Wow, used to eat at teriyaki house often but no more. Just had a horrible experience there. They used to be awesome. Ordered my usual chicken curry and added extra sauce for $1 more on their online ordering system. When I got it home opened the container to find very little curry sauce. Called to ask if we could just run back and pick up an extra side of sauce we were immediately put on hold and then told if it isn't picked up immediately the rice soaks up the sauce. Guess they didn't realize how many times I've made this exact same order and how many times it came out as expected. Often times there's so much extra sauce it's leaking out of the side of the container. Maybe the one on notre dame is still worth while but it seems east ave is circling the drain. Too bad. Teriyaki needs a few things to be considered proper teriyaki: a good char on the meat, short grain rice, a sweet and savory sauce with higher viscosity, and a shitty iceberg lettuce/shredded cabbage salad with a weird honey mustard-esque dressing. It also needs to be fast and cheap (relatively speaking) Teriyaki house does a great job at their meat, rice, service, and price point. Their sauce needs to be slightly sweeter and more viscous, but it's not lacking by any means. Their normal stir fried veggies are not the shitty iceberg lettuce salad characteristic to teriyaki. Great place for lunch. Has some awesome anime posters posted all over. read more

You can eat there, if you wish, the seating is fine and even though the location is small, there is plenty of room to feel comfortable. I love the bowls they offer, I get either beef or chicken and am never disappointed. They are composed of white rice, vegetables, whatever meat you decide on, nicely and neatly sliced into little strips and put on top, then finished off with some teriyaki sauce. They are always well prepared, arrive hot and satisfy my taste buds. Sometimes a little more sauce would be nice on the meat and rice but you can request it and pay just a small amount more. It's not much more, by the way. Teriyaki chicken was pretty good, the beef was ok. The dining area is sparse and run down. The girl was nice, but very much in a hurry. The soda machine doesn't work, the bathroom was locked the entire time I was there(30-40 min) and right as I was leaving an employee came out. There is a large sign on the door saying "NO PUBLIC BATHROOM". There is no AC or it was not working, very hot inside. Let the curry dishes to the knowledgeable. This one definitely a serious miss. 1.5 Stars. Beef and Chicken Combo, $10.50. Here is the well deserved controversy. Quantity or Quality? Quantity was very generous. Quality was not present. Formula cooking, dried up somewhat, teriyaki sauce-not great-on the side. Two, 3 pieces of veggie, one isolated small piece of cabbage, really, why did they even mention them? Steamed rice soft. Beef not juicy at all, like some reviews led to believe. Chicken overcooked, some pieces better than others. I can see for some the amounts tilt scale from not so good to right on! 2 Stars. Imperial Egg Roll? 2 for close to $3? Not worth it. A pretty solid teriyaki spot. Only been here once, but it satisfied what I was craving and was a solid value. Got the chicken teriyaki bowl for $7 and it certainly wasn't lacking chicken! A pile of slightly charred, but still juicy chicken sat on a bed of rice with some carrots and cabbage and then it was all hit with a drizzle of teriyaki sauce. In a perfect world, I would love a 1/3 of each ratio, but this was pretty solid. Everyone was ordering to go and I didn't see anyone eating there, so there's a strong chance they are to go only. The absolute best bang for your buck in Chico. Teriyaki House was a staple for me during my college days. A mere $6 gets you a gigantic plate loaded with hot, fresh food. I'm referring to the #2 plate with a hearty serving of teriyaki chicken, spring rolls, and sweet & sour pork. Crispy, flavorful, delicious, and totally fills you up. This location is adjacent to the hardware store I worked at, and I spent many a lunch at this place. The venue is small and narrow but tidy and has an endearing quality. The staff tend to shift between their multiple locations, I've noticed. Service is always friendly and the ladies are very sweet. Parking is ample, too. If you're on a budget or just looking for a good Asian bowl/plate, give this awesome little spot a try. read more

I ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl (rice + chicken + vegetables) and it was SUPER cheap! I think it was about $6 for the entire bowl and the portion was pretty big. I could have saved some for leftovers but everything was so tasty the bowl didn't stand a chance. Restaurant itself is fairly small, definitely not a place to bring a large party. Sad excuse for Asian food. I need to give up on finding good Asian food in Chico. The teriyaki chicken was extremely dry, almost like jerky. The sauce is in a cup on the side, so you add however much you want, however it definitely was not enough to counter the dryness of the chicken. The "sweet and sour pork", if you could call it that, was disgusting. It was pieces of pork that was battered and soggy and there was maybe half a spoon of sweet and sour sauce drizzled on top... Every other place I've been to had the sweet and sour pork covered completely in sauce. The steamed vegetables were hard, like they only spent 5 seconds in hot water. I love me some teriyaki house. Always consistent, tasty, and perfectly cooked. Their chicken bowl is my favorite-- the perfect amount of teriyaki sauce (not drenched, but definitely not dry), the veggies are well cooked, and a good amount of rice. I love their "imperial" rolls (basically a vegetable egg roll) and they are alwayssss hot so they don't get cold by the time you get home if you get it to go. We've eaten many times at Teriyaki House. It's unusually a go to for our family. We frequent the location on W East Ave but it's closed for remodel I think? So we decided to try the Notre Dame location. Never again! We got the Combo 1 and it was completely flavorless and EVERY piece of chicken was BURNT! We grabbed it on the way to work for lunch so went without lunch that night. It's definitely wasn't worth the $60.00 spent. I wonder why they even thought it was a good idea to serve it?
