Visited September 9 2026 in Chico. They are located right next door to In and Out Burger. I came in assuming it was a buffet style but it is not. I was very confused by that! It's all you can eat suishi not buffet! The nice lady said you order some things off the menu. Although menu looked good ( a bit pricey) I decided it was not for me. I don't understand how this place isn't packed every night! The food was sooo amazing, group of six and everyone loved their food. From the friendly welcome, to the waitstaff being so kind and attentive and the prices are in line with other restaurants but the food quality tipped this over the top. I have a thing about cleanliness and this place is clean. The windows sparkled. I hate a dingy dirty window, makes me wonder about the kitchen. No worries here. Normally when I visit my hometown I go to big tuna but my friend wanted to try this place. We were not disappointed! $23 for all you can eat at lunch lets go. I found the quality of sushi to be surprisingly good! The salmon was so buttery and gave big pieces. The rolls were tight and well sized. Definitely will want to come back. The art work was great in the restaurant and t felt very open inside even though they were quite busy. The only downside was that they lost a couple of our orders and it takes time for food to come out which is understandable. Highly recommend ordering 4-6 things to begin with. read more

"All You Can Eat" sushi places are hit and miss -- usually a miss. very happy to say that Sake is a HIT! for the reasonable adult price of $24.99, you get to order off a pretty elaborate menu, as much as you want! and nothing is pre-made, it's all done fresh upon ordering. the gyoza, fried wontons and lemon pepper wings were good starter apps... we followed those up with some rolls and yellow tail nigiri, and closed things out with some chicken chow mein; my brother and I were both surprised -- the flavor and quality exceeded our expectations! we each ate about $75 worth of sushi: that's what we estimate it would have cost at any other mid-level to above-average japanese restaurant. what can I say? my brother and I are both Big Dudes who can eat our own body weight in sushi... we walked in skeptical and left as true believers who will be back at Sake very soon. such a great deal! namaste read more

Sake has great value for the price, unlike other buffet type places sushi requires there to be some freshness to the meal prep which is a big boon in this instance. I didn't expect much when I ordered the sashimi, but the salmon sashimi was surprisingly fresh and delicious. So if you enjoy sashimi you know how expensive it can be to get even average cuts, so you can definitely get good value out of the buffet price from just the sashimi. The ambiance is pretty laid back, it doesn't feel cluttered or too loud and it's excellent to come as a group and eat and talk. The service was average, I had some trouble getting someone to get my order after the initial round of orders, which I don't hold against the establishment since I realize it's a buffet and it's part of the "game" you have to play. You're trying to get the most out of your 36 dollars and they're trying to maximize profits, so it's not a big deal if they're not rude about it, which they aren't. If u go to a sushi buffet and dont mostly order nigiris or sashimis, what are you doing. Seared nigiri- Usually I like whatever ingredients they add to my nigiri but this was not it. Chili powder really? Tasted like eating takis every time I took a bite, was not looking for chips when ordering nigiri. And as usual, barely gives you any rice, but its fine cause I can just ask for extra rice and no chili powder (which is what I got later). Also what happened to my tuna, theres like 0 sear on any of the 10 of them. Special rolls- the chico and sake roll I ordered were good, one of them (idk which) had lemon peel on it so I just chuck those away. Which also meant chucking away half the sauce lol. It was good, I prefer nigiris more still Overall the quality is lower than other restaurants, even though they look nice but you can just taste it, not putrid or bad, but lower in quality. Sashimi- my friend ate this one and she said it was lower quality also. Imo, they're huge and pretty still. Ice cream- was good as usual, in a cup but is good. Extra Wasabi definitely worse quality, it looks like play doh. Thas it, just an update since I reviewed this place before Ive noticed I gave one star higher than my last reviews, its prob cause I ate mostly nigiris this time which is my favorite type of sushi. We did the lunch all you can eat for $22.99, which is offered Monday-Friday. It was 10/10 for polite and kind staff, great prices, food quality and quantity, and cleanliness. We expected them to be working out kinks since this was their 2nd day open; they did fantastic. Went at 11:15 to avoid the rush. We got the dynamite, avatar, bake, sakura and forest roll. Favorites were the dynamite and forest. The nigiri is great too. 1 piece and delicious. Yellowtail, seared tuna and inari (imitation crab + seaweed, wrapped in a sweet bean pocket). We were happy with everything we ordered. Can't wait to go back and try more dishes! Tonight we tried Sake for dinner and we're surprised again, although getting into their lot is something of a nightmare once we got through the in and out traffic jam we were seated promptly and they took our first order and filled it with perfectly executed flavorful food. The gyoza was a dream. The tempura and takoyaki were crisp and light no heavy greasy food in sight. We ordered an assortment of rolls and were loving everyone but the last one the playboy did not meet the standards he sets for good sushi. The pepper tuna he said was grainy and just didn't have a great mouth feel And yet even with that dinner was pleasant, the restaurant was so quiet it was enjoyable to just relax and take time to enjoy a meal. read more

