If you read my review or Bulgogi, you will figure out why and how we walked into this place! On Christmas Eve, it was pouring. My family and I were looking for parking. We walked into Bulgogi, but we were met with very poor service. We walked out and walked right into this place. The table host was amazing. Very prompt brought us the menus, had us sit down. When I had a clarifying question right off the top asking for room temperature water and vegetarian options - she said yes we have both. I said thank you. She said she'll give us a few minutes to order and she left... We ordered burgers and fries, and my nephew had a beverage with his order. She showed us the table with condiments and sauces etc. The food was great! The veggie burger was great!! The fires had a nice touch to it - crisp!! Ambiance is great, the wall photos are amazing. The bathroom was clean. There was lots of refills on water, thoughtful of her. We didn't have to ask her she brought it. The table host had a very cheerful disposition, just the right, kind of attitude for a holiday and for rainy weather, and in general for any business!!!! Must try, I recommend this place! read more

I've been wanting to try Sur Burger for a while, since I live in the area and I finally decided to stop by. I was amazed at how spacious the inside is. I initially thought it was just a small outdoor burger joint. The restaurant is very well decorated, and the staff is incredibly attentive. I ordered the Volcano Combo, and it was absolutely delicious. The chili cheese burger was a standout for me, it was messy, but worth jt!! Be prepared to grab extra napkins, though. It's been a while since I've had a burger like that and it did They have a variety of items on the menu there's so much to choose from, which means I'll definitely be back to try more. Are that way too fast, no photos. I ordered The Works with the spicy sauce on the side (glad I did because that packed some heat but sooooo good). I substituted fries for jalapeño poppers and they had the perfect crunch and amount of cream cheese! Came here randomly and glad I did. Also, Jason was delightful. Ate at Sur Burger on Thursday, November 20th. I ordered the Sur Burger. It was OK but at nearly $20 for a 1/2 burger combo, I thought it was a little expensive. I asked for sweetener for my plain iced tea and they did not have anything. They gave me regular sugar served in a small dish. read more

Service was great, only had one server but she kept up wonderfully. We came in with 11 people and were able to find seating, however it is a smaller place so try either going with a bigger party a little before or after the lunch rush. We LOVED the crispy garlic fries but the burgers were bit dry and on the well done side. The Phoenix fish sandwich was also just ok. The service was very good from Ly though. Came here post race (Monterey Bay Half) and had a delicious burger that hit the spot. Burger was juicy and the toppings and sauce was delicious. It did take about 45 min for the food to come out but that's because it was packed post race and so completely understandable that they were backed up. Additionally.l, I tried the sur phoenix and it was not spicy at all; as it was labeled. The cabbage was almost kind of sour?? I think they tried to replicate kimchi or something but it did not work. Good: Classic Sur Burger Veggie Burger Chili Cheese Dog (pictured) is solid but not great Poor: The Spicy Sur; it's an Asian-style hot burger. We had high hopes based on the menu and other reviews. Not sure if we caught the cook on a bad day, but not much flavor to our meals. We had a mix of burgers, salads, and appetizers. Everything needed salt (which wasn't on the table). The appetizers came out without plates and utensils. When we asked for them, they were paper plates and plastic utensils. Interesting... The restaurant dining was nice, bar had 6 stools, and 2 TVs. I ordered the Sur Ring of Fire combo which included a spicy coleslaw fish sandwich, fries, and a fountain soda. The fries were mid with no real flavor. The sandwich was not very impressive flavor wise. It was almost too spicy to enjoy. Would have been a half star better if the bun was toasted. After a morning at the aquarium we wanted to get away from Cannery Row, and Sur Burger was a great choice. We sat outside, but ordered inside. The staff was incredibly friendly, helped with menu questions, and was just generally awesome. We got kids chicken fingers and grilled cheese, and two double cheeseburgers. The chicken fingers were beautiful: lightly battered, perfectly fried, and only white meat. The grilled cheese was not too crispy (super clutch with our picky 7 y/o), and served on wheat bread (plus for parents). Their burgers are awesome, hot, and literally dripping with cheese. Our 9 y/o barely finished hers, which is saying something: they aren't small. Their fries were super freshly fried, and delicious. Absolutely perfect way to finish a long day in Monterey, and the kids want to go back there next time we come. read more

The 3 stars is for their fried calamari. When it arrives, we thought that the waiter brought mozzarella sticks accidentally. I've never seen calamari strips and they tasted like imitation crab. I've never returned a dish back but today was the exception. The burger was decent though and service was good. read more
