The highs are that the service is very friendly, I got greeted with an enthusiastic hello as soon as I entered the small shop even though it was the end of their day. With the recent change in ownership, I was pleasantly surprised when I ordered the most expensive all sashimi platter for $90, that it came with the standard salmon, salmon belly, maguro tuna, snapper, butter fish, 3x pc of botan shrimp... No scallops, no uni... I don't think I've ever ordered the most expensive set to not get those type of sashimi as part of the order. Don't get me wrong, the sashimi is still a decent good grade quality, and the new owners are friendly as well. Perhaps this was missed from their end. Hopefully this was a one-off as I wanted to surprise some people with the nice variety of high quality sashimi and not having the scallops and uni was very surprising. A hidden hole in the wall takeout restaurant that will definitely be added to one of my go-to sushi takeout places. The ordering process was seamless and quick. Some other sushi places in the city are packed with orders especially on weekends and it's hard to get through or you have to wait upon pick up. I ordered ahead on the phone and was told my order would be ready to pick up within 30 minutes. The food was ready by the time I got to the restaurant and I barely had to wait. The place itself is located at the bottom of an apartment complex, but there's a small parking lot conveniently nearby. The place is super small as there's not a whole lot of standing space in there.. you grab your food and go. I was pretty impressed with the price and platter that I ordered. I got a medium mixed party tray ($47), which I felt was good value for 60 assorted pieces, and the fish tasted fresh. So dont expect to walk into a fancy sushi place. However, they do have a few bar stools if you want to enjoy your sushi on the spot. When they first opened, the chirashi bowl was a smaller bowl but they upgraded to an even bigger take out bowl which I find to be the opposite of what most businesses do. I will say that the freshness of the sashimi sometimes fluctuates but recently, they have seemed to up their game and the salmon is so fatty and sweet. If you pay cash, you get an extra 10% off and this applies to their party trays too. Ho Sushi is within walking distance from work which is why I go at least once a week. They have an offer where they will deliver to us if we order at least $30 or more, but I'm not sure if they do delivery in general since it's not advertised on their pamphlets. read more

I have ordered from Ho Sushi many times and the sashimi is always fresh. In October, I ordered a 36pc sashimi tray but only got 31pcs so I called and sent a picture. They were accommodating and offered to deliver the 5pcs to my house. I told them I was a too far so we agreed they would credit me next time. Next time comes around and I order for pickup again. When I got there, they apologized and gave me my order. When I got home, I was surprised to find out that they didn't just credit me 5pcs, they gave me an extra 3pcs!!! I wasn't expecting it because I know it was an honest mistake. I thought it was very nice of them to do that. Thanks Ho Sushi!! I'll have to check out their rolls next time. For a similar amount of money, you can honestly just head over to Ai Sushi instead. Overall, the quality is below average, tasted cheap. The sashimi could've been fresher because it was borderline unpleasant to eat, and the rolls itself just lacked in every department. The sushi rice itself tasted like old rice, and the rolls were poorly made - it just felt like they put whatever was leftover together. Just wanted to update my review. I popped in again recently to get some take out. We got the dynamite roll, spicy salmon roll, and salmon lover set. The salmon lover set comes with 3 pcs of salmon sashimi, 3 pcs of salmon nigiri, and a salmon avocado roll. I was pretty disappointed. The salmon was really not fresh so I really did not enjoy my food this time around, which is unfortunate because it's a far cry from how the quality used to be when they first opened. I'm hoping it was just an off night. I would go back to give them another try and hopefully it'll be a better experience. On a lighter note, they've changed the trays they put their food on. I've never seen or gotten a "flamey" sushi tray before. I found it pretty amusing. It looked like something Guy Fieri would serve his sushi on. read more

