We went to The Taproom for my birthday and it was such a treat it's easily one of my favorite restaurants and never disappoints. We ordered the New York steak and the Kobe Gold (which comes with the salt board). The Kobe Gold is my absolute favorite, it's $135, but it's 100% worth it and we order it every time. So flavorful and perfectly cooked. The brisket queso was delicious, and you can't go wrong with the Caesar salad. I love that they put anchovies on top. We also had the mac and cheese and a baked potato that was HUGE. Everything was spot on. For drinks, we had wine and an Old Fashioned it was good, but I do wish it came with one large square ice cube instead of the smaller ice. Just a small touch that would make it even better! We shared a half Taproom sundae for dessert and it was the perfect amount for four people. Nick was our server (we've had him before) and he always does an excellent job. The famous Tap Room was rebuilt during the renovation of the Lodge at Pebble Beach last year. Locals will rejoice that everything was redone but to most will look the same. Some things should just stay the same...and really there was nothing that needed fixing IMO. Small little changes to menu are almost overlooked as well. Bottom line it's really nice. A place a 4 some enjoys after a round of golf at Pebble Beach. International travelers abound as do many tourists from other states making the pilgrimage to one of the famous golf Meccas in the world. Now home to a U.S. Open every 5 years. Regarding the food ( a new kitchen was a major reason for the renovation) is a good 4+. It's primarily a Steak House but has a large variety of choices to satisfy anyone. Prices are what you'd expect at a 5 Star resort but one doesn't feel fleeced but rather ok with it when ambiance, especially the service is considered. The wait staff are always great and consistent and any one of them refers to you as "The "x" party--how's the X party enjoying the entrees?" What can we offer "X" party along with your ..you get my drift. Go and have fun. Be sure and look at the photos lining the dark green walls. The are all new. Updated and current. The tap room is very nice! This isn't where it usually is as they are doing construction on the real site, but the view of the course itself is still nice. Our waitress was great and attentive. I didn't want the cheese on my salad and she asked if I wanted to substitute a different cheese, which I hadn't even thought to do! I ordered the beet salad and it was light, yet refreshing. This was a great surprise while in Carmel! I shot over to the iconic Pebble Beach Golf Course and had an incredible dinner at the Tap Room, their temporary steak house while the original is being renovated. I dined here this last Tuesday, in their new temporary location, while the old location is undergoing renovations. They have set up a pleasant spot along the golf course. It doesn't have the same clubby feel, but it is pleasantly appointed with both indoor and outdoor seating and a sizable bar. It is easy to find with posted signage. My lunch was excellent, as usual. That's refreshing. I enjoyed the prime filet Mignon, which I always order. It melted in my mouth! So delicious! So tender and perfectly cooked medium rare. They didn't have favorite au gratin potatoes on the current menu. So I ordered the potato wedges. These were tasty and huge! As always, great selection of wines by the glass. It is a traditional pub with full sit down meal service. We were lucky enough to grab a table for early dinner during Car Week. The hostess was very kind and seated our table of four very hungry people. The only stipulation was that we can only have the table for 1 hour 45 minutes. We had the Prime Rib (different cuts) and it was delicious and tender. Then we ordered two desserts because I have a weakness for bread pudding and the ladies wanted a sundae. The bread pudding had excellent texture and taste. But the Tap Room Sundae was at a different level! We ordered the salmon dish and asked for a second plate as we were going to share the dish between us. Instead, the chef split the dish for us and two plates were presented at the table each with the accoutrements of the dish. The salmon was tender and perfectly prepared, exquisite in flavor. My husband later ordered a piece of chocolate cake of which he offered to share as well. It was the most delicious, moist and chocolate filled cake we have ever tasted. The wait staff was very accommodating, friendly and efficient. When leaving, we asked the maître d' to give our compliments to the chef. My husband and I stopped in here after a hike around Point Lobos on our wedding anniversary which also happened to fall this year on Easter and spring break, so things were busy at The Tap Room. We were seated right away, and the room was beautiful. I got a Reuben sandwich (I always like to order this if it's on the menu) and it was so delicious with the corned beef sliced thin as it out to be, and my perfect ratio of sauce and sauerkraut to Corned beef on beautiful swirled rye/pumpernickel bread. What I'm really here to tell you about though is my server, Nick. He was so friendly - but not intrusive, conversational - but not too chatty. Just a top notch server. I've had lots of good service before at restaurants, but Nick will be remembered by me even after I've forgotten about the food. Hubs wanted to check out Pebble Beach, so we paid the $11.75 for the 17-mile toll fee. However, the fee can be reimbursed if at least $35 is spent at one of the Pebble Beach restaurants, which is how we ended up at The Tap Room. We arrived at the restaurant at around 2pm and able to get a table right away, although it was pretty busy. I wanted something light - soup and salad. We couldn't decide between the French Onion or trying the garlic soups, so we ordered both to share. The cups were pretty deep, and both soups arrived piping hot. The French Onion was rich in flavor and cheesy. I liked the crispy onion topping as well. The garlic soup was different - creamy and didn't necessarily taste like garlic - savory and flavorful. I decided on the Waldorf salad. It was just ok to me, but hubs liked it. Hubs ordered the Kobe Brie burger, which was served with truffle potato wedges. The wedges were hot and crispy, and the truffle flavor came through. Took a bite of the burger to give it a try. The brioche bun was soft and pillowy, and the burger was very tasty. There was a wait for our food, and our server came to apologize and noted the kitchen was backed up with an influx of orders. Honestly, when I first arrived I thought it would be super touristy and because of that, I thought quality would be average. I was proven to be very wrong. Staff was incredibly friendly. We had an amazing server who was so kind and patient with your 3 year old. They even bonded over her niece loving Paw Pawtrol. I love that