Always passed by this place but never got around to it. But it's just amazing, the food and everything My thoughts will be categorized so it'll be out of order but the numbers will tell you the order it was originally Food: 6. After heavily deciding, I chose, albacore roll, japanese taco (tuna), and oyster shooter. 9. The lady then asked me for my id. Of which I was confused. As you may have noticed if you have seen the menu, oyster shooter is on the drink menu. Turns out, theres alcohol in it. Its an actual shot with oysters in it. (For some reason I didnt compute in my head). So I just asked to remove it from my order but then they offered to just take away the alcohol from it. So I did that. Hoping the price would go down significantly. (I dont think it did but it was still good. ) 10. After more waiting, the oyster shooter came first. It was very little cause I had it with no alcohol when it was supposed to, the glass was cold and I just shot it like it was a shot (not that I drink alcohol lol) cause its a shot idk where Im going with this. It was actually really good. Caution: VERY STRONG FLAVOR. Its not super salty, its just hits you in all the right places (sounds weird). It was delicious. I shot it then, while still in my mouth, grab the oyster a little cause it got stuck at the bottom. The drink Goes down really easy. I was not sure of the taste at first but after having the after taste and all, man that was really good. It might be an acquired taste tho since the flavor is that strong. Also the money is def not in how full you get, its probably mostly from alcohol (which I didnt get) but other part flavor and that made it worth it. Rarely do I see foods that are actually worth the price because of flavor alone 11. Enough talking about oyster shooter. Next one came out was albacore roll. The wasabi was fresh. On first look, that looks like a dot, like how could that be enough, boy was I wrong, I just grabbed a little bit of wasabi onto the sushi and it was still super pungent in the right ways. So good wasabi. Another thing is the soy sauce came in this tall glass with a spout thing. Pours very well. Good sauce. 12. Ok got side tracked, albacore roll, was good. Not in flavor. Actually lacked a bit of flavor which made up for with good wasabi and soy sauce. They do give a fist full in size tho, the rolls were chunky and it definitely made me full. 7. When choosing the japanese taco, they asked me for the topping. I thought they were just the ingredients but the words below the name were actually toppings to choose. 13. Last one is japanese taco. As I've said, I chose tuna topping. It came on top of some kale it looks. The taco was delicious as well. The shell was fried and crisp. The toppings did give it a lot of flavor. Pretty good. I'd eat this again. (Tbh I expected it to be worse since usually anything I've never tried ends up being sad. Happily surprised). The kale at the bottom I also ate. Raw kale, nasty, but I pulled through thanks to a leftover tomato from the taco. Layout: 3. The front lady asked me if I wanted to sit here or the bar, I didnt know what the bar was so I just said bar for the experience. They had a second room if you walk some more. They also had an outside where you could sit outside with some fencing around but can still get the wind and sunlight. I sat in the second room not outside. And then they also told me to pick a seat so I picked the couch. 19. They did make the oyster shooter at the bar/second room. There was also a tv at the bar/second room. It was kind nice cause you get to see a little of the first room and the outside room too. Extra note: 1. On coming in at like 3:10pm ish since goog maps said it opens at 3pm, the door was locked and the lady told me that it opens at 3:30pm so either google lied, it changed, or they needed extra time. 2. When I did come in, all the servers were very nice. 18. I talked to a total of 3 workers. The front lady who always stays in the front for the most part. 2 waiters. 1 a girl and the other a guy, girl came up to me the most, maybe she owned the second room or something. But the guy did ask the same questions the girl asked some times so maaybe some communication going on. It was fine tho. 4. They gave me 3 menus, main menu (sushi and plates), happy hour menu (open time to 5pm) and drink menu. (I took pics of all 3 front and back as you can see) 5. She also gave me a glass of water almost instantly without question. Love these kinds of restaurants 8. After getting the order, I was set and they didnt take the menu so that was nice. 15. Eventually, they asked if I wanted the check, I said yea, they said I can go to the register when I'm ready so that was the last thing they said to me. 17. 5 star, would go again, didnt have a single complaint about the food. Its great service but as an introvert it did hurt some times lol. 20. Deleted some thoughts for text limit

Spicey tuna roll. So small and nothing but tuna! Pretty bad!

