Short Review:
Great Thai place to eat. Golden Thai Kitchen feels like a family business own that does the basics of Thai food, and they did a fine job. Unfortunate part is, because COVID-19 is still active, they only do delivery and take-out so, sadly, I wasn't able to dine. Because of that, I can't tell if their service is good either, but for one, they got all my orders correct and even double bag my to-go which was a plus for me. Otherwise, for more details, read below.
Long Review:
Golden Thai Kitchen is located on the furthest west of Phoenix. It's actually much closer to Avondale and Tolleson. Parks was limited, but there were plenty of parking spot for other areas. It would just mean you'd have to walk a bit. But during such dire situation, COVID-19, you're not gonna have a problem with parking, like-wise to many restaurant because it's mostly takeout. Outside, there isn't much going on. On the inside, you can see all the chairs and table are arranged in one corner showing that they do not allow dine-in. But suppose if they allowed dine-in I can see how the tables and chairs would be rearrange. The furnishing from walls to ceilings to furniture, it fits the typical Asian style restaurant that I would often see. While, not Thailand furnished per se, it still capture that Asian cuisine in some sense. Moving on, because this is a takeout order, I already had some entree in mind. I got Pad Thai, Red Curry, and Pad Kee Mao. They said it will be ready in 20 minutes.
Pad Thai (Chicken): It doesn't look like any pad thai I have ever tried. It looks so plain without any sauce, but don't be fooled. This pad thai is amazing despite the plain look. I always though pad thai was suppose to be orange-y like thai tea, but this one is like plain rice noodles. The taste is without doubt pad thai. My only one problem is that it does taste slightly dry. But to be more precise, it needs some kind of sauce like Pad Kee Mao.
Pad Kee Mao (Shrimp): Essentially, this is just Pad See Ew, but more rearrange version of it. It is suppose to be spicy, but I told them to do it mild spicy. Everything about it was good. The only problem was it is slightly salty. The shrimps were good, but I think beef or chicken would have worked better for Pad Kee Mao.
Red Curry: My favorite out of the three dishes. Such creaminess of the coconut and the smell and taste of red Thai is extraordinary. That saltiness is just right for the flavor of spicy and sweet with coconut harmonizing the taste together into one red-orange soup.
Dumplings: This is given to all entree. Since I bought 3 entrees, I got 3 Dumplings. Nothing out of the ordinary. It taste fine. I recommend frying it again for more crispiness.
In conclusion, in quantity, for Pad Thai/Pad Kee Mao/Red Curry, a B/-B/B+ and in quality, B/B+/-A. Honestly, I was kind of disappoint in the portion. The price is certainly cheaper than most Thai place I went to around Arizona, but the portion is also a little less than most Thai places as well. The only portion that feels fair is the curry. For quality, I favor the curry. Pad Kee was also good, but Pad Thai needs improvement. In comparison to other Thai places, they always get their Pad Thai right. Here, they do get the taste right, but something about it doesn't taste like the pad thai I'm used to. Otherwise, a solid Thai restaurant if you're looking for one.
Side Note: I also place the food on a separate plate to see how it would look like when it isn't in a to-go box. Also, you do get steamed rice for your curry, in case if you were curious. read more
