Walked here 2 miles to pick up groceries. That was a choice. I'm not dressed up and it's currently 7:34 am. I always have trouble with male staff. They are bigoted and follow me around, act suspicious and continue to not deliver the same level of service that they give to people that look like them. From being yelled at by the manager for saying that them not honoring a printed and online special wasn't fair (that's it. Didn't even raise my voice) to trying to get the self check clerk to figure out why the avocados wouldn't ring for 49 cents. He told me to pull out my phone and log into my account. I'm done with them. They are awful and the shelves are usually not stocked well. I had a Smiths worker help me and my girlfriend out while paying for our groceries. The price on the shelf said the product was on sale but when we were checking out it didn't register so Kaylie corrected it and gave us the sale price. I used to work for Smith's myself and they said that for every mention you get in a positive review of the store you could get a $15 gift card, so I'm hoping this review makes it to management so she can be properly rewarded. Whoever the manager is or whoever is in charge of quality control has no idea what they're doing. I am constantly buying "sale" items and getting home and looking at my receipt and low and behold the computer didn't give me the sale price - or i buy something and don't inspect the expiration date and it has expired. This is the messiest smiths I have ever been too. Every time I shop here everything in the refrigerator shelves are knocked over, out of place, nothing is organized or restocked. Either they are in dire need of staff or the staff just don't care. it's hard to find what I'm looking for. They say they have things in stock online and in store and I visit and everything is out. This store is really junky compared to the springville one. Staff doesn't want to work, aren't helpful, & they don't have many of the things we get @ ours. Overall it's just trashier & always a mess & they go out of their way- but only to give you a hard time on things that don't need to be. This Smiths is right by my office. Very convenient to stop on the way home to grab stuff for dinner. This isn't a big store, but they stock a wonderful variety of things for their size. The produce is among the best I've seen at a grocery store. Fresh a and well stocked. They have a good selection of meat. I have 2 minor complaints, but not enough to drop stars for. Their deli is not fast. It seems under staffed. No biggie though. The bigger thing is that their cart returns are way too few and far between. The parking lot can get cramped but I'd rather walk farther to the car than have to walk across the entire parking lot to return my cart. But like I said, this is minor and easy to get over. read more

Saturday Night Live once had a sketch that was based on the premise of "Don't buy stuff you cannot afford," as if this concept was some revolutionary new tactic. In an age of plastic money and incredible debt, you might think so. I only bring this up now, because when I was a poor, starving, emaciated college student, this was my Smith's. I knew all the tricks: jam a donut box as full as you an after 9pm for one low price, get the clearance meats; it was a lesson in only buying what I can afford. Missing the ol' college days, I stopped in a few weeks ago. Actually, that's not true at all. Ya, I stopped in, but I don't mind not having two nickels to rub together. I stopped in for a some stuff before a party: ice, plastic silverware, etc. I have to say, they've kept the place up quite nice. It's been updated a bunch and looks very similar to the other Smith's locations I frequent. I didn't expect it to be old, but it's not in the swanky part of Provo and it certainly is having some construction done across the lot, so expectations weren't high. There are definitely some nicer spots in town, in nicer places, but I appreciate the neighborhood, if only for nostalgia's sake. Lots of parking, but I'm not sure what's happening with the fenced off area to the south. This may affect their parking, or affect their traffic later. You UTC folks will have to let me know. I have found lately I have a fondness for Smith's. It's not the nicest spot, but it seems to center around the fact that they have a great flower section and--I'm not kidding--you never know who you will meet up with in the parking lot. read more

