    chicken teriyaki rice bowl
    Jason M.

This review is on their rice bowls which are fantastic for value (and also taste great). I believe the owners of this place are chinese rather than japanese but any doubts towards authenticity of the food are quickly squashed when you try the items. The rice bowls have these very nice garlic chips in them and the sauce is so heartwarming. There's also a decent amount of meat in each bowl. If you pay with cash you get a 10% discount so take advantage of that! With Bento Boy closing down earlier last year (RIP), this spot is one of the new PENG, LENG, JENG spots for quick, affordable and good quality food. I only hope inflation doesn't hit these guys as well but in the meantime, I've gotta reiterate how great the value of the food is here. A lot of yelpers seem to be commenting that the sushi and sashimi are also amazing here so that's a positive sign. I'll be looking to try some of those items and do an updated review later!

Small little gem found in Richmond hill for takeout sushi! Found their rice to fish ratio was just about right, and very generous portions and decent prices. I stumbled across this gem when I saw it hidden at the corner of a plaza, and just had to check it out. Ordered the S2 maki party tray about $35.00, was good for about 2-3 people. Pretty good! Sweet potato crispy roll, spicy tuna, spicy salmon, dragon rolls, dynamite roll, California roll, chicken teriyaki (I believe?), salmon avocado... yummmm! Also ordered 1lb sliced sashimi on the side (for sale in the fridge), could have been more fresh, but pretty good for sashimi cuts. Overall, would recommend this place and would check out other things on the menu! Check it out!!! Be sure to call ahead of time! Sushi!!!

I had first gone to Ginza Sushi Express around the time when they first opened! I did so to take advantage of their grand opening deals but after reading so many WONDERFUL customer service experiences, I will definitely be ordering from them again soon :D -[SRIRACHI LOVER A] 18 pieces of maki $15 ~6 pieces of Salmon Kamakachi roll ~6 pieces of Spicy Tuna Tempura roll ~6 pieces of Spicy Golden California roll The free item that I received was the salmon pizza which was quite good! It was part of their opening promotions that I ended up being gifted with it so I'm really happy that I got to try it. They have a really technique when it comes to making maki - their rice to filling ratio is actually perfect in my eyes. I'll have to peruse their menu once again for the next time I am craving sushi (aka RIGHT NOW!)

Great consistent sushi. A regular as their prices are reasonable and the fish quality is good. Usually order their specialty rolls, my favourite is the Kobe beef roll. If you live in the area, they offer free delivery if you order $30+ which is better than delivery apps because delivery apps have marked up prices + service fees.

Our go-to sushi spot! Love this place - portions are good (pretty big for me) and prices are reasonable (cheap imo). The staff are always friendly to us, which is a bonus. We usually get their party trays and dinner sets. Most of the time, we aren't able to finish it because portions are that good. They also have a variety of options to choose from (especially with their new menu).

Salmon lover, eel dragon roll, hamachi sushi, torched scallop sushi
    Val L.

Decided to change it up and try different sushi spots nearby since it's all take out now anyway. I ordered earlier on the phone for the takeout at 7pm - I was there early so I waited, but I appreciate that my order wasn't finished and just sitting around, which is what I'm used to at ai sushi. The salmon lover is definitely worth it if you enjoy salmon. I don't always like platters since there are some fish that I don't care for, even though it's the cheaper choice. I added an order of torched scallop sushi and hamachi. The hamachi sushi texture and flavour was ok but too much rice to fish ratio. Scallop getting torched didn't really do anything for the sushi so I would just get regular scallop next time. The dragon roll was gigantic. And very tasty. Great price. I'll come back to try the foie gras sushi and other rolls next time.

This seems to be a mom and pop shop. It is a tiny place with few seating. A perfect set up to thrive in the current COVID situation where most of the business would be take out orders anyway. I was attracted to their "Dinner for four". Just fill in the number of people you are trying to feed and you have the menu set! It includes salad, miso soup, choice of fried rice (beef, chicken, or vegetarian), shrimp and vegetable tempura, a healthy dose of sushi and sashimi, a dish of beef and a dish of chicken cubes. The amount of food definitely feeds more than four unless you are a group of four hungry, growing teens. The sushi and sashimi platter is what I would expect except the wasabi is a bit too dry and does not readily dissolve in the soy sauce. The beef tastes good to me, but I would associate it as a tasty Chinese dish rather than a Japanese dish. I enjoyed the tempura alright. The tempura is on the hard side rather than light and fluffy. I would definitely group Ginza Express as a place that provides good quantity to fill up my empty stomach. I also added a pineapple fried rice in additional to the set dinner. Unfortunately, it has a metallic taste to it. So I had to throw it out. Dec 13,2020 A lady from the restaurant called me and told me she saw my review on Yelp!. She saw that I was not thrilled with the Pineapple Fried Rice and offered me a generous credit. I definitely did not expect this amount of effort in tracking me down to make things right. I have to give them an A+ for customer service. I needed to order dinner anyway and ordered a dinner for two using the $20 credit to offset the bill. I also got a deep fried dumpling appetizer for free. I enjoyed the fresh sashimi. The wasabi is much better this time, readily dissolving in the soy sauce. The tempura is also lighter and fluffier than last time, a big plus from my taste buds. I asked for beef fried rice without eggs with the meal today. As before, the fried rice that came with the meal is one of the best item apart from sashimi. I like the miso soup a lot as well. I will see if I will have the chance to come back and try the pineapple fried rice again in the near future. The lady thinks that maybe I did not like the shrimp paste. In short, I would give them A+ for customer service and effort. The portions are consistently generous and will ensure your tummy is filled. The set dinners are great values even without the credit. As a result from my experience during the second visit, I revised the star rating from a 3 to a 5.

