Been here a few times already, it's just a tad further than I'd like it to be. The store itself is pretty packed with food from aisle to aisle, and aisles are pretty narrow to begin with so if there's two of you in passing in one aisle, one, has to back out or else they would be invading your intimate space. However, this store has tons of variety of food from Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Thai, and Korean too. I'm pretty happy with what you can get here, especially having it be in Utah County (which lacks Asian grocery stores). I did come here last week and stocked up on snacks, Asian sauces, and other necessities. I did notice though, after I got home, that one of the items I purchased (ground chicharon = grinded up pork rinds) had the "sell by" date of May 2020 - say WHAT?! I was just there last week to buy this (November 2020). This item has been on the shelf for 6 months passed the "sell by" date. I'm assuming the "sell by" date of May 2020, means that maybe a week or two, it will then be no longer "fresh" to eat, therefore, why is it still on the shelf for purchase? In addition, I asked a young employee there to see if they carried it, and he said no. Two minutes later, I found it myself. Huh. So....this leads me to believe that: 1. The employees are not fully aware of what they carry and sell. 2. They don't frequently check shelves and expiration dates of items they are selling. It's great and all that this Asian grocery store exists in Utah county, but I think it needs improvement on the management side. Again, this store is not super close to home, so this is a money loss for me since I'm choosing to not drive 18+ miles one way to exchange/return this item (I bought 2 bags of it). If they kept their shelves up to date, this wouldn't have been an issue. read more

That strange smell so many people talk about is from Bitter Melon and some other asian herbs. In my book, it is the sign they will have what I am looking for. The products are numerous and I was able to get those hard to find items I can get when I travel to San Francisco or Los Angeles when I visit friends. Now that I have moved to Utah, I am SOOOOO happy to find this market. read more

I'm torn on this one. We moved to the area recently and on our first Saturday here, we found this market. My son is part Korean and I make dishes for him that require ingredients normally found in an Asian market. We went in and the folks at the register were friendly and helpful and I was able to stock up on some supplies. Fast forward to the following weekend and there are some students not of Asian descent at the register. We walked in and got followed. All I needed was rice wine for cooking but this guy followed us as if he expected us to steal. I am gainfully employed and do not need to steal. We were mildly offended and just stopped mid-aisle and stared at him. When he looked at us he turned around toward the glass case near the register. We laughed very loudly at him. The gall and nerve of him to make an assumption like that. Other than dealing with that human anomaly, we like the market. I may need to go to the one in Orem to be treated like a human being. It really disappointed me to be treated like that. I hope that guy is retrained and gets a better outlook on life. He is way too young to be such an...anomaly. read more

Very well stocked for such a small place. We live 2 blocks from this market and we do most of our grocery shopping here, as we eat mainly Chinese food at home. Your have to manage expectations: it's a small place, they won't have every obscure thing you'll ever want, but it'll meet all your basic needs just fine. The ingredients we've gotten from here have always been good quality. Happy to have this place so close by! read more

I really like Asian food and love cooking Asian food. In the past I have wanted to save time and have shopped for the Asian ingredients that I need at regular super markets. After skipping over one too many recipes because I couldn't find the ingredients I finally went to Asian Market on 500 W in Provo. I found everything that I will ever need for my Asian cooking and they have authentic ingredients. I was amazed at the selection that they have! They have fresh food, spices, canned foods, frozen foods, refrigerated foods, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian, Hawaiian, Polynesian, etc. etc. I was pumped! I spent a lot of time walking around admiring the selection. After a while I started looking for the ingredients that I came for. Initially I had a hard time locating the ingredients on the shelves because most of the labels were in another language. A worker asked if I needed help and showed me to all of the ingredient on my list! She recognized the ingredients and guessed the dish I was making and showed me the best version of the ingredient to use. All of the workers were super helpful and nice! It had a good friendly atmosphere and will be a place that I will frequent very often now in my grocery shopping. read more

Update 3/13/2014: The fresh vegetable section of this market sits all the way to the back of the store in a sad little corner. What more sad is the veggies themselves; very small selection of less than 10 different kinds and none of them are very fresh. The sprouts are the freshest things they got and even those aren't always in edible condition either. I know I know it's Provo, but still...I wish they got them delicious bok choy, well they do but I mean....FRESH ONES! I've noticed that the price of goods here continued to go up and down. Specifically, pricing of the imitation crab brand that I love had been reduced from $5.49 to $4.59! Well, I guess they realized nobody would buy them at that cut throat price. Still not quite as good as its original price of $3.80 but I bought some for homemade fusion sushi nights any way. Their service is alright. Owner is very friendly and got some very good suggestions. The white kids that work here though lol.....THAT'S a different story. Sometimes they're nice, other times they can be rude and weird. To be fair, it's probably their first job... and puberty sucks alright I get it. Bottom line, this is still one of my favorite Asian stores for dried, canned and frozen products. They sell them at a very fair price for the most part. While lacking in fresh produce and homemade snacks that other Asian stores usually offer, they make up for it in the product selections. The products here do not lean heavily to any specific Asian country. Instead, their isles are packed with ingredients from all regions of the Asian continent. Even the Indian spices has their very own isle, which I find quite impressive. This store is worthy of your business. read more

