Is it possible to give 0 stars? As someone who can tolerate grocery store sushi, I had to throw most of this away :( and it was $$. Salmon was laced with so much fishiness it tasted like skunk, rice was so mushy and doughy, fish roe was just inedible, shrimp was Gingery and rubbery, and the sea urchin was stinky. Good as rotten.

A hidden hole in the wall takeout restaurant that will definitely be added to one of my go-to sushi takeout places. The ordering process was seamless and quick. Some other sushi places in the city are packed with orders especially on weekends and it's hard to get through or you have to wait upon pick up. I ordered ahead on the phone and was told my order would be ready to pick up within 30 minutes. The food was ready by the time I got to the restaurant and I barely had to wait. The place itself is located at the bottom of an apartment complex, but there's a small parking lot conveniently nearby. The place is super small as there's not a whole lot of standing space in there.. you grab your food and go. I was pretty impressed with the price and platter that I ordered. I got a medium mixed party tray ($47), which I felt was good value for 60 assorted pieces, and the fish tasted fresh. The one thing that would make the platter perfect though is if it had a bit more sashimi. Other than that, very pleased! Happy to support a small business like this one :)

Great prices but low quality - but hey it's still sushi... Stumbled upon Ho Sushi via an Ubereats and ordered takeout. Was attracted due to the low prices but what seemed like pretty impressive reviews. I'd say the sushi is pretty similar to grocery store level quality so don't expect much. We were pretty disappointed based on the reviews which probably misled us. The rolls weren't particularly well made. The ingredients didn't seem the freshest either. I personally won't be back and will just pay a bit more and go elsewhere but if you looking for value, good quantity and just dying for sushi - Ho Sushi remains an option.

Was excited to try this place after all the good reviews. However, when I tried it, the fish was not the freshest and they were definitely not cut properly. We also ordered uni ($8 for 3 pieces), and one of the pieces had gone bad as it was darker brown in colour (this isn't too visible in the picture) and tasted sour.

Excellent Service! I would not say this is one of the best takeout sushi I ever had but it is good at this price point. $30 tax in for a 40 piece sushi, sashimi, roll platter? The lady that took my order is polite and friendly. My order was ready as promised and I got to pick it up right when I stepped inside the store. Parking here might be an issue as the front does have some pay parking. Ho Sushi Express is really Ho Ho Ho!

Stumbled upon this place on a food blog and decided to adventure out to take my chances. And i was not disappointed! The place is meant to be a take out spot as you can read on its name. So dont expect to walk into a fancy sushi place. However, they do have a few bar stools if you want to enjoy your sushi on the spot. What I ordered: Uni (sea urchin) sushi Scallop sushi Unagi (bbq eel) sushi Ikura (salmon roe) sushi Botan ebi (shrimp) sushi Hokkaidon Green dragon roll Rainbow roll Spicy tuna roll Pretty impressed with everything i ordered except for the spicy tuna roll. I will probably not go for that again, not because it wasn't good, but its too basic. Id rather leave room for more uni/scallop/unagi sushi. Yummmmm my favs. If they're in my hood, i think i would at least visit once a week, no joke. I believe they just opened up recently and had a 10% off discount when i visited. There's limited street parking right in front.

A bit disappointed by the drop in quality compared to the Christmas Party platters (pictured here) which were phenomenal, overall tastier, more generous with the sesame seed toppings and sauces drizzled. This time it seemed more rushed and felt like the extra special details were left out. Normally this place serves good food, maybe it was an off day? I'll give them another chance next time.

This place is quick in service. They do a lot of take outs, party trays in affordable price. Food is great and staff are very friendly. The practice safety measures, staff wear mask. Not enough parking because it's a condominium building.

Party Platter (60 pieces ROLL set) - $45!!
    Kat A.

We ordered a party platter (60 pieces for $45 plus 10% off if you pay in cash). Our platter has a variety of sushi rolls from avocado roll to salmon, rainbow dragon, green dragon, sweet potato roll, california roll, etc. The rolls were delicious and man, were we full!! It was a nice surprise :) It was well packaged and put together. I will order again. They also gave us a free seaweed salad on the house which was super nice!

The value of the Kaisendon is incredible. You get 11 thick cuts of sashimi and one giant shrimp and a heaping spoon of fish roe for $13.25. When they first opened, the chirashi bowl was a smaller bowl but they upgraded to an even bigger take out bowl which I find to be the opposite of what most businesses do. I will say that the freshness of the sashimi sometimes fluctuates but recently, they have seemed to up their game and the salmon is so fatty and sweet. If you pay cash, you get an extra 10% off and this applies to their party trays too. Ho Sushi is within walking distance from work which is why I go at least once a week. They have an offer where they will deliver to us if we order at least $30 or more, but I'm not sure if they do delivery in general since it's not advertised on their pamphlets.