I've seen some of my foodie friends coming here, so I was wagered today try their sushi as I was in the area. I'm also big on supporting locals so if you as well, definitely check them out! It's always best to call ahead of time to know what they have if you're looking for something specific. The food took around 10 mins (just as they have told us). We got their chirashi and sashimi, and were surprised how fresh everything was overall. This is a great spot if you're looking to takeout fresh sushi, and are in the area!

Fresh sashimi! You can really tell the fish they use is high quality. Their jumbo shrimp is truly jumbo size. The maki tray I got was just such a good deal! Lots of varieties & options. Proper food handling. Staff and chef are friendly. Will definitely come back for more!

Just recently found this hidden gem in Richmond Hill! It's in a pretty unexpected plaza but don't be fooled by how it looks from the outside ! I've ordered from them twice already and needless to say I haven't been disappointed. For what the prices are, you can't really go wrong with the food ! It's not the fanciest type of sushi but it def hits the spot when ya need it to! Will definitely be coming back more ! Today I ordered the Sirachi Lover A (i believe) and I wasn't expecting much, however, I was blown away by the quality and taste of the food. The spicy salmon was indeed SPICY, and I LOVE when the spicy sushi actually has a kick to it. The fried rolls were great and garnishes & flavors were of great pairing as well. Note, I also ordered these via Uber Eats.

As you may or may not know by now that I value service A LOT. if a restaurant has bad service, I wouldn't go back, no matter how good the food is (service description is always at the top part of my review while food description is at the bottom). So I Literally started coming here 2 days after they opened up. Unfortunately, when I first found out about them, they didn't have menus online - so I had to call and ask if there was any way that they could email me a menu. Winnie, the manager there, was VERY helpful and pleasant to deal with on that very first phone call. Shortly after we hung up, I got her email with their menu on it. So of course, after looking at their menu, I placed an order for their Salmon Lover and Spider Roll, half hour later, I drove over to pick up my lunch, something I was very much looking forward to! Only to find out that on orders over $30, you get a free salmon sushi pizza! Upon getting there, Winnie introduces herself and we chatted for a bit. Ended the conversation with me saying 'you'll be seeing a lot of me'. I stayed true to my word - I now come here at least once a week, sometimes three times a week. And each time I get here, Winnie surprises me with even better customer service than the last!! Okay, enough about service, back to food, which is what yelp is mostly about. I must say, I do find their food a little on the pricey side (but then again, with the service I get, like VIP service), I don't mind paying a little extra!! My favourite things to get from here is their Salmon Lover, their Ginza Combo #1, Pork Katsu Don, and a new favourite, Sake Don!!!! For Salmon Lover, it's approximately $18. It includes: salmon/avocado hand roll, 4 pcs of salmon sushi, salmon kamakachi, and 4 pcs of salmon sashimi. Highly recommend this for someone who loves/adore salmon! Ginza combo 1 is around $14 and it includes: salmon avocado hand roll, 2 pcs each of salmon sushi and white tuna sushi, 3 pcs of salmon sashimi, and 2 pcs of tuna sashimi. An option for those who want different fishes in their diet! Express chirashi don is around $16 and damnit, Winnie did an excellent job explaining what it is to me. It was a rice bowl covered with salmon sashimi (or if you wanted it can be covered by tuna sashimi,) ikura, and uni!!!! The second she described this dish to me, I was like 'yes Winnie, I'll take what you just described! Come pick it up in half an hour' LOL!! Pork katsu don is around $9 - this is definitely my go to on days where I don't want fish (and that's EXTREMELY rare)! It's a big bowl with a big piece of pork cutlet/eggs on top!! So I don't have a lot of pictures for me them, just because it's always takeout for lunch at work...but I highly suggest anyone around the area to check them out!

Where the customer gets (or should get) their sushi. I will be honest... The frontside of the restaurant was quite unassuming. However, the food in this place creates a euphoric feeling for your taste buds and soul. All of them were quite excellent. I think my least favorite were the rice dishes (and let's be honest you don't really need to order these types of items if you come to this restaurant). The fish had a freshness that seemed quite special for a sushi restaurant. Everyone seemed quite friendly, and overall, the place exceeded my expectations greatly. Will 10/10 come back for my dose of fishy goodness.

