Bacon cheeseburger

$20 bacon cheeseburger: pretty darn good, and sizeable too. Good enough to thoroughly scratch that classic restaurant burger itch. That said, Monterey Peninsula has a number of spots that can do the same making for stiff competition.

This place is amazing! The food is really good with a lot of different options from meat loaf, steaks, pork chops to seafood and more! There is something for everyone. The place itself is a bit of a mystery lol. I felt I was in Fromville not because there were monsters but the decor was a little all over the place. But food was really good and they had Seaside Pilsner on tap too. I saved the service for last because you always save the best for last! Every team member was super nice and attentive. Our drinks, order, food and check ins were all super friendly. They heard it was my birthday from our conversation and without asking they brought me Flan with whip cream, strawberries and candles. Food and service was so awesome we came back for breakfast the very next day!

We have always enjoyed Googies being locals The Googie omelette is really good and their eggs Benedict is my go to but today my mom and I went for a late lunch and she enjoyed her BLT with avocado and I've always liked their cheeseburgers there. They're very good very flavorful. Our service was great and it was a very busy when we went. I definitely recommend it was also very clean. They always have a very clean restroom. I wanted to give them a 4 1/2 star, but I don't know how to do the half.

We finally got to eat here the other day, was out with my daughter & we each order our food & then split it with each other, blueberry pancakes, burger & sweet potato fries, coffee & water, the coffee was excellent, the food was very tasty, everything was cooked to perfection, lots of things on the menu, we'll be back

Googie Grill consistently serves delicious food in an adorable, retro setting. Our server today was Gladys, who was friendly, professional and efficient! We were a party of 5 and she took care of us flawlessly. We ordered the beignets, they were delicious! I enjoyed their chilaquiles, which were perfectly prepared. Mr. Wonderful ordered the crab-cake Benedict and cleaned his plate. Googie Grill is a spot we will continue to visit when we're visiting the peninsula.

Grill Halbut the best ever

The best ftesh seafood had the fresh caught halbut .. And my wife grill salmon .. The flavors were just amazing.. They top any other restaurant that serves a fish dinner . The service team is just great. . The manager agrees you at the door, like a family member an yiur preference of where you like to sit. He make sure you have the best meal and serves it right of the grill. He rembers everything you likd.', the red wine and tel you about the local coast wines. 3 fish tacos lying flat in a to go container.

First Time, Last Time I thought I would try something new for the Easter weekend and I had read recent positive reviews on this restaurant. Sorry, I can't support those positive vibes. After asking a few questions I decided on the (3) fish tacos with the loaded baked potato (extra charge) and a side of clam chowder. The pictures below show the tacos which were the most disappointing. While the corn tortillas taste fine, as a "To Go" order they are packaged completely wrong. The preparer decided to lay all the tortillas flat overlapping one another in the bottom of the box. Then all the topping including sauces were placed on top of the tortillas allowing all oif the juices to make the tortillas soggy. When I attempted to separate the tacos for plating, they completely fell apart. I have never had to eat a taco meal with a fork until now. On top of that the preparer also gave me a gift. A large slice of cabbage rind as part of the slaw. Really not hard to see (picture below). The fish flavor overall was bland. As for the Loaded Potato, their idea of loaded is just a thin layer of melted cheese laid over a few chives and small clumps of bacon bits. They correctly provided a small container of sour cream on the side, but it was totally insufficient for the size of the potato. Each condiment should have been provided in the same manner of the sour cream allowing the customer to dress their own food to their liking. So you give up the choice and value for rice or mashed potatoes and substitute a oversized potato with insufficient condiments, and charge an extra $5. The Clam Chowder definitely was lacking clams and potato's and was overly salty to the taste. For a bill total of almost $50 I don't think I can in good faith recommend this restaurant.

Pinto's Chorizo Omelet

Service was great, and the food came out so quick! The prices were a bit high, but it was worth it because of the quality of food we received. They gave me a biscotti with my Americano and homemade jam with my toast! It's the little touches that really make a difference. And, my chorizo omelette was delicious, as was my partner's huevos rancheros. Great food and service overall.

Fish & chips w/cole slaw

Ok, 2 times is enough. Won't be going for 3 strikes! We went back for dinner this time because I thought the fish & chips looked decent when we were here last. I was wrong! The fish came in cut up pieces, not a whole filet of fish. The fries were good tho. I had the supposedly buttermilk brined fried chicken. My chicken didn't seem brined, it was a bit dry or overdone. Probably fried earlier & refried upon order. The chipotle sauce that it's served w/was bland & watery. It had a slight Smokey taste, but that was it. I would say the sides served w/our meals were good, fries, pilaf rice, & veggies, but entrees completely missed the mark. Servers were pleasant & I appreciate that, but I'd like my meal to be good as well!

Let's get GROOVY at the Googie Grill! Jennie, the owner, is fabulous at making this place the GO-TO spot for locals, tourists, service men/women and everyone in between. Their food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the price is right. I got the Cobb salad and it was so good, filling and everything I could want in a dish without the guilt. What exactly are you waiting for? Check this place out - they are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! They are GOOGIE GOOD!

Took my son Lucas to Googies Grill and he said it was delicious, and requested to have his birthday breakfast there, and requested to give the restaurant a 5 star review.