The party tray is a good deal, ordered 40pcs chef assorted maki it comes up to almost a dollar a maki as well as the salmon sashimi.

Quality food you'd find at 5 star restaurant... but at a fraction of the price. Pleasantly surprised!! First time ordering from here after searching on Yelp for take out. The time was around 10pm on Friday night. Ordered the medium Sashimi party tray and 3 orders of Hamachi (15 pieces). 10% with cash came to approximately $62.00. What a feast!! Loved the quality and freshness of their food so much, I went back the next day for the Hokkaido (uni, sweet shrimp and roe on rice) for $15.00. After writing this review, I think I'm gonna drop by tonight! Think I've found my "go-to" place for take out sushi/Sashimi.

Original order supposed to be 36 pcs
    Thao K.

I have ordered from Ho Sushi many times and the sashimi is always fresh. In October, I ordered a 36pc sashimi tray but only got 31pcs so I called and sent a picture. They were accommodating and offered to deliver the 5pcs to my house. I told them I was a too far so we agreed they would credit me next time. Next time comes around and I order for pickup again. When I got there, they apologized and gave me my order. When I got home, I was surprised to find out that they didn't just credit me 5pcs, they gave me an extra 3pcs!!! I wasn't expecting it because I know it was an honest mistake. I thought it was very nice of them to do that. Thanks Ho Sushi!! I'll have to check out their rolls next time. I'm always nervous buying rolls because some places lay the rice on a little too thick.

It's my go-to spot to get my don fix - I love the wide variety of dons (rice bowls) that they offer with various fish and seafood combinations. There are also unique appetizers in the menu, such as Purple Yam Croquettes, Crab Crackers, Braised Bamboo Shoots with Shirasu (immature whitebait fish), and Takowasa (marinated raw octopus pieces, to be eaten with or wrapped in nori / seaweed). Although the dons are the main highlight of their menu (hence the restaurant name), they also offer traditional sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and sets (similar to other Japanese sushi restaurants). Miso Aburi Scallops were very flavourful - nicely torched, giving the scallops a nice grill / char taste. They came with red and green seaweed, and a bit of fish roe. Large Premium Hana Don contained a good amount of fish and seafood, including a whole abalone, uni, shrimp in the shell, aburi salmon, ikura (salmon roe), salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi, yellowtail sashimi, other various fish sashimi, tamago (egg), and a few slices of cucumber on a generous bed of rice. I liked that the rice was a mix of white rice and some type of dark-coloured grains. Unatama Don came with a big piece of unagi and tamago (egg) that were both excellent. The sashimi were all fresh. Okonomiyaki was disappointing but it was sort of expected... for only $9, it was about 99% just flour pan-fried in a patty, without any substantial fillings (unlike real okonomiyaki, which usually contains protein / seafood, cabbage, eggs, and other ingredients). Location is super convenient near Bay & Dundas, ambiance is very casual, and service is quick.

The fishes were plated very pretty and because it's sushi of course it tasted good. But I was surprised at the level of wasabi that was plated. Cleared up my sinuses for 30 seconds. The establishment is very clean and bright and a great place to head to if you're in a rush.

It felt comfortable, not too loud, and easy to settle into for a slow dinner. We ordered a mix of small plates to share, and everything came out looking nicely put together. The aburi-style salmon sushi was one of the highlights for me.. lightly seared, with a soft texture and just enough flavor on top without being overwhelming. The tuna tataki was also fresh and clean, simple but well done. Some of the fried dishes leaned a bit richer with the creamy sauces, but they were still enjoyable, especially if you're in the mood for something a little more indulgent. The beef fried rice was straightforward but satisfying, one of those dishes that's easy to keep going back to between everything else. Drinks were a nice touch too.. refreshing, nicely presented, and added to the overall experience. Overall, this feels like a solid spot for a casual night out with friends. The menu is set up to where you pick the entree and then what type of protein you want out of pork loin, chicken, fish, cheese, and sweet potato cheese. I settled on the sweet chili katsu. A piece of chicken arrived on a plate accompanied with rice and shredded cabbage. The chicken was breaded in a light panko like crumb and was half covered in the sweet chili sauce. I ate a couple of pieces and the crisp texture and flavor was wonderful. I had a bite of rice and when I got to the cabbage to my dismay I found a long piece of hair in it. I immediately lost my appetite and all I could think about was how great the two bites of chicken was. I gave up the plate and showed the staff what I found. They offered another plate a couple of times and after I declined a refund was issued. Katsuya. sucks for serving me one of the best pieces of breaded chicken in my life with hair in the food. I'm struggling to hold back the tears now as I write. I did get to try the parmesan fries which were ok. I also tasted the udon which is not one of their stronger dishes. This probably would have been five stars had it not been for the hair. I know this happens on the rare occasion but probably shouldn't if hair nets are worn.