The service is great! It's fast, staffs are polite and warm. They're make sure empty plates are out of our table. And attentively coming back to us if we want to order more. The foods are great as well! I must say this is not your normal sushi buffet. This one, you have to order from their menu, and then once you finish that meal, then you can order again, and again and again.... The price is 22.99 per person but that includes all you can eat from appetizer, soups , salads and entrees plus deserts!!! Where can you find that price for those many foods with the inflation right now lol. And all the sushi that we tried are really fresh. The place is huge, clean, restrooms are clean. Super excited for this AYCE sushi place.! The sushi always came out really fast and fresh. Depending on the time you come you will either pay Lunch price or the Dinner price with a 90min time limit... which is pretty normal for establishments like this. The servers are very attentive, quick, and great with helping. They're more than happy to take your order, making sure you get all the rolls you want... anddd at the end you can get ice cream! One thing I didn't like was the sauce that is drizzled on top of the nigiri. When I first ordered it, I didn't know they did that.. but the more I kept ordering and the more I kept forgetting to omit that from the order... so that's my fault. I'm sure you can tell them you don't want the sauce on it. However, if you do go, definitely get the fried chicken from the appetizer section.. it's surprisingly really good and very crispy! Each time we go, that is one of our go-tos. It's nice and clean inside, quiet and does have cool decor. Overall, highly recommend going. We were pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed our visit here! We did all you can eat (not sure if there is any other option haha) and they had a great menu to choose from. A bunch of appetizers, some plates other than sushi, and a great list of rolls. We got a kani salad, egg rolls, and several rolls. We enjoyed everything! Overall a good experience. The parking lot is nice and large, only issue is when idiots don't leave space while waiting in the "In N Out" line. I don't have any issues with the building overall. If you went to iHop a lot it might bother you as I've heard others complain about it but it isn't something I really notice or care about. Plenty of space inside the building, but the booths are tight for bigger folks. The music isn't really noticeable or loud which I personally think is a good thing. I'm not sure how much I like the art on the walls, it's not bad but it just screams AI and bought from temo or some random online store. Again not a big issue. Lighting is also good. So atmosphere for me was enjoyable. Service, we've been four times now and every time we have been taken to our seat quickly and able to order quickly. Overall wait time for food has been pretty solid. They've also gotten better at drink refills which had lacked our first visit. The owner came and talked to us for awhile I believe our first visit. Seems like a nice dude but it was kinda funny having him toss "the other place" under the bus. Which don't get me wrong Kwandos is total trash compared to Sake so he isn't really wrong. But he talked a lot about how they're fresh and that's why it can be slower ect. Which is fine. But also I wanted to enjoy my meal The food is why we're here, and it's totally worth the $35 dinner or $22 lunch price. We've only been to lunch one time but it was still enjoyable even tho the menu is smaller. It doesn't have the sashimi on it which is a bummer but does make sense to leave stuff off to charge for dinner instead. Edamame has been enjoyable every time. Slightly smaller amount than if you order at regular sit down places but you can order more so that's not an issue. I did feel the first time or two that it had stayed in the steamer or water too long and the overall pod was too tender. But the last two times they've been perfect. The kid enjoyed the chicken teriyaki, pot stickers and egg rolls. Which for $12 it felt like she got her moneys worth for sure. We've enjoyed the sashimi, I'm spacing on the mango one but it was pretty fantastic. The pepper tuna I think it was was also enjoyable. Not the greatest cuts but the fish tasted great with no smell or any negative signs outside of the cut. Rolls are solid some do seem to have a bit too much sauce for me at times but that's not a deal breaker. The last two times the rice ratio has also been a lot better. Biggest issue might be too much krab. But they have plenty of other rolls without too. The Sake, Chico and Skyway rolls all are pretty delicious and I'm spacing on others we liked. The Avatar was good but was one I do wish had less sauce on it. Now our biggest issue has been getting the check. Every time we've had to wait for our ticket to check out. That's been a bit annoying. The men's restroom didn't seem to have any AC in it on 7/5/24 but Chico was HOT too, so maybe they just had a faulty unit over that side? The dessert seemed to be skippable, we've not had any of it just yet. But saw the ice cream is those old school plastic mini tubes with the wood spoons. Which that's a pass for me. I've rambled enough the place is worth it if you enjoy sushi. $35 at most sit down sushi places would be 2-4 rolls? Yes they probably have better quality overall but for the price of all you can eat this quality is decent and worth a visit. read more

