I hate giving it 3 stars cause it does do a lot right but I have to also be honest with myself and others. For being one of the very few restaurants, let alone a sushi place, in Magalia it is a life saver. It really does hit the spot when we don't want to cook and need that sushi fix without leaving the hill. They don't have the best tasting rice and their roll menu is pretty limited but I also totally get having a smaller menu for our location and having less ingredients. Their rolls can occasionally be a little off on proportions(rice to fish ratio can be pretty meh overall) and topping slice can be a little thin(I believe it's the cherry blossom roll? The salmon slices are a bit thin for me) but again it's totally edible.their tempura shrimps are always yummy and good quality. I do have to say the dipping sauce that comes with their tempura is not my favorite at all tho. Tends to just taste like a beef broth or something. I recommend using ponzu or even soy sauce instead. They have always been super nice and I believe all family ran(at least currently during Covid) they also have handled Covid very well. Doing pick up only and being on time with my orders. They also offer online ordering via an app. Parking is always good with plenty of space. Inside is clean and cozy when able to dine in. Can't comment on much else than the sushi but the employees/owners are always nice and I'm glad to be able to support them. It's been at least a year since I went here. After first experience there I won't go back. In 120 degree weather they were open with one or two window air conditioners. Ok so when the food came it looked like meager left overs. My back was to the air conditioners and I began to feel faint from the heat in the place. Next, I would pass out briefly waking up vomiting. It was a very bad experience. By the way, with many splattered looking dirty mirrors lining the walls of the dining room this should have been my first clue not to procédé ahead with the plan to eat there. read more

Let me preface this by stating 2 facts: 1) I'm a Campfire Survivor- so my restaurant standard is very LOW. Everyone here on the Ridge appreciates anyone who endeavors to feed us. 2) My family has happily eaten there at least twice a month for a few years now, without complaint. THAT BEING SAID, Sakura Sushi has gone downhill with the new ownership. Today I had to take all food back for safety reasons. We were served rancid Teriyaki Beef and foul Chicken, no pun intended. Moreover, a staple of the meal was completely omitted - NO RICE, and the price we normally pay was increased by 25%??? Truly awful and frankly dangerous. I had a dinner at Sakura with my mom few days ago, the food were so awesome! Especially the sushi, and the Chowmein. I heard about they changed a new ownership, but food is still very perfect even better than before! I love salmon , and The Lionking roll is awesome for me! Hit or miss. Sushi is good, but the Chinese food is very poor quality. Not much flavor. Meat is always chewy and veggies are soggy.

We thought we'd give the new owners a try, we aren't much for sushi but we tried their Chinese offerings, my wife ordered the Mongolian beef and fried rice I ordered the salt and pepper fish fillet and half fried rice and chow main. Went last Sunday for dinner around 6:30. No wait for a table. Tried to order sake and beer, told they have no liquor license yet. Strike one. Got a seaweed salad that was good but has that gross iceberg Sysco lettuce down at the bottom. Ordered two rolls and a kids meal for our son. The specialty rolls are all around $11 a roll. Not. Overpriced for a roll at all. Food came quickly. Lethe cherry blossom roll was decent. Wrapped in tuna all around the outside and only a little bit of rice. My husbands rainbow roll was huge but so bland. Literally tasted like nothing. Strike two. The kids meal had onion rings and pot stickers that tasted like cardboard. Hard to mess up onion rings. I give the place 3 stars only because sometimes first impressions are everything. And, my first impression was on Valentines Day. The food quality and presentation was great, the service severely lacked, hence 3-stars. However, the waitress worked her tail off all by herself to a full house (at one point) of patiently waiting customers, not only to host and seat, but to take orders, serve, and clear. At times all you could hear were her feet literally running back and forth throughout the restaurant. She rushed us when she did finally stop at our table (we had questions as it was our first time), we ordered tea, never came, and another part of our order was mixed up. These things are expected to happened when you have only one waitress on duty especially on one of those most busiest date nights of the year!
