Another satisfying experience I forgot to take picture of the raw food, but you know I got those first to get cooked. I got curry chicken and lemongrass pork to get cooked I realized I just like all the fried food lol Nothing diff, just go back to my first review There was soft serv ice cream machine Came on tuesday 6pm Dessert area was deserted. Still a few but not much Lots more people Drinks do cost extra, besides water I still love this place, higher quality than average food, buffet and so cheap 18.88$ 5/5

TLDR: Never get the crawfish Okay, let me just preface this by saying that everything else was either okay or good. Now, I feel very bad for the father and his kid that got the crawfish boil right before me. I was really skeptical when I saw they had "cajun crawfish" at a Chinese restaurant... so I passed originally. After having their whole fried shrimp, I figured I'd give it a try before we left. At first, it was fine. Not great, not really bad. I've had cajun crawfish in Louisiana a few times when visiting my parents so my expectations were very low for this Chinese restaurant in Chico, CA to begin with. Then we left and I started the 48 minute drive back to my girlfriend's house in Magalia. Right after we started, I felt a worsening nausea. I also started to get a strong taste of dirty swamp water in my mouth that remained for the rest of the drive. Thank god the nausea and taste subsided by the time we got home. I wanted to just pull over and vomit so badly. I tried drinking a pretty strong Dutch Bros tea from earlier multiple times to try and get rid of the taste.. to no avail. When I got home my stomach was messed up. I'm not sure if she was really quiet or something, but I didn't hear the hostess say anything before she started just walking off towards our table. I just assumed we were getting seated because she looked at us after getting to the little podium and started walking away. Other than that, the service was good. Whenever our water got low, it was filled by a passing waiter before it got empty. The lady at the register was kind and activated the electric toothpick dispenser when she noticed it wasn't working for me. The ambiance is kinda cool. Not super over the top, sort of a slightly laid-back traditional Chinese decoration. Not filled to the brim with decoration like some Chinese restaurants. Feels like a warm little hometown restaurant.

    Nicer taste than anticipated.

Okey I give in, fair is fair, Kwando Buffet may lack several things but freshness, amount, variety, value, service etc, are not part of it. On weekends it even offers duck meat, which most of the times is prepared nicely ant that for some this offering is a definite plus, and no, I'm not talking about those people that have ducks as pets, or resent the idea of having duck meat for dinner, but chicken or turkey is just fine. Food moves, crowds consume it and is an endless cycle till closing time. Seniors partake of a discount, and everyone leaves full. 4.1 Stars.

It's been a few years but do they allow chong's now with the recent change in california law?

I went in a while ago and I was asked not to Chong inside. Wish they would comply with the new law!

Are they all you can eat?

    Yes there is unlimited chongs!

Fish was very fresh and tasty. Finally, finished up with California roll. Very nice, but more crab, less cream cheese. We also shared a bottle of wine and very reasonably priced for both wine and all of the food. We will be back to taste more and yes they have wine, beer and sake.

Our favs have been the Japanese Tacos, Gyoza, Sushi Sampler Plate and any number of rolls. The side salad with the Wasabi dressing has always been and is still delicious! Every place can have an off day or item but the last two visits leave us looking for other options. The sauce for the Japanese Tacos has become so spicy hot we've had to have them hold it - something's changed there. The gyoza (2 orders for one person and one order for the second person were all served on the same plate, forgivable but they were bland and the sauces were spilled when the waitress set them down. The Sushi sampler contained "room temp", not cold raw fish and was literally flavorless AND the rice tasted old and chalky. I tried the spicy tuna roll the month before and I could not eat it. It was flavorless and warm. Our last visit's service was very poor. Had to ask more than once for the basic wasabi and ginger. Then we had to ask for our beverages again halfway through our meal. Used to be awesome but this is two poor experiences in a row. I've been enjoying Japanese cuisine throughout California my entire life and this just wasn't worth it. The place is also loud and rushed.

We kicked things off with a bowl of perfectly salted edamame, the kind that makes you keep saying, "Just one more," until suddenly the bowl is empty. It pairs well with their branded hot sauce. Then came the sushi feast, and wow! Fresh, colorful, and plated like edible art. Tonight though, the food was next level. To set the scene, the line was out the door when I arrived, but they were flying through customers. My husband got the chicken combo plate, and he has a full meals worth of food left over for tomorrow, which is thankfully typical here. In this economy?? Yes please. The katsu was so juicy and crunchy, the bbq chicken was equally tender with a good char in places. I got a poke bowl, and I swear to god in heaven the girl who made this bowl was placed on this earth to bless my dinner tonight. I need also to go back and get her skin care routine. They are famous for their Poké bowl, but we only did sushi this time (my willpower deserves recognition).. The edamame was excellent and their miso soup is still one of my favorites anywhere. It just tastes different... richer and more intentional than the usual versions. I'm a huge saba fan and theirs was exactly why I keep coming back... clean, fresh and done right. My kid had the tataki and it was the same story there, super fresh and gone in about thirty seconds. We also had the Gilroy (yum) Japanese Cowboy, Red Dragon, Hibachi Sunset and Lotus Cobra. The Lotus Cobra is one of those rolls you order once and then it just becomes part of your future. The ambiance is probably my favorite in Chico. We ordered the special dry-aged nigiri sampler, and my mom couldn't stop talking about how much it reminded her of the way fish and sushi are treated in Japan. Thoughtful, balanced, and intentional. It was such a refreshing break from the AYCE-style spots where the fish-to-rice ratios can feel quite careless. Almost forgot! Our server was amazing. Gah I forgot his name. So professional and knowledgeable about everrrrrything. We were super comfortable in the new lounge area, which I would say is much cozier and dare I say sexier than the old motif which was kinda industrial. If they ever open a location in Los Angeles (hint, hint), I'd be first in line.
