Rigatoni with shrimp, fresh tomatoes & capers.

We stayed at the Hotel Abrego and only realized they had a small restaurant after we had checked in. The menu looked really inviting so we decided to eat dinner at the bistro. We had 3 items: tacos, pasta with shrimp and their seasonal salad. Everything was freshly made and absolutely delicious. We asked the customer next to us if he had ever eaten there before & he said, "every night!" He apparently worked week days in Monterey & that's the place he liked to frequent. The dining was a pleasant surprise. The prices were less than what we would typically pay for lunch. Even if we weren't staying at the hotel, we would still choose the restaurant. The first time in my life actually loving hotel food! I think the reason it's not packed is that there's little on line about this place.

I was shocked! We saw this place on yelp and walked in. It is inside a hotel but the food is soooo good!! Chicken skewers and ribs were so tender and tasty. The bruschetta was amazing. Ernie our server was so welcoming and the food is delicious. It's like having dinner at a friends house. You have to try this place!!!

    Chef's Special : Bread Pudding a la Mode w/ caramel sauce...sooooooo good

Long drive from San Diego so we didn't feel like going out for dinner...so glad we didn't. Decided to eat at the Bistro and we were not disappointed. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi and he ordered the Bacon and Brussel Sprout Flat Bread. Not what we were expecting- i thought it was a pasta dish but it came witj toasted sour dough bread and the sauce was so delicious that I could have drank it right out if the plate. The flat bread came in a different presentation but absolutely delicious! Then came the dessert...the bread pudding...what a wonderful way to end the meal! Didn't take pics of the food because we were hungry and we went to town as soon as it was served. Hat's off to the chef in that magic kitchen and Karen the Server/Barista/Awesome lady was great even with a full house.

We just has a pretty yummy dinner included with a deal for the hotel. It's a smaller restaurant but cozy so you can chat with loved ones. The service was good and he checked on us just the right amount of times. Even the Manager stopped by just to make sure we were happy. The appetizer we chose was the shrimp quesadilla. Super delish and the salsa paired perfectly to balance the roasted red peppers and caramelized onions. I got the garlic chicken pizza. Thin crust and a great amount of cheese made it super yummy. Try the Monterey Wheat beer they have on the menu.

Grace took exceptional care of us -- she offered thoughtful recommendations, was genuinely attentive, and maintained that perfect balance of being present without ever hovering. The level of service extended beyond just our table; you could see the same care given to everyone around us. Thank you, Grace! The menu is always evolving, which keeps each visit fresh and exciting. There's a real sense of creativity behind the dishes. I also appreciate the designated parking in the back -- it makes the experience that much more convenient. Whether you choose to sit inside or outside, you really can't go wrong. The ambiance works beautifully in both settings. Stokes Adobe continues to be a place I look forward to returning to.

Visited this restaurant for Mother's day. Ironically, even though I have lived in the area for…read moredecades somehow I missed this one. Saw some reviews and photos on Yelp and decided to give it a try. As my reviews tend to be lengthy let me summarize up front and add the details for those more interested. Service was 5 star, Ambience 4.5 star, and for Food I want to go higher but for reasons I will go into I must stay with 4 star. And because I think the food is the most relevant measurement I chose 4 star. The experience overall was great. We reserved indoor as Monterey can get a bit chilly but once on ground and with outdoor fireplaces and heaters it was the better option. And with a 3.5 yo in tow the outdoor really was the better option. It gave her freedom of movement and the ability to be more of a noisy child than the indoor would permit. Our waitress was attentive and great, the seating by the fire was a bit hard but she brought out blankets that could add warmth or in our case cushion to make them less noticeable. We ordered basic pasta for our child and let me just say the portion would have fed two adult men. Nothing amazing but it was palatable and she enjoyed it. We ordered drinks to include one of their specialties and it was enjoyed. And we started off with an order of the oysters. They were fresh, well presented and offered multiple options to flavor the oysters. For main courses I selected the Hen House homemade pasta with mushrooms and saw you could add scallops for $17.00 and it sounded brilliant. The dish was flavorful, creamy and only surprising in that they delivered one stunning scallop on a side dish. Slightly confused I remarked, "ummm is this the $17 scallop". Which in retrospect I would note I really wanted to see the menu again because I sincerely believe they likely advertised it as a singular "Scallop" which leaves only myself to blame. In all honesty the scallop is probably the second best scallop I have had in my life (Libertine Social in Vegas is hands tied the absolutely best to date). But I digress... I enjoyed the dish, mourned the single scallop and cleaned my plate. We also ordered the Focaccia Bread and butter starter. Let me just say that I love bread, probably more than I should and fresh baked focaccia is at the top of my list. I am accustomed to the outside being a bit crispy but the inside being pure pillowy heaven. They appear to cut them in slices and then bake them or toast them slightly before service. Definitely not a fan of toast, or crunchy bread it was not a high point but again well presented and despite my preference I did eat it with my pasta. Lastly my partner had the Wagyu beef, the description sounded great and the presentation was there but I think there are moments that when you read a menu you envision the finished product and let's just say it felt diminished in my minds eye. Flavors aside it was well cooked and the sides tasted fine. I just felt like I heard that grating voice from the 80s or 90's..."where's the beef". Now I say all of that to provide my view on the overall experience but I would say they are definitely worth the experience but go in knowing it will be a bit pricey. And to be fair if it's beef you are looking for I recall seeing a massive 32ounce porterhouse on the menu. But the price matched its size. In the end it was a strong 4 star experience and "scallop" aside if 4.5 was an option I would probably give it. Just not a 5. Hope this helps and please take note of my photos as they convey my write up. To our waitress, you did great!

