    Beef Noodle Soup
    Chris M.

Food was not bad for the price. Service was good. Ambiance was good. Food was not bad. Prices were average. 3 stars. Beef noodle soup was ok. Broth was average. Very little beef. It's an average bowl of noodles. 3 stars wonton soup. It's just wontons and broth. The wontons were good, but there's no veggies or anything else with it. Overall not bad, but very average.

I wanted to go for Asian food tonight with my girlfriend and her choice was the Fortune Dumpling House. The food was great. First time trying dim sum in Chico and I was not disappointed. Garlic green beans had a lot of flavor to them. Each dumplings had a great texture and unique flavor to each of them (my girlfriend and I had the pork soup dumplings, barbecue pork buns, and sho mai). Service was also great. Servers are nice. Ambiance is chill, as it was relatively quiet on the Tuesday night we decided to go. Overall would recommend giving this place a try

Hmmm .. I've been wanting to try this place for a while now because of the soup dumplings and hot pot.. and we've been told by so many people that this place was: "soo good, you have to try it"... but after careful consideration, I think this place is just : meh. It's just okay. The soup dumplings: 6.5/10.. when they brought it out, we left it on the table for couple minutes before trying it and the soup on the inside wasn't hot, but the flavor was there. ($~16 for 6 pieces) Beef hot pot: 4/10 .. you have an option to pick your level of spicy (I choose extra spicy) , the type of broth (I asked for the spicy broth, but when I got the receipt, they gave me the Japanese style broth), and the type of noodles (I choose the yam). For $25 , definitely not worth it. There was no flavor, no spicy and it doesn't come with a side of rice (which it should because for $25?!). They did give a lot of beef, which is a plus.. but it lacked a lot of flavor. Hawaiian bbq: 4/10 ... they gave very little portions of meat (1 piece of rib, couple pieces of chicken and couple slices of beef) and the macaroni salad... lacked flavor. (~$16) The server was nice.. somewhat attentive but overall she did great. When you walk in, the restaurant gave you like a SF Chinatown vibe, which was very cute. They have lanterns hanging, a big island in the middle and smaller tables surrounding the restaurant. It s pretty spacious. They also have a karaoke set up, so I'm sure anyone can go and sing if you wanted to. They also have a huge glass window where you can watch them making fresh dumplings. Overall - it was meh.. we left pretty disappointed but both agreed the soup dumpling was the best out of the three. if we go back, we'd probably focus more on the dumplings / dimsum because that's the only item that had flavor. They also have beef noodles etc, which looks good in the pictures, but reading through the reviews on Yelp, couple people have expressed there is a lack of flavor as well. Total came out to ~$60 for 3 items +$10 tip, so overall $70, so it's pricy. Which sucks because this is the one thing I've noticed about moving to Chico, when these special "niche" restaurants open, they hike up the price of their food for mediocre flavor... and people will pay because these places are "rare" to see in such a small town. These restaurants take advantage of that and mark everything up and make it 5X more expensive than it should be.. ~$16 for 6 pieces on soup dumpling (~$4 per piece)... ~$16 for couple pieces of Hawaiian bbq meat ... $25 for hot pot.. yea... not worth it. Would only recommend to go to check it out and see the inside, I think that's was the best experience, the design/ decoration.

I hate to leave bad reviews but this place was so disappointing, my husband and I couldn't stop talking about it all night. We tried several items that were already pretty pricey, but hey, we were super excited to try this place for a few months now! First off, we visited at 5:30 on a Saturday night and they were already out of three dishes and two drinks. We ended up trying the Thai milk tea, the spicy crispy chicken, the beef dumplings, the bbq pork buns, the wontons in hot chili oil, and the chicken salad. The chicken and salad were big portions but we spent about $100 total. The only thing that we thought were okay were the bbq pork buns, but they could have used more filling. My husband ate a few of the spicy chili wontons and the crispy chicken, but I personally thought the chicken tasted bad. Old oil maybe? The salad and the beef dumplings were really bad. The dressing in the salad was unexpected and just not good. The beef dumplings were bland and also tasted old. Can't recommend this place to anyone.

Delicious food and sauces, looks great inside/nice ambiance, and excellent customer service. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable, you can see the staff making the food in the front, and there's a lot of seating! Bar, table or booth. Looking forward to coming back.

Food was great! We got the dim sum - shrimp dumplings, siu mai, sesame balls, egg tarts, pork and leek dumplings. It all tasted very nice, fresh, and home made! Crystal the waitress was also super friendly and we had a very pleasant lunch! Happy to have this option in Chico! Nice interior decorations too.