I suppose Asian Market is okay given the fact that there aren't many other alternatives in Utah Valley, but compared to 99 Ranch Market, Marukai, Galleria, etc. it is woefully lacking. Each ethnic cuisine (i.e. Japanese, Korean, Thai) has its own aisle, and honestly if you're looking for something specific or less common you're probably not going to find it there. They will only have a couple of brands' worth of alternatives for most things. The produce is absolutely awful in terms of selection and quality, and the meats are all frozen. To sum it up, if you want FRESH Asian ingredients, this is not your spot. But if you want Shin Ramyun, look no further. On another note, they have Tim Tams and some popular European chocolates. read more

I just moved to UT from HI and it's so nice to have a little taste of home. I love the bottled Thai Tea!! This is actually the only place I've found Thai Tea so far (besides Thai restaurants) Some of the products you can find in Walmart or Harmon's. But they do have much more variety. They also have very decent prices. Very easy to find. You'll see the building and sign as you enter downtown Provo. It's right next to the RAC. Haven't gone to any other asian stores, but this one is very homey. read more

As a native Chinese person, I was appalled by the "freshness" of the supposedly fresh items and produce. If you're looking for fresh Asian vegetables, look elsewhere. I called the store about some quail eggs that I bought today. I had hard boiled them less than an hour after I had bought them, and the whites of the eggs were speckled black. These definitely don't seem safe to eat or fresh! When I called about these, they offered to exchange the eggs. I think their customer service is terrible. With such appealing quality of these eggs, I would think at minimum they should give me a refund for the eggs. But I also bought some cabbage today and it was also slightly wilted. This was so disappointing to me! read more

Asian Market in Provo is the place I shop for food I want especially sea food and noodles. I don't go anywhere else but them cause they have the kind of food I want. This reminds me of back home where I originally from which is Micronesia. Its so nice to have them just couple blocks from my residential here in Provo. That make me not to worry of going to Orem or Salt Lake to shop for food I like the most. Oh and the employees in the particular shore are so kind, helpful and friendly indeed. I needed some Indian spices for a dish I was planning on cooking at home. I thought my chances of getting what I want in Provo were very slim. I was dreading the fact that I might have to drive to SLC for a few spices and Indian groceries, but to my surprise, Asian market had a small, but ample selection! They had many spices used in cooking plenty of Indian cuisine. They also had basmati rice (although, that is pretty easy to get these days even at mega chain stores). It would be great if they stocked Indian snacks (like chivda, sing bhujia, bhel mix, etc.) and more frozen Indian items like different parathas, rotis, samosas, etc. The only parathas I saw had terrible ingredients in them (margarine). Real butter, canola oil (or even better, olive oil) and wheat flour should be the main ingredients in parathas. Margarine and hydrogenated (or partially hydrogenated) oils are terrible for health. Anyhow, this is a good place for ethnic, multicultural groceries in Provo, Utah! read more

This is a Thai owned Asian grocery market, but they have a variety of different Asian groceries; Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese, etc. They have a fridge with some vegetables I believe, like lemon grass, bok choi and such. There is also a freezer with a selection of meat, but I didn't look too close. It's a very small store so they have limited supply, but if you are looking into getting some common Asian groceries, you should be able to find it. I think the Asian store on University Ave is bigger, but I believe their selection is mainly Chinese groceries. If you are looking for more Thai direction of groceries, this little store should suit your needs. read more

This is the best Asian store in Utah Valley. Good variety, helpful staff and very clean! There is a strange smell like most Asian grocery stores but it is not nearly as bad as some places in SLC. This is a fantastic Asian grocery store. Its clean, well-stocked, and the prices are great. As others have noted it is Thai owned but I still found the Korean ingredients I was looking for. Just moved from NJ to Provo, and I was pleased to find this store near my home. It covers most of items you need for Asian food, including sushi grade frozen tuna and salmon. Prices are pretty good, on par with large chain stores on coasts, which I did not expect in UT. I will keep on going there. read more

I'm just super happy to find a international store close to my work. They have Thai, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Indian, paki, Vietnamese and many more ethnic items... They even had Milka Chocolate kk. And they had my favorite vegetable spread. It does smell little funny, but typical of Asian store.. And price was pretty comparable to other stores. read more
