This place is just gorgeous with its leafy green theme. It almost feels like a jungle was placed in the middle of NYC. Masks required when walking to your table and we had a reservation. Without a reservation you'll have to wait a while for a table. All employees had masks on and good social distancing. There are random hand sanitizers stationed throughout the whole place. The frozen watermelon margaritas are their most popular drinks and it definitely rises up to it's name. Normally margaritas would be super sweet and sometimes you can taste the Margarita mix but not these. These were perfect!! The food was amazing as well. Honestly we had no issues with the staff, service or food. However this place is VERY pricy. I would argue that the price is worth it because of the scenery. We were sat at one of the low tables with couches. The couches were very comfortable and pillows were in there as well. I wish we got another two orders. Everything is very pricey, but that's usually expected with a place like this. I really enjoyed myself but it wouldn't be a spot I'd return to again. Went here for brunch the other day. They only offer five brunch dishes and I had the Brunch Pizza with a Watermelon Margarita. Everything was delicious! First of all, the margaritas are soooo gooood. Squash blossom and burrata pizza: a LIE, this pizza has mozzarella on it NOT burrata. And the mozzarella they put on it is so sparse some pieces don't even have any on it. The pizza is TINY for an expensive pie. JUST NO Steak: it was recommended by our waiter. we asked for medium -- it was fully cooked. For $32 we expected a great cut -- it was TERRIBLE, chewy, flavorless due to overcooking, and TINY. It was the size of my fist (I am 5'4" and my fist is TINY) -- on the side of the dish we're potato chips that I could only describe as Lays -- IM POSITIVE THEY ARE LAYS. I was able to get a last minute reservation here on a warm Saturday night just as the NY weather was getting good. This is the perfect place to hang with friends on a warm summer day and grab outdoor drinks or a low key night with good drinks and good food. I loved the steak with the chimmichuri sauce! The grilled lemon on top brings out the best flavors. Our server Suzy was awesome as well! She made us laugh and gave us all of the best recommendations! She kept us having a good time until closing and gave us good places to head to when the restaurant closed. But the tables are kind of weirdly spaced and our table in particular had an awkwardly placed plant that was hanging over the table and poking us. The drinks are pricey but not memorable and the food was standard. We had one of the flatbreads and kale salad. The server was friendly but it felt like they were a little understaffed and left us feeling forgotten at times. So drinks wise my drinks were decent. I just don't recommend the Moscow mule drink since I couldn't taste the carbonation or alcohol at all and it was wayyy to sweet. Service at bar was great with awesome bartenders! Our waiter was aggressive and rude though. He barely checked on us and he got my drink order wrong and refused to accept that he got it wrong and was arguing with us over it. Even the people next to us backed us up because they heard what I ordered and what was brought out. The thing about Gilligan's is there are ways to do it right and have a great time, and ways to do it wrong and have a so-so time. The menu is ALL over the place and somewhat uninspired. You've got a $17 kale salad, a $16 avocado toast, and a $44 branzino, with only a few items in between. I got the avocado toast and my friend got the butter lettuce salad. The avocado toast ($16) was a little strange. The "toast" was more like a roll, and was sort of gummy. There was an egg on top which was a little overcooked. My friend's butter lettuce salad was literally a $16 plate of lettuce. SERVICE: The service was OK; our server was very nice and patient with us, but disappeared for a long time towards the end of our meal; it was difficult to flag someone down to bring the check. Otherwise, totally fine; no issues here. PRICING: I thought that $80 (post tax/tip) was pricy for 2 drinks, a head of lettuce, and a piece of bread with avocado on top. They did still offer the free tequila deal for us even though we weren't seated until after the promo ended which I appreciated and the staff was amazing and super apologetic about the wait times but I think that if the wait is going to take that long even if you have a reservation then you need to reevaluate things. I've never really come to this place for the service, or even the mediocre drinks, it's really all about the island vibe/spacious outdoor atmosphere. The last time we went we got drinks and then had to get food (which is totally fine w me I'm happy that the restaurant is following the rules) we just got oysters (8) because we had just been to brunch. Omg they were the nastiest things I have truly ever seen or been served anywhere in the entire city. They looked like they had been shucked days ago, all of the "liquor" (the briny liquid naturally inside an oyster) had dried up and the edges were dried onto the shell itself and starting to yellow. I didn't take a picture until we had already squeezed lemon juice on them, because I was going to attempt to at least try one but upon bringing it close to my face it smelled way too awful to even taste. The oysters also werent fully shucked with the large muscle still attached to the shell (as you can see in the pic the oysters were collapsing around this round white that is actually showing through the top of many of the oysters ) The good news is our waiter was very understanding and promptly took them off the check and offered us other food but I had seriously lost my appetite after picking up that oyster. One of our group ordered the grilled skirt steak medium, it came back very rare (bloody). We sent it back, it came back super well done. Gave up and had it taken off our bill. We ordered the cuke celery juice they were out. Of the 3 juice offerings they only had the wheat grass. So we just had water and a Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was decent. When we got the bill, we were charged for the nonexistent cuke celery juice and had to get that taken off the bill. To summarize, probably an ok place for drinks and ambiance. Would not go back. Love this pop up bar/restaurant. They definitely captured the vibe of Gilligan's Island with its big banana leaf plants and greenery. They created a beautiful enclave with comfy cushioned benches and white fairly lights. I would highly recommend stopping in here for a drink and getting their signature watermelon margarita. We didn't eat while here but the menu looked good. Expect Manhattan prices for drinks but you are paying for the beautiful ambience and beautiful people watching here. The outdoor dining setting was very appealing and had this jungle like feeling. I feel honestly I should have went during the summer or early fall where I feel we get a better view of sunset/better weather! The pizza were surprisingly delicious because usually I wouldn't get pizza unless I go to a pizza place. The tuna crudo was very fresh and had a nice flavor to it! Our table also ordered the Maine Lobster Roll $29 which is served with lemon, tarragon, an iceberg wedge, & chips. This is another menu item which is substantial & tasty. Then there's the Crab Bake $24 - which is more of a soufflé. It is served with lump crab, grilled corn, Asiago summer squash. It's a very rich & delicious dish. I love Gilligan's, and I always chuckle a bit when I tell friends to meet me here because it really does seem like Gilligan's Island right in the middle of Manhattan.
