Another satisfying experience I forgot to take picture of the raw food, but you know I got those first to get cooked. I got curry chicken and lemongrass pork to get cooked I realized I just like all the fried food lol Nothing diff, just go back to my first review There was soft serv ice cream machine Came on tuesday 6pm Dessert area was deserted. Still a few but not much Lots more people Drinks do cost extra, besides water I still love this place, higher quality than average food, buffet and so cheap 18.88$ 5/5

TLDR: Never get the crawfish Okay, let me just preface this by saying that everything else was either okay or good. Now, I feel very bad for the father and his kid that got the crawfish boil right before me. I was really skeptical when I saw they had "cajun crawfish" at a Chinese restaurant... so I passed originally. After having their whole fried shrimp, I figured I'd give it a try before we left. At first, it was fine. Not great, not really bad. I've had cajun crawfish in Louisiana a few times when visiting my parents so my expectations were very low for this Chinese restaurant in Chico, CA to begin with. Then we left and I started the 48 minute drive back to my girlfriend's house in Magalia. Right after we started, I felt a worsening nausea. I also started to get a strong taste of dirty swamp water in my mouth that remained for the rest of the drive. Thank god the nausea and taste subsided by the time we got home. I wanted to just pull over and vomit so badly. I tried drinking a pretty strong Dutch Bros tea from earlier multiple times to try and get rid of the taste.. to no avail. When I got home my stomach was messed up. I'm not sure if she was really quiet or something, but I didn't hear the hostess say anything before she started just walking off towards our table. I just assumed we were getting seated because she looked at us after getting to the little podium and started walking away. Other than that, the service was good. Whenever our water got low, it was filled by a passing waiter before it got empty. The lady at the register was kind and activated the electric toothpick dispenser when she noticed it wasn't working for me. The ambiance is kinda cool. Not super over the top, sort of a slightly laid-back traditional Chinese decoration. Not filled to the brim with decoration like some Chinese restaurants. Feels like a warm little hometown restaurant.

Nicer taste than anticipated.

Okey I give in, fair is fair, Kwando Buffet may lack several things but freshness, amount, variety, value, service etc, are not part of it. On weekends it even offers duck meat, which most of the times is prepared nicely ant that for some this offering is a definite plus, and no, I'm not talking about those people that have ducks as pets, or resent the idea of having duck meat for dinner, but chicken or turkey is just fine. Food moves, crowds consume it and is an endless cycle till closing time. Seniors partake of a discount, and everyone leaves full. 4.1 Stars.

It's been a few years but do they allow chong's now with the recent change in california law?

I went in a while ago and I was asked not to Chong inside. Wish they would comply with the new law!

Are they all you can eat?

Yes there is unlimited chongs!

Kwando's ambiance is similar to China Buffet: A koi pond at the entrance and a hostess who'll seat you and take down your drink orders.

You can tell he genuinely cares about customers having a great time, and his energy really stood out. Our waiter also knew the menu really well, which made everything easy. They gave awesome recommendations and helped us try a few new things we ended up loving. Can't recommend this spot enough- great food, service, and all-around experience for great sushi!

We kicked things off with a bowl of perfectly salted edamame, the kind that makes you keep saying, "Just one more," until suddenly the bowl is empty. It pairs well with their branded hot sauce. Then came the sushi feast, and wow! Fresh, colorful, and plated like edible art. The rolls were as delicious as they were beautiful (the kind that makes you pause mid-bite just to appreciate the moment). My daughters rolls we awesome, she let me try them,, and let me tell you, the balance of flavors - from creamy avocado to fresh tuna and crunchy tempura - was spot on. They are famous for their Poké bowl, but we only did sushi this time (my willpower deserves recognition).. The edamame was excellent and their miso soup is still one of my favorites anywhere. It just tastes different... richer and more intentional than the usual versions. I'm a huge saba fan and theirs was exactly why I keep coming back... clean, fresh and done right. My kid had the tataki and it was the same story there, super fresh and gone in about thirty seconds. We also had the Gilroy (yum) Japanese Cowboy, Red Dragon, Hibachi Sunset and Lotus Cobra. The Lotus Cobra is one of those rolls you order once and then it just becomes part of your future. The ambiance is probably my favorite in Chico. It's one of those places where you can have a great meal and some top tier people watching at the same time. Service is always solid, friendly without being fake, and everything from the dining area to the bathrooms is consistently clean. I'll just say it... I wish we had a place like this back on the Mendocino Coast. Until then, this is always going to be my Chico sushi stop. If you like fresh fish, good energy and a place that just feels dialed in, Rawbar is hard to beat.

I've been craving the oyster hot shots and Shaka tuna for yeeeears. I've even tried recreating those hot shots at home more times than I'd like to admit, and I still can't crack whatever magic they're doing back there. Now onto the new stuff. We ordered the special dry-aged nigiri sampler, and my mom couldn't stop talking about how much it reminded her of the way fish and sushi are treated in Japan. Thoughtful, balanced, and intentional. It was such a refreshing break from the AYCE-style spots where the fish-to-rice ratios can feel quite careless. Almost forgot! Our server was amazing. Gah I forgot his name. So professional and knowledgeable about everrrrrything. We were super comfortable in the new lounge area, which I would say is much cozier and dare I say sexier than the old motif which was kinda industrial. If they ever open a location in Los Angeles (hint, hint), I'd be first in line.