The salmon fillet was huge, the eggs poached perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was divine. Only compliant is I couldn't finish it as it was so much food. Good problem, really. Hubby got the calamari steak sandwich. This is a beautiful 'piece of meat' breaded and fried - absolutely delicious. Having a breaded steak between two pieces of bread was redundant - so we sliced the steak into ribbons and simply ate as an appetizer, dipping the slices in the best tartar sauce I have ever had. We cannot wait to come back - but will only order one entree because they are so big (not complaining).

Looked on Yelp and Rosine's came up. Easy walk from where we were and excited to try it after reading reviews by others. Well what wasn't mentioned in the reviews or on their menu is that Clam Chowder is only served on Fridays . We found this out after we were seated and served something to drink, now we are disappointed but didn't want leave because couldn't find anywhere else close by that served Clam Chowder other than places on Fishermans Wharf. So we tried the calamari steak sandwich but ordered it on grilled sourdough rather than the French roll It is normally served on. Came with sweet potato fries as an option. Sandwich was good but sweet potato fries were kind of rubbery. The salad was good with plenty of chicken in it and very tasty honey mustard dressing. Menu had a lot of options including some delicious looking humongous layer cakes for Il dolce. Our serve was friendly and accommodating on the bread change for the sandwich, prices were reasonable and it looked like they offer a full bar menu. Bright and simple dining room part of the old architecture of downtown Monterey, with outside dining as well. We enjoyed our meal but really wanted the Clam Chowder, I really thought that being a coastal fishing town that Clam Chowder would be a daily dish everywhere and not just on the wharf. Oh well.... Rosines we will have to return to try your Clam Chowder, maybe next time on a Friday. Bon Appetitto

It's become a running joke in our family that I save up my appetite all year for the bacon-encrusted pork chop with dried apples and sriracha risotto. But jokes aside... it's the truth. This dish is so good that I've been known to pick the bone clean with my teeth, shamelessly. No regrets. The service here is always top-notch--warm, attentive, and genuinely patient with our kids (ages 4 and 6), which is no small feat on New Year's Eve. The food came out quickly, the pacing was spot-on, and the orecchiette pasta for the kids was buttery, cheesy perfection, loaded with parmesan just the way they like it. My wife ordered the smoked beet salad (a bit smokier than she prefers, but still delicious) followed by the mushroom risotto and was completely satisfied. And then there's the ambiance. Montrio feels like it's been pulled straight out of a Humphrey Bogart film--dim lights, piano and jazz floating through the room, hats hanging, time slowing down just enough to remind you why places like this still matter. It's cozy, classic, and effortlessly cool. We skipped dessert only because we always end the night at a local ice cream spot, but we were tempted to linger. We'll absolutely be back again next year. Montrio continues to deliver, year after year.

We started with crab cakes, move on to the pork chop and short ribs. Both were made to perfection. Dessert was a toss up but glad we had the cake. For all you pop rock lovers out there, the addition of this candy to dessert was unexpected but surprisingly good. Will definitely be back to try the other dishes.
