    Sunday jazz night
    Steve D.

Stopped in for Sunday jazz. $10 cover. Pretty nice Boulevardier and music was very good. If I lived in Monterey I'd be in there most Sundays.

Pearl Hour is one of our favorite places to visit when staying in Monterey! The bartenders were super fun to talk with and the drinks were very yum! I love the vibes in this bar. It is nice to relax on the sofa and chat while drinking a wonderful cocktail! We enjoyed sitting outside as wel! The music is always nice and overall, it is worth the experience! Cant wait to visit again!

Excellent bar with a great personality. This is a must stop when in the area. We got there early in the evening so we were able to enjoy a seat and talking. It does get busier in the evening so plan accordingly. Drinks are delicious! you really can't go wrong with any of them!

Pure vibes! Cover on drag nights. Bring your friends no matter how you identify and just have a good time. The crowd was super cool and positive! Extensive drink list and good bartenders.

With so little options in Monterey open late, we ended up here on a Saturday night, no cover charge. The ambience wasn't bad, cute lighting, decor, and furnishings, both inside and in the outdoor patio, the crowd mainly twenty and thirty somethings. Music was fine, hip hop playing through the speakers, nothing too special. We did see a piano in the stage area, not in use during our visit, but looks like maybe they have live music or hold other special events here. The service was so-so, not too long of a wait, but bartenders also not so attentive or efficient in helping guests. On top of that, the lemon drop we ordered wasn't great, not just weak in alcohol, but the flavor not good either. "It was all a dream" was more like a dream about ginger... there was a lot inside, tasted like medicine. I don't have high expectations, and the setting was lovely. But we just weren't feeling the overall vibe of the place, the drinks were that much of a turnoff that the atmosphere could not save us from wanting to leave. Who knows, maybe they have better stuff on their menu or perhaps our botched cocktails were just a fluke, but we didn't stay long to find out.

    American Psycho

Great ambiance and drinks here. I had the American Psycho and he had the Cherry Coke Float. Both very good. The bartender was kind and personable. They have an outdoor area as well, and live music on Sunday and Wednesday nights. Definitely check it out.

Pearl hour is a cute bar known for hosting a variety of intimate events from jazz nights to burlesque. This is a comfortable and inclusive space that works hard to make everyone feel welcome. The speciality cocktails are unique compared to other local bars "special margaritas" or sub for other "special" cocktail. The speciality cocktails here are higher craft and they occasionally use locally foraged ingredients which is really cool. If you're looking to just hang out with friends and enjoy some beers, they have simple options to choose from which is appreciated. Sometimes, you just don't want a double hopped imperial IPA. You want a lager and you want to chill. And you can do that here. In terms of food, there are some light snacks but don't expect dinner. I personally like that because the location doesn't smell like greasy pub food while you're sipping and enjoying a beautifully nuanced cocktail. Elise was running the bar almost completely by themselves and the hustle was impressive. The only reason this place doesn't get full marks is because sometimes your cocktail will be cleared from your table before you're done with it. Maybe I'm being a bit too finicky here but it irks me when you're not QUITE done with your drink and the busser comes by and takes your "nearly" empty glasses without asking. Also, my ending bill had an error that I needed to reach out for after the fact to have corrected, which Pearl Hour gladly did. Overall, I'll definitely return because there aren't many places like this in the Monterey peninsula.

In Monterey for a couple days and had to stop by this little diamond in the sea! Immediately walking in noticing the decor and funky vibe of the space, approaching the back bar it's a gorgeous sight with additive free tequilas and a mezcal selection that had me feeling like a kid on Christmas morning! Bar staff was so welcoming and educated making suggestions and recommendations allowing me to taste some stuff I've never tried, overall just exceptional service and vibes as soon as you walk into this groovy bar! My first time going to Monterey and this bar is the reason I'll be back!

Went for my sister's birthday with two other people, so it was 4 of us. It was highly recommended by our waiter at the Sardine factory, and based on the excellent service we got at the restaurant, we were excited to go to this bar.The place was beautiful and not busy at all which was kinda nice. I asked the bartender if they had any special birthday cocktails they could make (was not asking for a free drink) and she just stared at me and said NO! Again, I was not asking for a free drink, I simply was hoping they could make a nice pretty looking drink for my sister since it was her birthday. Then a different bartender (Amanda) joined and while my cousin and I were waiting for our drinks, Amanda kept asking us to pay. We told her we had already ordered from the other bartender but Amanda was adamant about us giving her a credit card that instant, which we did even though she made us feel very uncomfortable. On the receipt , she underlined and made a mark next to the highest tip option on the merchant copy of the receipt , which I made sure not to give her. Instead, I filled out the total on the customer copy and gave her that one.Once we got our drinks we sat outside where the ambiance was beautiful. We saw Amanda walking around with small candles on a tray which she was putting on the tables and we wanted one. I asked if we could have one and Amanda said, "oh, you want a tray?" At this point I was super annoyed and couldn't wait to finish our drinks and leave but I told her that we obviously wanted a candle and not her tray. The drinks were ok. Ambiance was beautiful. Service and staff (particularly Amanda) was horrible, so never again.

