This is the best Chinese food in Chico by far! They offer a variety of fresh made Chinese dishes with no MSG! Always quick, always super friendly, they make for a great lunch with friends and even a great stop for a romantic night out. The seating allows for some privacy and theyve got a great fishtank for the kids to look at while you wait! Parking is never an issue and they have a wheelchair ramp located in front. They are great about making foods with less salt or no sugar added, or certain ingredients omitted, and even prepared my vegetarian friend her own bowl of wonton soup made with fresh veggie stock instead of the traditional chicken stock. Ive tried near everything on the menu, my favorites being the Honey Walnut Prawns and the Singapore Rice Noodles. Ive been a customer for years and have never been disappointed. Food was really bad. Chow mein was gummy and tasted bland. The lemon chicken was old tasting like it had been made the day before and microwaved. Food is always cold by pick up, even though I get there on time. I have a feeling that when its slow food is made in bulk and reheated as needed. Which isn't fresh. I like hot fresh food. If I wanted old leftovers microwaved I'd eat at home. I'm super disappointed. Even the spring rolls and crab puffs were just not impressive. I try out Gingers every 4 months because I give them another chance. I have had a few good experiences with fresh yummy food but so far it's nasty more times then not. Giving it one star is too much. Worst Chinese food ever! Appetizer was one limp fried shrimp and chicken in foil (tiny). Soup was tasteless. Lemon chicken tasted like batter and no lemon. Service? I used to love Gingers and frequented their restaurant as well as orders for delivery. I used to recommend them to everyone I knew. It is with a heavy heart that I am finally giving up on getting the quality of food that I remember from them. The last 5 times I have been in or delivered I was wildly underwhelmed by the food at best and downright disgusted at worst. I'm not sure what has changed but I won't be coming back again. Hands down best Chinese food in town. They purchase quality ingredients and offer fantastic vegetarian options. My boyfriend and I are crazy about their orange tofu and mushu vegetables. I am impressed with both the consistency of their dishes and the service I have received. I will continue to recommend Ginger's to others. I loved the chicken chow mein! It wasn't even the main item in my dish, but it was great. I usually don't like this dish because it's often very greasy. But this one wasn't and it had a great chew to it. The texture in the noodles was chewy and it had been sauteed with fresh garlic. I would come back just for more of the chow mein. The egg roll and crab cheese puff were OK, but nothing memorable. The pork fried rice was also pretty good. Again, not too greasy. It could have had a bit more pork though. The lemon chicken was OK too. It's not too sweet and there is definitely a lemon flavor in the sauce. It was my first time trying lemon chicken, but I think I'll stick with orange for next time. The venue itself is open and clean. I wonder if they get a lot of customers though. It seems to be kind of out of the area. Great place to stop by before or after a movie at Cinemark. This was dine in. I ordered the house chow mein. The menu specifies, shrimp, beef, chicken, & pork. The order was 97% noodles. There were only two 1 inch shrimp, three small bites of barbequed pork, three small bits of beef a the tiniest pieces of chicken that they fit between the tines of the fork. My wife got fried rice with her order. It was dry, hard to chew and far from real fried rice. I would have rated lower but the iced tea was good. read more

I had been coming here for over 22 years. tonight i put in an order for a family of 5 people to be delivered. I asked for 20 soy sauce packs which is only 4 packs for each person. they call me imminently and not in a good polite tone. and told me they will not give me 20 soy sauce packs. of course that set me on the defense. and I explained that i had been a customer forever and they had never treated me like this before and were always very happy to give me my condiments. the person on the other side of the phone said NO they will not do it and they wanted to charge me $1 for each one of these SMALL LITTLE SOY SAUCE packs. I told him that he is going to risk losing an order that is over $50 to dicker about a few soy sauce packs. he was very unpleasant and I ended up canceling my order and went to Happy Garden where the food is just as good and they were so very nice and gave us what we needed for each person. read more