What an amazing dinner! Service was fast and polite, the food came out steaming, and everything was delicious!

Wow wow wow! Dinner was amazing! Literally everything came out steaming! Our waitress was also so polite and friendly! And we thought we would only be able to fit a little bit in our stomach but it was so good, we came out of there rolling!

Went here on a weekday and they still have the soft opening sign up which is fine. They have decorated the place really well and it doesn't look like panighettis anymore. Never had dim sum with Hawaiian before but mostly stuck to dim sum. Got the green onion pancakes which were thin, crispy and good. The pork soup dumplings help up nicely and had a good amount of soup. I appreciated that they weren't screaming burn your face off hot. Also got the shrimp dumplings which tasted pretty fresh and yummy. My kid got the burger and they surprisingly had beer batter fries that were really good! So plus on that. The server was super friendly and nice. Very attentive and patient but we were one of two tables at the end of the night. All in all this is a great addition to Chico as we are lacking decent Chinese food and dim sum. Not the best I've had but good for Chico. Next time will come back and try some Hawaiian bbq and compare to Halo, which I hold in high regard so the bar is set.

We enjoy eating at the fortune dumpling House. The staff is great and the food is awesome. Give it a try .

My crew and I really enjoy the fortune dumpling House. I bring a dozen young people in and they serve us quickly. The food is very good . We try there dumplings and noodles plus lots of other dishes. They have great service and really delicious food. There prices are below most restaurants in town for the amount of food we order. My bills usually average 10.00 dollars a meal or less. This helps a lot when you are feeding young people. Pioneer engineering and construction gives fortune dumpling House 10 stars . Ohh there's tons of space also .

The food was great, the ambience was great too. And the food, outstanding. It comes out fresh and hot and the aroma is just mouth-drooling. I'd reccommend the wonton with chili oil and the soup dumplings.

Omg! The seaweed and noodle knots in the soup!

The place is clean and everybody was friendly. The food is on a cafeteria type line, you just pick out what you want, and then they serve it to you and you take it to your table. I can't speak to the main dishes, themselves, as I just came in for a Boba tea. I did see that they also had wontons on the line, so I also did an order of wontons as a snack. The wontons were wonderfully crispy, and not greasy at all, and they were very generous with the portion. I liked the sweet-and-sour sauce, it was sweet and just a little bit tangy. I had the Matcha milk tea, it was creamy and had a wonderful flavor. It's hard to describe the flavor of Matcha, but I do like it. It was a bit sweet, and just a bit savory. They asked me if I wanted the Boba pearls, which I did because I like them a lot, and they were very generous with them. A milk tea and an order of wontons was only nine bucks. Extremely reasonable. Thank you for a nice stop.

It was 100 outside and just humidity and hot inside as well. Very uncomfortable. -Ordered 2 boba milk teas. It was like drinking watered down milk with a slightly toxic weird flavor. It did not taste good. -Ordered 2 shrimp fried rice bowls. The rice was old and seemed like it'd been reheated. (My husband is Filipino. I know what fresh rice and fried rice tastes and looks like. This was NOT) The shrimp had been boiled. Not fried. -Also ordered a thing of the crab wontons. They were very rubbery and stale. Overall it was very disappointing. Will not be eating there on our way back home. Side note: I probably would have gotten a combo but all the food on their food line was dried out and looked like it had been sitting all day. I threw out what I had left. Which from the pic I didn't even eat half.

Watching the cooks hard at work and mastery of Mongolian bbq was like a well-oiled machine. Watching the cooks and seeing staff continuously refill the food, toppings, and sauce containers for customers, while also putting out more bowls and trays, was like watching a flawless production! As for our food, the price of lunch is bang for buck because of how much you can fill your Mongolian BBQ bowl and the soup, rice, and addicting wonton chips with sweet and sour dipping sauce that come with your lunch meal. I gave 4 stars because the garlic and potato soup was super salty. My friends and I agreed this soup would have been perfect if it didn't taste like salt was poured into it. In addition, watching the cross contamination of some diners touching the raw meat in their bowls then touching the next tongs, like for the veggies, was a big health risk concern for me. With this, I keep in mind that I don't even know if this can be prevented due to the way Mongolian BBQ works with customers serving themselves, like a buffet. I understand it would be hard to control and prevent the cross contamination from touching the meat, especially as customers try to make room in their big bowl. In the end, the number of people dining, then seeing more people entering, shows how popular Hula's is!