I love coming here for cheap and quick sushi. The prices are lower than most sushi places for the same quantity. I usually get the 40 rolls party tray. There are some rolls that are vegetarian, like sweet potato, and cucumber and avocado, in this tray too. Calling ahead would save you some time as a 40 roll tray can take 30+ mins if on average, or longer if there are orders before yours. However, I would consider it pretty quick as there is usually only 1-2 chefs. This place is located at the corner at the end of the plaza. The workers were nice enough to still let us order even though they just closed (we also called ahead of time to ask if we could still come). My friend and I just got some rolls to share, I really loved the salmon avocado rolls because the salmon is a thick, good portion. The prices for the party trays are also pretty reasonable. This place is not really meant for eating in, since there's only a few seats near the windows and the place is quite small. Found this highly recommended place online and decided to drop by and give it a try for lunch. I was surprised to find out Ho Sushi Express is not exactly a restaurant, but rather a take-out counter with only a handful of stools lined up by the window. However I was not disappointed at all. The menu (which you can find on their website) is extensive and very aggressively priced. Everything looked good. I initially wanted to order the sashimi party tray (18 assorted pieces for only 15$), but ultimately opted for the Hokkaidon (Salmon roe, uni/sea urchin and sweet shrimp on rice for also 15$). I was surprised to find out I had a 10% discount so it ended up being only 13.50$ plus taxes. It took about 10 minutes to prepare. It's probably because this place is so popular: it received 6 more orders (walk-ins, by phone, via SkipTheDishes...) while we waited. The cashier was very nice and offered us tea for free. When the food came, I was impressed by the presentation. It looked good, and it smelled fresh. I eagerly finished my meal before you can say Jack Robinson! Came here with my boyfriend after seeing all the great reviews for Ho Sushi Express. As a dedicated sushi fanatic, I was super excited for the chance to try out a new sushi joint and Ho Sushi Express definitely met my expectations! I ordered the 40 piece Sashimi Sushi Roll platter and wow was this worth it. The portions were massive and when we were finished our meal we had to wobble out of the restaurant because of how full we were. The fish is extremely fresh and the ingredients go perfectly together. The seating is limited so you won't be able to have a candlelit dinner here but there are a couple of seats so that you can munch on your sushi right away. The staff are incredibly helpful - the lady checked on us multiple times to make sure that we had enough soy sauce, wasabi, paper towels, etc. Overall if you are in the Scarborough area / have easy access to a car from downtown Toronto, I definitely recommend you to give Ho Sushi Express a try. Decided to venture into this place since I was in the area with a friend and was craving some sushi. This is an unassuming hole in the wall sushi take out place with only 4 seats. The location is not extremely obvious, but its definitely worth a visit if you live in the area and want to grab some sushi. The restaurant has been operating for the last 3 weeks and is owned and operated by 3 sushi chefs that each have 10 years of experience working in other sushi restaurants in Downtown Toronto and Markham. We decided to order the 36 piece sashimi set that was for only $30. Added 2 orders of rice ( not included with the sashimi). The food was surprisingly fresh and good quality. Given the location and the prices, our expectations were much lower. The pieces of sashimi were cut generously. The rice was seasoned, which was creat given in many other establishments you are served plain old steamed rice. Pro tip: There is a fantastic Chinese restaurant next door that serves some kick-ass bubble tea, plus they make their own soy sauce in house. I went to Ho Sushi based on the yelp reviews and I happened to be close by. As most others have mentioned it's a small unassuming place in a condo complex. There is parking right in front. It's quite small inside with very limited seating. I got my stuff to go. Also pickup orders are 10% off. I ordered the Unadon (Bbq Eel on rice) $11. And Green Dragon roll (4 huge pieces) $6. The Unadon was pretty good. Great value for the price. The rice was quite seasoned and had furikake on top. Good portion and flavour. The Green Dragon roll was excellent. The shrimp tempura was wonderfully crunchy and avocado was generous and creamy. Plus they were huge. It was a full mouthful that's for sure. The only thing is they forgot my wasabi. !!! But I had some at home, so all was not lost. I'll just make sure that next time it's in my bag before I go. Would I go back? Absolutely! I just found that they have a new menu with price increase. My favorite Hokkaidon went from 15 to 17. If you check my previous reviews, I mentioned that the hokkaidon went from 3 pieces (from when they first opened) to 2 pieces of shrimp, uni amount went down, and the salmon roe amount was about the same. Somehow I figured with the price increase, they'd at least give a little more than before. Nope. Plus the super friendly owner lady isn't there anymore. The name of the restaurant and the looks somewhat reminded me of the fast food sushi restaurants in the financial district, but I could not be more wrong. What a pleasant surprise this was! As we walked in, we were greeted by two young chefs. Both of them cheerful, and extremely polite. We opted for the Sashimi platter, a MASSIVE 30 piece tray that costs a mere $30 (tax in). We ordered rice on the side, ($2 per bowl tax in). The sashimi is one of the best I have had in Toronto, period. Fish is served in meaty, thick slices that reminded me of the ones I had in Japan. The rice on the side was not dry and boring, but real sushi rice with the right amount of seasoning. We got a chance to chat with the chef, and they revealed both of them have worked at restaurants downtown for a pretty long time. The only downside is that there is very limited seating, so the food is probably best enjoyed at home.  I honestly can't wait to be back. read more

I ordered the regular chirashi bowl and it had tuna, salmon, red snapper, octopus, ika, salmon roe, a huge raw shrimp, & white tuna. It's quite the variety for one little bowl. I found the fish to be fresh, not the upmost quality - but fresher than most places and quality at par with most places. The sushi rice was bland, it perhaps needed some seasoning but texture was good. Name seems apt.. short form for Horrible sushi. Visited them yesterday for lunch, ordered a dinner special with 12 piece sushi and a tuna roll. The dinner special contained a piece of egg sushi and one piece of rice of rice wrapped in seaweed topped with fish roe, so essentially it was 10 piece sushi meal instead of 12. Some of the fish pieces had a very strong stench too it and seemed stale. The tuna maki contained tuna with skin on; which made it extremely chewy, difficult to eat and disgusting. Will not visit them again. When reported the problem they said we'll tell the chef to remove the skin from the tuna. No apology. No offer to replace the dish. Nothing. read more

Since there are many Asians who live in those condos, their Sushi are pretty good compared to other fast food sushi take out places. It is not expensive at all , so Ho sushi is good for parties or other occasions when you need lots of sushi. However this is a fast food type sushi place not a Japanese restaurant which has other Japanese foods. They have only Sushi.
