Truthfully everyone has a right to their own feelings and experiences at this place, but my group had a wonderful experience. It's a newer concept/idea of a restaurant in Chico and I don't understand why people are getting frustrated about the layout because it "still looks like iHop" because it doesn't. They aimed to make it still feel homey and inviting for everyone from all walks of life and they are super accommodating. You do have one server who takes your orders, but all of them do their very best to help each other out or if you have questions about the menu or anything. I went with a group of 3 of my girlfriends and ordering was pretty easy going and lax. Yes there is time between waiting for your food and ordering the next round, but the all you can eat is not there so you can win some type of award for being the most gluttonous. They do very well at paying attention to when your table is ready for another round, even if it is another server alerting your server. Also the food was very good! We tasted a lot of the specialty rolls, sashimi, and nigiri and it all came gorgeously presented, tasted good, and it was easy to share different rolls to taste since we all did the all you can eat. As long as you are finishing your food they will serve you again. No need to rush it. Overall a great experience at this place with their all you can eat menu and they also have an a la carte menu if you prefer not to do the all you can eat! I've been waiting a few months already since I heard this new AYCE sushi restaurant was opening at the old IHOP. The concept is really similar to another restaurant I've been in at the Bay Area in which you do get unlimited sushi for $36 in dinner or on weekends, and $23 for lunch on weekdays with a smaller menu until 3:30PM, but you must order and eat everything within 90 minutes, and I would recommend ordering your favorites right away as it will usually take some time depending on how busy the places to get your food, or it could be relatively fast. Best time would be when they open at 11 AM to avoid too much of a rush as it was a full parking lot by a time I left. I started out with some miso soup and Takoyaki, which were very tasty appetizers. Feeling famished because I didn't eat any breakfast. I ordered about three specialty rolls and 4-5 Nigri sushi as well as two hand rolls. I really enjoyed the yellowtail maki and the Dynamite Roll, but I was also surprised at how good the Hot Mama Roll and Red Snapper Nigiri tasted. I also enjoyed the seared salmon Nigri as well, but there was a little bit too much chili oil sauce on the bottom of the dish for my taste, but it was still good. The staff were very kind and helpful, quickly refilling my drink, as well as clearing the table of the discarded dishes very expeditiously. Just remember that when it starts to get very busy they will have to serve other customers as well, so it may take a little bit of time to get your order but that is part of the process. Overall everything was delicious and the restaurant feels new, clean, and swanky after the interior redesign. I whole heartedly recommend this as I am glad that this place exists in Chico as we need more of these types of businesses around in a location that has gone saturated with too much of the same thing over and over (looking at you new Panda Express near Lowe's). Came from Mt Shasta / Lake Caverns area, decided to get some sushi for lunch. We initially wanted to go somewhere close but all the places closed early. As we drove back home, this spot popped up in yelp and did not close in the afternoon. Ended up here for a late lunch but still open. The service was great. They were quick to get our orders and follow up if we needed more. The place looks big and was not busy at the time we came. It's clean and comfortable. I like their choices., been there 4 times now and one of those times during lunch... i would say it's nice when you go with a group of people that like to eat minimum 3 plus rolls so that you get a variety and try more of the choices. I've gone with some and wife they normally order ala carte and they have always put my rolls on her plate and hers on mine so they do need to pay more attention to that... but they have never made an issue about it either : so just pay more attention to those simple things... over all I do like it; hoping for some future additions/rolls to the menu read more

Horrible service!! Was there for 40 minutes and was asked if we wanted to order more. While we were ordering, the jerk of a waiter (who just clocked in) walked away in the middle of my fiancé ordering completely cutting him off. After we get the roll the same waiter gave us our check and said thank you for coming. We were being pushed out it felt like even though there were not anywhere near closing or packed. Long rolls are pretty good. Appetizers are incredible. Nigiri is mehhh they add weird smoke flavor to some of the nigiri. Restaurant is always clean. But has really strange inappropriate anime photos everywhere, not a family friendly atmosphere. Service is 0/10 get ready to sit there for 2 hours and not get everything you ordered. They don't bring you the food you ordered and when you let them know they don't even listen. They don't come to take your order, then you finally do get to order and half of your items come 40 minutes later, and they don't even know what it is. absolutely laughable. Would not suggest this place for sushi lovers but for AYCE it's decent with a great price. read more

