Wow! This place is fantastic! On our last night in town, we ate dinner here. We arrived a little after 5pm and were told it was 60-90 minute wait, which we were fine with. We were able to get seats at the bar and hung out there until our table was ready at about the 90 min mark. The vibe of the building, views, quality of service and food/drinks were all top notch. The Ranch has fallen. Starting with their no reservations policy which is a lie. Our party of 6 arrived at 4:30 when they open on a quiet weeknight and were forced to wait until 5pm for no reason. Guests of the hotel and groups of 4 or less were promptly seated. My wife with a cane was told to stand in the corner and wait. I wandered around the half empty restaurant in an attempt to figure out the issue. There was an empty table for 6 in the middle of the dining room not far from the bar and piano. 5:05pm came around and where did they seat us? At the table for 6 that had been empty since our first arrival. Drinking glasses were dirty. Bus boy showed up with drinks we did not order. 5:15 waiter arrived to take drink orders. 5:25 waiter takes our dinner orders. No bread offered or delivered. 5:30 we overheard the waiter change the special of the day to something at least 2 of our party would have ordered. 5:40 one appetizer arrives. Still no bread offered and no salads. Asked for bread finally and it came at 5:45 with our soup and salad. 6:20 food arrives but no fork. Nearly 2 hours after arriving at an empty restaurant we got our meal. My pork ribs were overcooked, the linguini lacked any flavor and was undercooked, the soup was watery, the prime rib was good. The noise level was a constant 85 decibels and crossed over 90 decibels many times as the pianist attempted several times to be louder than the bar noise. Three hours later my ears are still ringing. Dinner for 5 plus an appetizer for the 3 year old cost $300 before tip (No drinks). the food was average, nothing special, only the prime rib was worthy but not at the prices they charge which are double what they advertised on their website. We've been coming here for decades but not anymore. too much money for average food, bad service, and horrible environment. they REALLY need to do something about how they manage the front of house. We were looking forward to eating at Clint Eastwood's Mission Ranch Restaurant. It was a good experience, but not a great one. The restaurant itself is an old farmhouse, and lends itself to the shabby chic. The place is clean and well kept, but certainly not upscale. We ordered the pork ribs and the baked sea scallops. We try to keep reviews as positive as we can, so of the ribs we simply say: choose another option. Like, for instance, the baked sea scallops! Delicious in a wine based broth with bread soaking up the goodness! Well worth ordering! Service was very good, with a staff who are friendly and accurate. Except for a few special occasions, the restaurant does not take reservations, so plan to arrive at least a half hour before you want to eat. My mom grew up watching Clint Eastwoods show & has never been to Carmel so it was her first time & I thought why not take her here to his mission ranch. Came on a Sunday for their brunch! We got there 30 minutes early and there was already a long line. Bathrooms are located directly where the line is near the entrance of the restaurant Staff seats guests groups at a time there was 2 ladies seating groups & they asked our preference inside or outside, we chose outside because it was a clear blue sky sunny day. Our waitress was lovely & after she took our orders for drinks water & mimosas we were up and grabbing our food. Inside a man was playing the piano. The view was breathtaking we had front row to the sheep grazing and even caught a few scratching their backs on the tree branches too cute. If you look passed the sheep you can see the beach. Stunning. We started at the dessert station to grab what we knew we could finish Then we made our way to the team of two gentlemen working side by side creating our omelettes, such hard workers and were really quick at taking omelette requests/cooking while keeping the line moving, at the end of the omelette station they're also cutting us our prime rib. Everything was tasty, they also have a fish/salad bar station & I was pretty stuffed but ended up getting a Greek salad at the end of my meal. Mission ranch can't be missed when visiting Carmel! The atmosphere is so serene - the view of the ranch with the sheep, and the ocean peaking in the background is something really special. Apparently, they don't take reservations and if you are not there before 5:00Pm and willing to wait until they start seating, it is unlikely you will be happy. We ate in their casual restaurant that overlooks sheep and deer, in a field leading to the Pacific Ocean. Our first time visiting! We arrived on a Saturday around 4:45 to get in line for dinner service at 5. The line looked long, so I was worried, but when we put our name down they told us we'd be seated by 5:15, which was a nice surprise! We were seated right away, and the staff were very attentive. I am not sure if servers realize how tacky it is too question people whether they're gonna stay there a while or longer right from the start. Been seeing this come up on my feed a lot so decided