Especially those with disabilities or chronic health conditions. Following a minor, accidental self-checkout oversight, their loss prevention Security escalated the situation into a hostile interrogation in a back room. More alarming than their automated corporate policies was their physical and aggressive overreach: Disregarding Medical Needs: I live with Multiple Sclerosis and moderate balance issues. While walking to the back room, their staff repeatedly tried to block and shove my partner who acts as my medical caretaker and was actively explaining that I needed his support to walk. Forced Isolation Tactics: They attempted to shove my caretaker out of the room repeatedly asking if he was coming in or not, refusing to acknowledge that a disabled person has a right to necessary medical and physical assistance. Invasive Search Overreach: Private security has no legal authority to act like law enforcement, yet they also subjected my partner to an invasive pat-down and bag search trying to claim he could have weapons. If anyone who suffers with cognitive, recall or processing issues for executive functioning or active memory, please be wary in self check out. I had paid for literally all my groceries and forgot one item in the cart I thought I had already paid for then put in a bag as I was getting ready to leave. That's when we were stopped by security where they continually tried separating me from my partner as he was trying to help me walk to carry our bags without a cart and escalating the situation when we got to the room. Accusing me of intending to steal a $4 item that I had agreed to pay for which they instead slapped with a $250 fine and trespassed me for life from all locations over a one time offense and a single mistake for $4. Law enforcement was not involved but they made it clear that if we didn't cooperate with their scare tactics and invasive search that it could very easily go that direction as my partner and I were being ambushed by three hostile and fairly large men in security uniforms.

I used to work for Smith's myself and they said that for every mention you get in a positive review of the store you could get a $15 gift card, so I'm hoping this review makes it to management so she can be properly rewarded. Thanks Kaylie! On another occasion that I came to this location I witnessed a two of Smith's employees helping out an elderly man who almost fainted from being on his feet for too long. Way to go guys!

After skipping over one too many recipes because I couldn't find the ingredients I finally went to Asian Market on 500 W in Provo. They have fresh food, spices, canned foods, frozen foods, refrigerated foods, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, Hawaiian, Polynesian, etc. etc. I was pumped! I spent a lot of time walking around admiring the selection. After a while I started looking for the ingredients that I came for. Initially I had a hard time locating the ingredients on the shelves because most of the labels were in another language. A worker asked if I needed help and showed me to all of the ingredient on my list! She recognized the ingredients and guessed the dish I was making and showed me the best version of the ingredient to use. All of the workers were super helpful and nice! It had a good friendly atmosphere and will be a place that I will frequent very often now in my grocery shopping.

I was just there last week to buy this (November 2020). This item has been on the shelf for 6 months passed the "sell by" date. I'm assuming the "sell by" date of May 2020, means that maybe a week or two, it will then be no longer "fresh" to eat, therefore, why is it still on the shelf for purchase? In addition, I asked a young employee there to see if they carried it, and he said no. Two minutes later, I found it myself. Huh. So....this leads me to believe that: 1. The employees are not fully aware of what they carry and sell. 2. They don't frequently check shelves and expiration dates of items they are selling. It's great and all that this Asian grocery store exists in Utah county, but I think it needs improvement on the management side. Again, this store is not super close to home, so this is a money loss for me since I'm choosing to not drive 18+ miles one way to exchange/return this item (I bought 2 bags of it). If they kept their shelves up to date, this wouldn't have been an issue.