Sushi and apps are all made fresh-to-order. It's never just sitting around for people to grab so it's way more sanitary, and of course fresh always tastes better. Had no issues whatsoever with upset stomach or bloating or anything weird. Lunch is $22/person and dinner is $34 I think. So worth it! Chill environment too. I have mixed emotions about this place, but at the end of it all, I won't be returning. To get it out of the way, the place still looks like an IHOP from the interior. While they advertise this as an AYCE, their operation strategy is interesting to say the least. Their menu states that any leftover food including sushi rice they will charge you the a la carte price; however there are no price listings for their menu items except for the per person by age category, and their beverages. The service is friendly. The wait staff are definitely friendly, but there was a concern for me regarding some not knowing the menu. I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt considering they're pretty new, but I had one server come up to my table, and when I said the name of the roll he asked what number it was on the menu, and then when I proceeded to order another roll by it's number, I was asked what was the name of the roll. The table behind me also had a similar experience from what I overheard. I find it a red flag that some personnel don't know what they're serving? Now the wait time, that's where it gets you. I've learned that once you've been delivered your food and have finished, there is a slight wait to get anyone's attention, thus making you full as time goes by. So yes it is an AYCE, but the question is if it is going to be possible. So even if you had the strategy of ordering one roll at a time or three rolls in one order, by the time you're going to want to order more, you're full. I will give it to them, sneaky operation but smart from their stand point. Now unfortunately the main reason why I'm giving this such a poor review is because of how my cousin got sick, and ended up throwing up in their bathroom. He told me after the spider roll he had, he instantly felt off. I know this man, he EATS, but he tapped out after that. I was concerned about the lettuce that was in the spider roll, and wonder if it was washed. I was also kind of put off by why my spicy tuna roll had crunchy bits of either panko or tempura batter, but it was weird for a maki roll. As for my golden California roll which is essentially a Cali roll but deep fried, but it had a gritty almost undercooked yet overcooked texture from the rice. Mind you I've had deep fried rolls to start and it was great, but come round two... Yeah no. I won't tell you to not try it, but at your own discretion. In my opinion, Big Tuna is elite. Good sushi and you can't beat the price. Is it the fanciest place in Chico? No. But the food is good, and for about $45 two people can have lunch to their fill. I gave it 5 stars because it's exactly what it advertises and it's tasty. My husband and I can eat a lot of sushi and we were easily filled well before the 90 min limit. The staff is very friendly and attentive, the building is clean, and some of the rolls are pretty inventive. I think we ate about 6 rolls plus a good number of sushi plates (maybe 6-8?) and 2 spicy tuna hand rolls. The charge for rice is standard at AYCE places, and they aren't nit-picking a few grains on the plate. They're trying to prevent people ordering sushi when what they want is sashimi. You can order one or two rolls at a time (especially if you're there when it's not busy!) and have a steady stream of food coming. I love that they have cheaper prices for kids, it's honestly a great deal even if your kids only order nuggets and fries. I'll definitely be back. read more

Still the best every time I go since their opening. Went during lunch one time and it was a bit slow, but I guess it's ok. Dinner time, they are much quicker now compared to before. I was really excited to go try this place out, my fam and I love sushi. But honestly Raley's has better sushi. Also their waitresses are rude, and so pushy! We ordered 6 rolls, some nigiri, edamame, miso soup, gyoza and some ice cream for our little one. The miso was very bland, had to add soy sauce to give it flavor, the edamame was overly cooked ,so on the soft side, some of the rolls that were supposed to be raw were warm, and the nigiri wasn't the good either. Overall will we come here again, no. Go pay the money and have sushi somewhere else, Chico has lost of great places to chose from. read more

We took our Daughter and Son-in law there for his Celebratory Birthday Dinner. They also brought our year old granddaughter. It was overall a good experience. The service was friendly and prompt. We were seated immediately on a Saturday evening and they had a high chair for the young 'un. The food was plentiful and well prepared. I lost track of how many dishes we ordered but it was a lot, I mean a whole lot! Probably 20 or so dishes total. All four of us were stuffed to the gills by the time we finished. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, which was great. Total cost was a tad under $200 including tax and tip and was absolutely worth it. We will be back. read more

I'll start with the food. The sushi is good but average. We had 7 different rolls between the 3 of us and none were so good I want it again. The appetizers were part of the all you can eat. I really enjoyed the takoyaki and wish I had a million more. Drinks aren't part of the price but that's fine. Overall was it worth it yes but I really hope they get creative with the menu. Our server was absolutely great. We have one moment where it took a while to realize we wanted to order more. She communicated that if we wanted more just to hold up our menu's. Ok I have to admit I would never eat at a all you can eat sushi buffet , but this place is different. You order off of the menu and for 90 minutes you can order whatever you can eat. You must eat it all or it costs extra. So those are the rules. Now the second surprise is the service. Very friendly, quick and attentive. Now for the third surprise. The food is good. I was pleasantly surprised of the quality and details. Great sushi, great appetizers, soups and salads. Yes of course they do not have Uni or scallops but otherwise pretty much everything else. I can not imagine that the pricing is going to last long but for now you get more than you pay for.