They are famous for their Poké bowl, but we only did sushi this time (my willpower deserves recognition).. The edamame was excellent and their miso soup is still one of my favorites anywhere. It just tastes different... richer and more intentional than the usual versions. I'm a huge saba fan and theirs was exactly why I keep coming back... clean, fresh and done right. My kid had the tataki and it was the same story there, super fresh and gone in about thirty seconds. We also had the Gilroy (yum) Japanese Cowboy, Red Dragon, Hibachi Sunset and Lotus Cobra. The Lotus Cobra is one of those rolls you order once and then it just becomes part of your future. The ambiance is probably my favorite in Chico. It's one of those places where you can have a great meal and some top tier people watching at the same time. Service is always solid, friendly without being fake, and everything from the dining area to the bathrooms is consistently clean. I'll just say it... I wish we had a place like this back on the Mendocino Coast. Until then, this is always going to be my Chico sushi stop. If you like fresh fish, good energy and a place that just feels dialed in, Rawbar is hard to beat.

I don't know how they prepare their baby back ribs but they are AMAZING! So tender and literally melt off the bone! OBSESSED! LOL I also got the red dragon roll ( asked for extra spicy) and the Sacramento roll . SO good! Most of this was to go as I always have my ice chest with me! It's classy...clean..and staff are very professional. Full bar and inside and outdoor seating. RAGAN AND Sjarif are the best ( A team!). Love love love this place! Great asset to downtown Chico!

Most rolls are around $12 but a few do go up to around $15+ which is honestly more typical at other sushi places. We did to go and got plenty of food for two for around $60. Everything was good, the crab ragoons were a bit chewy. The sushi tacos were huge, I don't remember them being that big and I could only eat one and the crab salad seemed a little mayo heavy. They did forget to give us our drink but also kind of on us for not checking before we left. Now that I know it's not too expensive I will be back more often.

Our favs have been the Japanese Tacos, Gyoza, Sushi Sampler Plate and any number of rolls. The side salad with the Wasabi dressing has always been and is still delicious! Every place can have an off day or item but the last two visits leave us looking for other options. The sauce for the Japanese Tacos has become so spicy hot we've had to have them hold it - something's changed there. The gyoza (2 orders for one person and one order for the second person were all served on the same plate, forgivable but they were bland and the sauces were spilled when the waitress set them down. The Sushi sampler contained "room temp", not cold raw fish and was literally flavorless AND the rice tasted old and chalky. I tried the spicy tuna roll the month before and I could not eat it. It was flavorless and warm. Our last visit's service was very poor. Had to ask more than once for the basic wasabi and ginger. Then we had to ask for our beverages again halfway through our meal. Used to be awesome but this is two poor experiences in a row. I've been enjoying Japanese cuisine throughout California my entire life and this just wasn't worth it. The place is also loud and rushed.

Was slightly concerning for dinner time to be so slow but it also was nice not dealing with other folks. The second visit was very strange as our food took forever, yes we had one couple ahead of us and one pick up order but it still took over 20 minutes for our first roll and our daughters avocado roll arrived last and an hour after ordering. This was just strange but they only had one sushi chef working. Another issue was our omakase orders, one was just a Tina roll and the other was the surf n turf roll. Which both rolls are totally fine but it wasn't what I thought I'd get when ordering omakases. Also the ginger that say was really flavorless, I've never had such watery bland ginger before. Being in the old Japanese blossom build it has plenty of space, and with the lack of customers the parking lot was a lot easier to deal with compared to when it was JB. No music was playing but it was well lite and didn't have any noticeable smells. If we could remove the odd Saturday night dinner it would rank higher. But that second visit was a huge miss from time to flavor.
