The BEST tripas ever! Both my friend and I agreed that this was the most perfectly cooked tripas we've had. Normally we would have to ask places to make it extra crispy so it's not too chewy but even without asking the tripas came out nicely with a perfect balance of crispiness and slightly chewy. Tacos were loaded so the two tacos were enough. Refried beans had a good consistency but could had used a little salt. Rice was nicely cooked and seasoned. The order counter is located in the middle and you do have to order before taking a seat. They'll bring your food out to you. There is self served scoops and sauces station. Both chips and sauces could had use some salt. But the red sauce had a nice little kick. Service was good and they have multiple TVs that were showing the FIFA game with Mexico playing so that was fun to watch while eating. Good place to enjoy the food and watch the game. Vibe was there. I haven't been to enough Mexican spots to know if they are the best, but they are a solid 4 star. The service was friendly, and the dining room was clean and relaxed. Walking in, you are met with aromas of your friend's mom's house as she is cooking chile for that evening's dinner with a hint of tortillas de maiz aromas in the background. The venue is small, but the ambiance is great. Lots of earthenware tile and decor from Mexico adorning the walls. Service is quick. It's walk up, order, and seat yourself. There's a chips, salsa, and condiments bar that is self-serve. Everything was fresh, and salsas were chilled. The food was made fresh, upon order. Las Cazuelas is a solid choice for Mexican food. Sure, it's a bit watered down compared to "more authentic" Mexican taquerias but there's nothing to shame here when it comes down to food that tastes good that comes with quick and efficient service. The location shares a parking lot with other businesses so parking can get crowded. There's a popular buffalo wing chain next door (you know which one I'm talking about). So, depending on when you visit, be prepared to park a bit further than you'd expect. The interior of the location is smaller than you'd expect from looking at the outside. Judging by the fact that the restaurant even has a "to-go container" shelf by the registers with a hand written note on it saying "do not touch" leads me to believe that the kitchen area is probably quite cramped as well. So they're trying to maximize the interior footprint the best they can. Even so, I didn't have trouble finding a table for two. Something I always appreciate when going out for Mexican food / Tex-mex is a good salsa bar. This place delivers on that. From cucumbers, to radishes, escabeche, and a couple of different salsas to choose from, there are plenty of options. There's one mild green salsa and a spicier red salsa, plus pico de gallo available. I ordered the regular Carne asada burrito which came out really quickly after I ordered it. I'm talking about less than 3 minutes. It was hot, wrapped well, and ready for devouring. The carne itself was a bit dry and the rice didn't taste overly seasoned. The beans were cooked perfectly though (I hate when they're overdone) and had a nice "bite" to them. With that said; Was this the best burrito I've ever had? No. Would I come back and try another one? Yes. Overall, the shortcomings here are minimal and the food itself is good enough to warrant another try. The prices are fair ($11.95 for my burrito) so, if you're in the area, it's worth a try yourself. Otherwise, there are plenty of stellar options for Mexican food in the area. read more

Seaside, Ca. We were actually looking for a different place when we happened onto this mall based restaurant. It's set up to look like fast food Mexican, though it's really a bit better than that. My tacos were ok, good but not a lot in them, I would avoid the crispy version if your hoping for a larger portion of protein, My wife ordered the Chile relleno and a taco ala carte but it came out with the typical rice and crappy refried beans. This fast/casual Mexican restaurant is more than a fast restaurant (not necessarily a fast food place as you walk up to the ordering counter, pay for your food and they will bring your food to your table.) There is no way you can argue with the fact that this place has almost 5-star reviews from people who've dined there, and today, I joined one of them. Quality food, good service are offered at this place on top of the authentic feel of a/any Mexican place you'd expect to see. Prices are just right, too (if you do an a-la carte of two items, salsa bar and a bottle of beer would come to about $20 which is not bad for a restaurant in Seaside/Monterey area.) Employees are constantly walking around the place to ensure if we are enjoying our food, if we need anything else etc. Their attentiveness is/was top notch. The place is/was clean as well. Our home city (Denver) would love to have a restaurant like this in every major areas in it. I wonder if they'd consider opening a location in CO in the future?? Wanting something to help soak up the couple of craft beers I had, I went with my go to, carne in sujugo. It is a mix of beans, bacon, carne asada and avocado in an insanely tasty broth. It is served with corn or flour tortillas to make little tacos. I especially liked it with their avocado hot salsa. They have a chip and salsa bar with about 5 different salsa ranging from pico to spicy.