to take a trip to Carmel to try it out. The views are nice. The vibe is nice and calm not loud. Plan ahead if it's windy. My friend and I went on a road trip to San Francisco and added a couple of nights in Carmel. This place is magical in a rustic wholesome way. I stayed in a farmhouse setting with parking outside my door. My friend was on the other side in a similar room. All of the basics were offered, but one can tell that it's a little "long on the tooth". The walls are all made of wood and somewhat thin. The bed was ample and very comfortable. The best part is their restaurant that offers great meals and service. The piano bar livens up the room! We started our evening with cocktails on their outdoor deck overlooking a vast pasture with their signature sheep. This view was breathtaking! Isabela was our jovial and lovely server, I ordered a Hendrix gin martini, very cold, with 2 olives and a twist. She returned with frozen glasses filled to the brim, all perfect, I kidded her that I was going to take of a quarter of her star for forgetting the twist. That became our joke for 2 days. The burrata , oysters and goat cheese were the perfect start, so good. For entree I had the NY Strip steak and it was delicious . Lastly for dessert we ordered the crème brûlée and that was a nice ending to a wonderful dinner. They don't take reservations so my advice is to get there for opening and if the day is nice, definitely sit outside. We saw great reviews for this restaurant online so we decided to give it a try on our most recent visit to carmel. Overall the property is very beautiful and it was very cool to see all the sheep. Unfortunately it was a foggy day when we went but the views look amazing in everyone else's photos. We only waited around 30 minutes and were seated outside on their patio. They have heat lamps next to every table which was absolutely essential and made it such a cozy environment. The service was amazing overall. For the food the highlight was definitely the mussels appetizer. It was delicious with spicy chorizo garlic and tomato. They gave us fresh garlic bread out of the oven and we even asked for more to get the rest of the sauce from the mussels! For drinks they have great alcoholic and NA options. I got the elderflower lemon drop which was amazing and we also got a strawberry lemonade. For my main course I got the scallops. Overall I was happy with how they were cooked and they had a buttery flavor. However I was not a fan of my risotto as it didn't have much flavor, the spinach was not seasoned, and the rice didn't seem to be cooked fully. I truly can't imagine a more perfect wedding venue! I lost count of how many guests came up to me after the wedding to gush about how stunning the space was -- rustic, romantic, and full of charm. Mission Ranch is perfectly situated near Carmel River Beach, with breathtaking pasture views of sheep, the ocean, and Point Lobos -- truly the best of all worlds. There are beautiful on-site accommodations for family, and the rooms are lovely (we stayed in the honeymoon cottage and loved it). The venue itself strikes the perfect balance of gorgeous, rustic, and chic, with a warm, welcoming feel that made the whole evening so fun and memorable. The staff was phenomenal -- I heard this from so many guests, and it was absolutely true in my own experience. Kayla and Rosie from the events team were a dream to work with: kind, responsive, and so helpful, especially on the big day. The serving staff made sure no one had an empty glass and that everyone felt attended to all night long, which allowed our guests to completely relax and enjoy themselves. Carmel is known for being dog-friendly, so I was surprised by how Mission Ranch Inn handled a basic ADA situation. They don't allow pet dogs due to nearby sheep, which I understand, but service animals are protected by law. Instead of asking the required legal questions, the staff gave me cold stares and made no effort to handle it properly. It was clear they weren't trained and had no idea how to comply. I left and won't be back. They need to train their staff on ADA requirements. read more

Words do not do Mission Ranch justice. This is a Carmel staple. They do it how it should be done top to bottom. Excellent service, great views, and tremendous food that could not be more fresh. Great for date nights, great for happy hour, and the best for special occasions. If you're here for the day you have to at least attempt to get a table here. It's usually pretty busy but missing out on Mission Ranch is not an option when within 25 miles. Live music is always great, be warned though it is loud, but that doesn't take away from the experience at all. Walk around the grounds while you wait and try to get there for a sunset. The ambiance was also ideal: you can dress comfortably but still have an elevated dining experience. I also appreciated their "no use of cellular phones at the table" rule. I did sneak a few photos, but other than that, you are encouraged to enjoy the peaceful environment. I highly recommend the Whiskey Marinated Beef Brochette - the meat was tender and sweet, it was truly delectable! My partner ordered the Jidori Chicken, but I think he was a little less impressed with his dish (it lacked flavoring/seasoning). I would recommend sticking with a red meat.