Fish N Chips

Googie Grill is a solid choice if you're going out to eat in Seaside. The appetizers I tried were delicious (mushrooms, calamari, and brussel sprouts) and the fish and chips had a nice fry to it, not greasy and the twisty fries were a nice "twist." We had a large group so the service was strained but they were very friendly. The overall look and feel was modern but homey. I only wish the TVs were tuned into sports instead of a still scene screensaver. From the other diners with me, the halibut was a favorite as was the prawn risotto. Overall it was a very nice spot.

Googie Grill Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Googie Grill

Do they offer gluten-free pancakes or gluten-free waffles for breakfast?

Unfortunately not at this time… we do offer gluten free bread that we can use to make French toast…

Do they have outdoor seating so I can bring my dog?

They have outdoor seating and I think it's ok to bring your dog but to be sure, do call and ask. I know at least one restaurant with outdoor seating that don't allow dogs.

Does Googie Grill have a Wait List policy?

Yes, they allow your dog and even have a menu for it. The waitress served my dog with water at the same time she brought the drinks. There are outdoor heaters if it's chilly.

When we walked in, we were asked to join the waitlist. we waited MAYBE 5 minutes if that and seated at a booth. Our server was attentive, and brought us our drinks shortly after we ordered them. something I liked was how efficient the service was despite how busy they were that morning. I ordered the spam an eggs, potato cakes, and sourdough toast and jelly with a cup of hot tea. everything was amazing! I totally recommend this place if you're visiting the Monterey area or even if you're a local!

This place does breakfast, and the American side of the menu which I got to taste, was executed well. I'd go back for that. For those curious about the Filipino aspect, I wouldn't have high expectations. Their lumpia wasn't super special. Compared to the thousands of lumpia I've had in the US and across the world, they were just OK. For the price they were charging per piece, I wasn't the biggest fan. They didnt blow me away in flavor. They were also a bit burnt/ over fried for my liking. I also ordered the pork belly fried rice. Definitely Filipino inspired, with the adobo inspired sauce. Both the pork itself and the sauce were sweeter than I expected. The fried rice as well was disappointing. It was neither Filipino style for breakfast (sinangag) or a typical Chinese fried rice. It was an Americanized heavy-on-the-butter style. When it comes to viewing with a Filipino lens, it was a bit boring. I dont mind twists on Filipino food. There's plenty of it and plenty I've enjoyed, including on my numerous trips to the motherland. Unfortunately, the ones here were a bit underwhelming. I'd go back here for the amazing staff and limiting myself to the American traditional breakfast. For those hoping for a Filipino breakfast that shares more authentic flavors, I'd keep very low expectations.

We stayed in a balcony king room, and it was clean, spacious, and had plenty of room to spread out. Other than that, no complaints at all. We'd definitely stay here again.

First walking in the room, we noticed a weird smell and the bathroom smelled like somebody had just used it . The carpet in the bedroom is old and dirty looking. The bathroom shower and bathroom share one combined floor so when you use the shower, the entire floor gets soaked. I had to use up all the towels to soak up the water on the floor so we didn't slip and fall. When you flush the toilet it sounds like a hurricane. If you plan on using the bathroom during the night, be prepared to wake up everyone. You can also hear the toilet flushing in any room near yours. Also, there's no sink countertop, it's a stand alone sink so there's no place to put your stuff and get ready. You can hear the people in the next room like they are sitting in your room. The door to get into the building did not latch close on its own so anyone could walk into the building. Also when you check in, they charge an additional $20 parking fee, a $35 recreational fee and a refundable $50 fee. This was on top of the $369 cost of the room. I almost forgot I was awakened in the middle of the night to several people in the hallway, saying there was somebody running down our hallway and had just went up the stairs. This was probably because the building doors didn't latch like I mentioned above. For this price, I suggest you shop around and a smaller, cleaner, quieter, and newer hotel. This was a big disappointment for a Hyatt hotel, and not up to their standards.

We were seated right away without reservations. The place looks smaller than it is - they have a bunch of outdoor seating. It is a typical diner style establishment. And I'm not sure how accessible it is unless you know exactly where to park - there's a lot of stairs around. But it is a really cute location with lots of nice flowers and landscaping around. I can't remember our servers name - but he was really wonderful & had a great attitude. I ended up going with a custom skillet & my partner chose the biscuits & gravy and brisket chili. My custom skillet was super yummy & I was pleasantly surprised they had vegetarian sausage! It was well seasoned & the mushrooms were thinly sliced & cooked to perfection. I actually really enjoyed this meal. My partner really enjoyed his biscuits & gravy and thought it was one of the best ones he's ever had. He also was starstruck over the brisket chili, so I would definitely say to get a cup of that if that sounds like your thing. I would definitely stop back here on my next visit to Monterey/Carmel. I've been coming here for over 20 years, and it continues to deliver great food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere every time. The staff is always warm and attentive, and many of the employees have been there for years, some for as long as 3 to 10 years. That says a lot about how they take care of their team, and it shows in the way they treat their customers. The service feels genuine, consistent, and very local. The food never disappoints. Their fresh, made-from-scratch biscuits are a must-try, pun intended, and the eggs Benedict is another favorite. It's the kind of place where you can tell people take pride in what they're serving. The only thing to keep in mind is that on Saturday and Sunday mornings, the wait can get long, so it's best to come early. From Scratch is also very kid-friendly, which makes it a great choice for families visiting from out of town. And if you do arrive early, remember that Carmel mornings can be a little chilly. There's a reason we have a local magazine called 65°. Ask to sit inside unless you don't mind the cool coastal air. Overall, From Scratch is one of those dependable Carmel spots that has earned its reputation over many years. Great food, great people, and a true local feel.
