She gave us some recommendations and we ended up ordering enough food for that night + the next night that we enjoyed at home. The chips and homemade salsas came out first. 3 different types (2 red and 1 green). All 3 were good but they are spicy. We ordered the mulcajete, crunchy quesa birria tacos, enchiladas, and a chille relleno à la carte. The mulcajete came out bubbling hot with tons of beef, chicken breast, shrimp, and all the veggies. My daughter said her enchiladas (1 chicken and 2 cheese) were extraordinary. The birria tacos were on par - she makes the tortilla with a crunch to it. They were wonderful. Everything else was also very delicious. The rice was fluffy and tasty. The beans were a little soupy but tasted great. I like my beans a little more dense and thick. I ordered 2 super burritos and a side of refried beans from Las Marias today using Yelp to order the takeout order. I was down the street shopping and stopped in to pick up my order. I met one of the Owners named Maria. I told her I was new in the area, and she shared her restaurant is family owned and operated. She was very friendly. I'm from San Jose and have had great Mexican food. These burritos were very big and flavorful. She was very generous with the meat, Al Pastor and Asada. Seasoned well and crisped on a plancha, these were great burritos. Now I always get a side of refried beans to see how well they are made. The refried beans at Las Marias were outstanding. I will be back to Las Marias to have dinner in the restaurant. The restaurant is fairly large and well decorated with artwork and a full bar. I'm looking forward to trying more items from than their menu on my next trip. read more

The restaurant needs cleaned more as the floors are really sticky, and it does not always smell good when you walk through the door. The service is not the best, you order at the window, and they bring your food to your table: the problem is no one ever checks back at your table so you have to walk up to the front for refills (chips, salsa, drinks). The rice has always been extremely hard and old; however the birria tacos always seem fresh. The sauce to it is cold, but the tacos themselves seem like they come off the oven. I've ordered every taco they offer, and they too seem to be served on the colder side. It seems their meats and rice are cooked ahead of time and stored in a container that isn't kept warm enough, rather than cooked to order. read more

I still haven't found a real good Mexican restaurant in the Monterey Peninsula. Tonight I took the bait from Yelp local ads focusing on food pics from Yelpers. This was supposed to be solid "4". I had to bite my tongue to give it a 3. Seriously -- Mex food isn't gourmet. That's not why we go - we love it ( when it's right) because it fills a craving. Stuff we like, who cares if it's rice and beans and tacos if they blow you away with taste? Tonight I ordered chicken enchiladas topped with verde sauce -- big mistake changing my mind from Chili verde. Absolutely awful. Couldn't eat any of the three - rice and beans were "ok"--the chicken was inedible. Stringy and tough, no taste at all. I ate some rather good chips and salsa and left disappointed. Maybe I just ordered the wrong food but that said it should have been decent and jet wasn't. Last-- I know we're not in COVID but during COVID an effort of cleansing was normal. Spraying tables, wiping them with clean cloths...tonight, the tables were being bussed and wiped with the same dirty cloth all the tables were wiped with. Kind of sickening to watch. The floor is made of large tiles kind of yellowish brown color. My feet stuck to everywhere I walked. WOW- I have sure been to a lot of Mexican restaurants all over California and Las Marias is exceptional. My wife and I experienced this amazing find for the first time, ordering what has become one of our favorite Mexican feasts - the infamous Molcajete. Oh my god- this was completely next level. First, the sheer size of this thing- I really do think it could feed four people- we could not finish it and ended up taking quite a bit home. This giant screaming hot stone bowl was full of grilled steak, chicken, shrimp, peppers, onions in a magical sauce with melted cheese all over it. It also of course came with tortillas, rice, beans, guac, sour cream, pico de gallo & more cheese. It was absolutely fantastic and Maria, who served us personally, sent us home with extra rice beans and tortillas. I mean wow. I really felt like she treated us like family. So good and Seaside is so lucky to have this place, these people. All of this for $35. If you have not been here you really should go. Absolutely excellent. Thank you Maria! read more

Hands down, best queso birria in town. The owner is so sweet. She clearly prides herself on consistency in her flavors and recipes. I've never been disappointed with anything I've ordered! We do takeout from here probably twice a month and live 20 mins away. HOW DOES THIS PLACE HAVE 4 STARS?? Now i am not a picky eater by any means, even when something doesn't taste the best. But this food is TERRIBLE. I got two carne asada tacos and there were maybe about 4 pieces of onion and the meat was incredibly salty. Almost inedible. I also got a regular chicken burrito and it made me gag. The rice was so overcooked and mushy you couldn't even see the individual grains. It also tasted like it was cooked in old water. The tomatoes tasted so old and nasty. However I cant say too much about the burrito because i only was able to take a few bites before i had to throw it away because it was extremely disgusting. NEVER EAT HERE. read more