    Mandy L.

torched foie gras sushi is amazing. It is a must try item. The sushi and sashimi are fresh. The chef also asks what you like if you don't have anything in mind, so he can suggest you what to get or he will help you decide. It is also amazing to watch how chefs‍prepare the food as well There are also a variety of food to choose from, such as the refreshing cucumber wrap rolls, tempura, deep fried cream cheese crab meat wontons, etc. Then they also have the classic marble pop drink (ramune) with five flavors to choose from.

Party tray A with crab roll.

The restaurant is super quiet and they offer great quality of food with great service, and the price is expensive if you choose to order sukiyaki set (expect $80+ per person). You can choose between sushi sets at different price level or sukiyaki from the menu. This suits the need of our group given some people prefer sushi but some couldn't eat raw food. They also offer a couple of limited appetizer dishes such as tempuras and unagi don. If you booked the sukiyaki table and want to order sushi, you need to call them in advance to notify which sushi sets you want. We tried the sashimi and sushi courses at $55, which included miso soup, 5 pieces of sashimi, 8 pieces of sushi (squid, toros, salmon, scallop etc.), handroll and matcha or black sesame icecream at your choice. The sushi is smaller than average, suitable for small eaters. The course is totally worth the money. I love every piece of sashimi and my favourite sushi include the scallop and the squid. Everything was super fresh. The dessert was also having the perfect sweetness level for me. In addition, we also tried the sukiyaki for two ($110), which includes mushrooms, cabbages, great quality of Angus beef, yummy tofu and udon. Again, all the material was with great quality and super fresh. I especially liked the sweet sukiyaki soup, the tofu and the udon. We also ordered some shareable dishes including chawanmushi, unagi don and cod. Cod was cooked to perfect (soft and flavourful), and unagi don had quite decent portion. It would be better if the unagi could be softer from my personal opinion. Chawanmushi was mediocre. Overall, I strongly recommend this restaurant to fan of Japanese cuisine. It meets different people's needs by offering both cooked and raw food options, and the sushi set definitely has great value for money.

That's because every other guest was a well-known "regular" -- a very good sign. We were ushered through the tranquil restaurant and seated at the sushi bar, a zen ambience. We chose the $55 sushi+sashimi omakase lunch course, and it didn't disappoint. The eight pieces of nigiri featured a somewhat typical selection of fish (and hotate/scallop), but slightly edgy and unique in the choice of seasoning and flavours, prepared by Chef Takinami with all the pomp and ceremony and you would expect from fine omakase. The pacing was excellent, we never felt rushed from piece to piece; the wait staff were attentive as would be expected from a high-end Japanese restaurant, on par with omakases that cost three times as much. Overall, incredible value on the meal, for both the food and experience. We couldn't help but look around at what the regulars were enjoying (in addition to their omakase nigiri) -- botan ebi nigiri with deep fried shrimp heads, chawanmushi, cooked dishes featuring monk fish livers, tempura appetizers and more... some great ideas for our next visit!

The hot food selection was a pleasant surprise. The grilled whole squid was smoky and well-seasoned. The cheese wontons were crispy, and the addition of crab to the cream cheese filling was a nice touch. The dim sum options were also decent, with tasty har gow and shrimp siu mai. A standout was the crab claw balls, something you rarely see at AYCE spots. They were crispy and packed with umami, and easily one of our favorites. Ordered tempura vegetables and shrimp with 6 pieces total was only around $9. This tempura tasted truly delicious compared to other pricier restaurants! The whole staff greeted us the moment we came in with smile and felt their kindness/patience while we were looking through the menu. They were very accommodating with changing spicy salmon roll to dynamite roll in the dinner sushi sets for me since I don't eat spicy food. Other restaurants would always charge extra regardless if the price was the same or cheaper. The rice ratio for the rolls was PERFECT! Definitely the best one I've seen by far. I would love to try their signature rolls next time to see if they're the same. I would come here again for lunch and check them out. -1 star because: The sushi to rice ratio is a little too much so I had to take some off unfortunately. Also the salad that comes with the sets was bland, lettuce and 3 strings of beets.

For a lunch bento box around ~$17-18 it comes with a roll, tempura, salad, miso soup, rice and salmon teriyaki, I thought that the food quality was amazing. The rolls were not just basic rolls, they were packed with flavour, texture (tempura bits) and had an excellent rice-meat ratio. The salmon terriyaki portion was amazing. Service was a little on the slow side, the the food definitely made up for it. I'm looking forward to trying out other sushi rolls & menu items as their menu is quite extensive! Will definitely be coming back in the near future. If you're looking for a good place to stop by for quick sushi