So I love that they have cheez-it lol, the drinks are good but you have to acknowledge that this place is a little bit on the bougie side, so the drinks are expensive and you'll get more ice than liquor lol. But again the drinks are tasty, I love the decor and they weigh that they design it after Carbones. It's more of a chill spot. They have nice plans and nice couch sitting area in their patio is really pretty. The service can be a little tricky at times. I feel like they're not very warm Welcoming till you get to like talk to them and kinda break them in.. they do have live music and sometimes they do have a cover charge. I came in on a Tuesday and they had jazz with no cover charge. Hanged out in the bar area and then set outside for a while. Pearl hour is located right on Lighthouse, The parking is on street parking.. I have not had any of their food but I come here usually for drinks.

We will be there next Sunday, January 12, 2025. Will you have live jazz on that night?

Yes, we have every Sunday! Zach Westfall Quartet, 8-11pm $10 cover for the musicians 🌹

    Is it 21 and over?

Our IDs weren't checked at the door when we walked in originally cause it was still during the hours of them serving food before the band started. They of course were checked once we ordered drinks. Then we were told if we were to stay after hours…

I'm visiting in December. Do you still have live jazz music on sundays?

    Yes

This was the second place where we got some drinks. We did the varying reviews here (all of 3 review), but I decided for us that we'd go try it out. We walked over and found the place pretty easily. I mean it wasn't too difficult to find, but it was kind of weird they didn't have their own entrance into the restaurant but no big deal. I wanted to try both the cherry lime ricketey and the pink lemonade so the boyfriend got the ricketey and I got the lemonade. I'm so glad we did it that way because I found the cherry and lime drink too bitter and sour. I know that it's supposed to be sour, but it was just too much. Didn't love it as much as I hoped it would have. The pink lemonade was so good! I love the throwback to a childhood drink (with some alcohol of course). So good. The vibes are here but it all stops there…read more.. Let me start by saying that I love this place. Just needs a bit of cleaning up on their transparency. The 'keep it open' policy is something I appreciate but would also appreciate an itemized receipt when you close out. Here's why to keep your eye out when drinking at this establishment. 1- when you close out, it's helpful to verify what you consumed to ensure you're corrected charged. My receipt was the merchant copy and the customer copy. Itemized? Really had to ask for it. 2- the merchant copy - it asked for a tip and the total amount. When we closed out our beer and well drink, it was ~$28. Weird, right? So my thought was that they clearly charged something incorrect. 3- when there's something automatically charged, it had better be communicated to me upfront. The gratuity was automatically added and IT WAS 20%! No sign, no way to notify me that it was already added. It didn't even say so on the merchant or customer copy. On top of that, the copy asked for AN ADDITIONAL TIP. For something like that, I had better get great service. 4- The service here is spotty at best. There's usually one bartender for the often busy bar. Not a problem, usually. But with that high of a price, better serve your customers well and have a fully stocked bar. 5 - the options were lacking. Two things you'd think would be stocked but weren't - espresso (come on, even Kahlua) and apple liqueur for an espresso martini and appletini were too much to ask for, I guess. Overall, a disappointment. Good thing they have the vibes nearly right. But awful business practices.

I was so thrilled to check this pub out especially with our doggie, Meatball the Bulldog! How perfect right? A Bulldog at The Bulldog Sports Pub. I got the Jalapeno Margarita while my boyfriend had the Tito's Mule. My drink was very sweet with a kick of jalapeno while his was pretty good. They had music playing. It seems that there is a modern jukebox where you can pay to pick a song. There was one pool table for people to play. So many people came up to pet Meatball and give him so much attention. He absolutely loved it! There was one guy who asked if he can say "Hi" to Meatball, and we said that it was okay like we normally do. This weirdo was basically making out with Meatball; not cool at all man. Then Meatball flipped on his back, and he was holding Meatball. My boyfriend told him to let go of Meatball. It was such an uncomfortable interaction. Not normal at all. He even said, "This is my NYE kiss!" SMDH. The guy sat down at a table that is across from us, and he kept looking at us.