Had the worse experience today! My group of 4 sat at a table for 1 hour and was served two rolls of sushi when we each ordered 4. The waiter came by once to check on my table. Within the 1 hour that I sat there, I watched the waters tend to other customers who came in 30 minutes after us and they go their food before we did. Highly disappointed at the service we had. It definitely was not "All you can eat" for the price. It more of I'll make you wait till you go home. My adult son had the all you can eat and my husband and I each got the 4 rolls for $20.99. ours were plain but good. my son's looked amazing, as he was not ordering from the limited choices we had. The restroom had a toilet that leaked from the bottom. it was a mess with toilet paper stuck to it. When we paid, our total was more than expected. I asked why, and the cashier said it was because I did not pay cash. They charged some type of service fee for using a card! it is not stated on the menu or anywhere that you might see it before ordering. I'm fairly sure it is illegal to not have it listed someplace in the menu. When I said that we had not expected that, and it is uncool, the cashier laughed. We won't go back. Had she said " sorry, we should have explained that" or something besides laughing, we might consider returning, but the fee and her laughter are inappropriate and offensive. read more

When they "checked" with the chef it was conveniently ready to go and the fish wasn't fresh, making us think it was sitting there this whole time. The overall service was awful and not welcoming at all. The manager was not nice or accommodating when we kindly voiced our concerns either. They tried to charge us for things we didn't order and didn't comp anything for the time we spent waiting for our food to come out. Unacceptable, not enjoyable. Food and service was amazing. Ambience is also nice. We arrived at 8 PM on Wednesday . Server told us that there will be about 20 minutes wait. And it took 20 minutes to get the table. There were tables available but, they were making people wait in the lobby, maybe because of food serving time. I think waiting time might be the issue on weekends. After placing the order, we got our food within 5 minutes. We loved all of their sushi rolls. We will visit again for sure. read more

For being in Chico, it's not bad. The fish wasn't the freshest however and the rolls were just okay. We went for the first day soft opening. It started getting a lot busier as we were leaving. Service was attentive and they cleared plates quickly. Most hot food and apps came out very fast. Rolls took a while longer. The staff was still working out some kinks as some of the food was put in incorrectly. All forgivable for a new all you can eat sushi place in chico. Restaurant was clean and everything was very new. So hygiene wasn't an issue. They were fast on the water refills as well. All in all a slightly above average experience. Would give 3.5 stars if I could. read more