she took the time to get to know us. We sat outside on the patio - nice views of the course. I ordered the prime rib chili. It wasn't too bad. Had a nice little spice to it and lots of cheese, would've loved a little more meat. The cornbread that came with it had the perfect crispy outer crust and soft on the inside. My husband got the buffalo wings which tasted good and the size of the wings were appropriate as well. Our little kiddo got the club sandwich from the kids menu and we were shocked at the quality and size of the sandwich. It came with plenty of bacon, avocado, and turkey. Needless to say, it was more than enough for our little guy. And the shoestring fries that came with it were perfectly salted and crispy! Dined there on 19Oct2025. If you don't want to read my experience, recommend avoiding this and go to The Bench or Pèppoli. Those two places are leaps and bounds better than The Tap Room. Both are Pebble Beach restaurants. So I'm not one to make reviews because I don't want to tarnish a place but my wife and I went to the Tap Room for dinner soon after they reopened for renovations. For a place that you would expect quality service for the price you're paying, it was a bad experience. When I tried to make reservations, they wouldn't let me mention it was for my first anniversary - we are locals so we didn't have a place on the resort for them to add these notes to our profile. Anyways, we get there, they place us at the table right next to the main entrance where everyone is checking in, which is a bar area and not in the dining area which had a better ambiance. The chairs were close together so servers and guests were hitting my chair about every 30 seconds. It got annoying. Our waiter didn't greet us or ask if we were visiting the resort, celebrating anything, etc., just handed us the menus and walked away. He'd place our silverware on the table instead of on the mats that were in front of us so just another knock. When we ordered, there was no recommendations given or anything but we knew ahead of time what we wanted. We still would like to hear if there are specials or recommended dishes but that was not the case. When we got the steaks (NY Strip and Tenderloin) they weren't bad in the sense they were the appropriate doneness we asked for (med/med-rare), but it was heavily burnt/charred on the outside so thankfully we got the red wine sauce to cover the flavor. The garlic mashed potatoes and jalapeño cream corn side dishes were really good so definitely get that if you can. Now for dessert. We were celebrating so I wanted to get something. I tell the waiter we're celebrating and would like to get the half order sundae. Comes back 10 minutes later saying they aren't doing that currently after he mentioned they do half orders. I say to my wife, "well it's our first anniversary I'd like do get something" and we get just a scoop of ice cream. The waiter then asked me "oh you're actually celebrating something?" No... I don't just say stuff like that or dress up for my health. He wasn't getting it. We did overhear him also forget that it was the table's beside us birthday celebration. But another table he was super chatty with them so it appears if you are a regular or something that they care but not someone who wants to have a special meal at a steakhouse. I do want to say that the server filling up drinks (younger man) was awesome. He was on it, service with a smile, definitely needed a raise for the service he gave. I talked to the assistant manager of this place afterwards just to tell them it was a bad experience for a first anniversary. I said I'm not trying to get that waiter fired but just make adjustments for the next people who celebrate, that they don't have to have the same experience. Left with a handshake and a card to call for future reservations. Nothing comped or anything. I wasn't looking for that either but for a place like Pebble Beach, I'd expect better service to their customers. read more

Despite the awful environment & substandard food dishes they charge same prices. I'm sure kitchen staff tries their best & servers doing their best but management didn't do their best. I came here for lunch the day before father's day with my son and wife. I have been here before, and I love the atmosphere. We ordered potato skins, bacon cheese burger, Kansas City strip steak, asparagus in hollandaise sauce and macaroni and cheese along with various drinks. When we arrived I was quite hungry by design, we ordered and received our cocktails promptly. The potato skins arrived shortly, we were disappointed that there was only 4, but they did taste good. The rest of our food did not arrive for 30 minutes. My son had the bacon cheese burger, he liked it, and I had the last couple of bites and it was delicious and high quality, meat was excellent and the bacon peppered. The steak was awesome. The asparagus was exceptional and a good value. The macaroni and cheese was ok, maybe it would taste better once it cooled down. I highly recommend calling to make reservations in advance. I have never been here where it is not at least a little busy (and for good reason). Also, a common question I get is don't you have to be playing or staying at the resort or live there to eat here, but all restaurants at Pebble Beach and along 17-Mile-Drive are open to the general public (but if you are staying here, just know you could probably eat at The Tap Room every day of your stay and have something different - and enjoy it all). The ambiance is really nice for all. You can definitely dress up and make it a night out, but a lot of golfers come in with their shorts, polos, and baseball caps right after playing, so it is not required to be dressed incredibly formally. I have always been comfortable in nice jeans and a shirt and have been visiting since I was a child. The menu is expansive, but not huge. The issue really is that everything on there is appealing. I was tempted to try the Wagyu, but decided not to. Most recently when I visited, I wanted something more focused on protein and veggies (I had recently eaten a lot of carbs - even for me who loves bread and pasta - and wanted something lighter), so I ended up trying the chicken dish, not expecting much, but figuring it would be decent. I was so wrong, as decent is a severe understatement. The flavor seeped through every bit of chicken, not just where the skin was, but the whole chicken. It was also pan-seared, and the crust that created at the bottom was amazing. The garlic cheese bread (yes, I did still need to get some bread in) was wonderful with roasted garlic cloves on it. No one in the group was disappointed in their food, just that no one had room to try more. We had a birthday in our group, and they give a special celebration cake slice for that, which I was lucky enough to try. It was one of the best restaurant desserts I have ever had.
