in mind! Plenty of cabbage; eat shortly after taking out to ensure the flour tortilla doesn't stick to the wrapping. The family that runs the place is so sweet! Street parking only though, which can get a little competitive but not toooo bad.

Delicious food! The manager or owner was very nice and works hard. Our group ordered the burritos, crab chimichanga, crab tacos, carne al pastor tacos, and fish taco. Casual dine in and clean.

Amazing food 1000/10 staff is also very polite!!

If you're looking for something authentic and full of flavor, this is the spot! The food is incredible--every bite tastes like a home-cooked meal, and the salsa is easily the best I've ever had. Beyond the kitchen, the staff is wonderful and makes you feel welcome the moment you walk through the door. The vibes are perfect for a great meal out. I honestly cannot recommend this place enough--100,000/10!

Lobster, scallops & shrimp tacos

Yummy tacos- shrimp & fish and great, wholesome service! The restaurant has been around for 40 years with the same chef!

DELICIOUS FISH TACOS.
Art M.

The fish taco was so delicious. We went to Rosarito Beach in Baja Mexico the week before coming to Monterey, Ca... and the fish taco here at Taqueria Del Mar in Monterey, totally knocked out the Rosario fish tacos. The difference, is in Taqueria Del Mar has grill fish instead if the fried fish. also they give two tortillas and enough fish and cabbage to make two tacos.

Huaraches de pescado

This place is so good! Big portions and very tasty. The salsa is fire I would come here again. Muy delicioso!

Modelo and a seat at the bar by the window
Ashley K.

This place was exactly what I wanted after getting overwhelmed in tourist hell over in the Wharf/Cannery Row -- a quaint hole-in-the-wall with surprisingly great food and good people watching. I wandered in an hour before close and grabbed a fish burrito, a Modelo, and a seat at the bar in the front. The foot traffic out front was entertaining to say the least haha. The burrito is approximately the size of my torso. It. Is. Intimidating! It comes with green and red salsas on the side, both of which I used a ton of. I wish the red sauce was spicier! My biggest complaint. Gimmie more hot! The burrito was amazing. Simple and so so good. The fish was so moist and broken into perfectly pieces. It was so flavorful and flaking apart perfectly. Besides that, the burrito just has sauteed cabbage and mayo and a bit of cheese. Pretty basic, and yet, so good. Overheard the person working tell a patron that the fish was sea bass. Mmmm!

Soy to the World…read more Locally owned and operated vegan Mexican restaurant located not far from Cannery Row and the aquarium that has been in operation for nearly fifteen years. It features scratch-made, authentic Oaxacan and Mexico City-inspired dishes that are 100% plant-based. The Good: * Fast-casual: order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. * Friendly service. * Housemade corn tortillas were fantastic. * The horchata had good flavor but was very watery. * Carissa enjoyed her two tacos (potato and veggie) but said her potato taco was the superior one of the two. * The Mole Negro was delicious, and you could hardly tell the "chicken" wasn't chicken. Honestly, it is one of the more flavorful moles I've had, and I've had a lot. * The vegan flan was incredible. If held at gunpoint, I'm not sure I could tell the difference between this and a regular flan made with eggs; that is how good the texture was. If you're a fan of flan, then get this. The Meh: * Extremely small shared parking lot that is free if you're lucky enough to find a spot. Otherwise, you'll have to opt for paid street parking. * No complimentary chips and salsa. * No outdoor dining. The Ugly: * K-LOVE blasting on the speakers. Conclusion: Tasty vegan eats, even if you are a meathead like myself. Recommended.

The best salmon I've ever had, indeed. One of the guest had birria tacos served with a split bone marrow! Never saw that combination before! He let me try some and it was delicious! It was a weekday evening, so it wasn't crowded, but I still had made reservations. Ambience was great---quiet and relaxing, and made for a wonderful dining experience. We were seated immediately. We ordered the Masa Tempura for starters. Masa tempura fried sweet corn, jalapeño, cilantro and citrus aioli. This was unique and delicious! The citrus aioli was a great accompaniment, as a dipping sauce. For our entree, JJ and I both ordered the Mole Enchiladas--- Chicken, mole coloradito, topped with pickled onions, micro greens, crema, sweet dusting of almond, walnut and chile guajillo and hand pressed corn tortillas. This dish was very flavorful and delicious. I enjoyed the rich mole sauce, and altogether was a great entree choice. I wish I would have had some rice, beans or vegetables with it though. Service was friendly and efficient. Overall, a great dining experience.

It's got a solid kick, and that buttermilk garlic dressing they use is addictive. If you're leaning more toward the taqueria side, the Blackened Shrimp Tacos and the Steak Fajitas are the move. I also get the House Burrito a lot as it's one of their famous specialties. Everything feels fresh and grilled, not greasy, which is a nice change of pace. The service is fast and friendly and the portions are huge for the price.