Since the construction and upgrades on this facility Smith's is a really nice place to shop! I use it mainly for convenience, or when I forget to buy something I need at another store, because it is definitely more pricey than other stores in the area. Smith's has mainly groceries and paper products. You can get medications, cosmetics, and cleaning supplies here, but if you're on a strict budget, it's best to look elsewhere. I can't speak for the gas, pharmacy, or the new pickup service. I have been really impressed with their fresh flower selection and prices! It's a great place to buy a bouquet for a loved one. I ordered a cake online from the bakery on N. Freedom Blvd in Provo for my daughter's birthday. The cake I received looked rushed and was a very sloppy version of the cake pictured online. It looks like a Nailed It! end product. I ordered it 5 days ahead of when I needed it. There was plenty of time to make a quality product. I am very disappointed in the quality of this cake. You might not want to go to this smiths when they are stocking shelves.. they'll run you down and stare you down. Total inconvenience for them to have shoppers trying to shop while they're stocking the shelves! Get out of their way! But here's why I'm writing this review: I'm not sure who trained the tall guy with the BLUE hair.. but someone tell him you don't bag raw chicken with fresh vegetables OR cans of soup with soft bread. Isn't that like bagger 101? Also let him know its proper etiquette that if someone says "Thank you".. you can at least say "You're welcome" Or "thanks for coming in". That's another thing.. why am I ALWAYS Thanking cashiers for giving them my money? Aren't they supposed to be thanking me for shopping there and paying their wages? This younger generation... at almost everywhere you shop these days.. they have NO clue about customer service or etiquette.. they seem to be so caught up in themselves they act as if shoppers are supposed to be so thankful that these "cool kids" went out of their way to go to their job and interact with basic people and accept our money or answer our questions. You know kids, you don't have to be overly friendly when you're at work, but you could at least try to be a tad professional & maybe even just the slightest bit polite (yes, even bagging at a grocery store). I wish Smiths would step up their game as far as who they hire or do some better training. It could be that management is crap (it's usually a top down thing)... I don't know, but Smiths in Provo is turning into what Allens Drug in south Provo used to be in the years before they shut down. Yikes! The only thing I really hate is how busy it is. Depending on when you go, it can be a nightmare to navigate the store. I would recommend going on weekday mornings if you can, it seems to be pretty empty then. That being said, the employees are friendly, the prices are fair, and I really like their digital savings along with the Free Friday coupon that's on their app. Lots of self-checkout lanes but also plenty of cashiers, so it never takes long to exit the store regardless of how busy it is. I find that there's cheaper produce at Ridley's in Orem, but the prices are very fair if not good across the board at Smith's, plus it's in a more convenient location, it's incredibly central to the neighborhoods south of BYU. read more

The store manager, Jason at Freedom Blvd Smith's totally embarrassed me and my husband. His behaviors and the way he treats customers are so rude and unprofessional. I had a coupon that I was using but they were short, so I asked for a raincheck. The person at the checkout was able to give me a raincheck. I also have another coupon which was in my disabled husband's name who was not with me at the time. Jason said that no matter what the person needed to be there in person to get the raincheck. I rushed home to get my husband and we returned 30 mins later. My husband is non-verbal bec of his illness. When we got to the counter, the same manager, Jason, interrupted and he started asking me, "who is he, why isn't he talking". I didn't want to give all the diseases info since it wasn't relevant, so I replied, "he is my husband and he cannot talk". Well, Jason kept saying that he didn't believe me and he is not comfortable giving the raincheck to me. He also yelled at me that I should go to the Smith's at Orem to get a raincheck. I'm so embarrassed that he did that in front of all the customers during a busy hour, I was even more confused and mad that he was the same person 30 mins ago who told me that I needed the person there with me for the extra raincheck. Also, 3 months prior to this terrible experience, my raincheck fell to the floor while I was trying to show the cashier, Jason stepped onto it as quick as he could so I couldn't pick it up, and he told me, "No, you cannot have it" as he picked it up afterwards and put it in his pocket. Like other reviews, "the most racist people working there" -- Jason, not being a good example, really needs to be FIRED. read more

Hey Corporate and Store Management: What's with your filthy bathrooms that are not only often dirty but at times run out of toilet paper and hand soap. Why isn't there some provision to take items off the shelves to make do when the shipment of bathroom supplies didn't arrive? Or why isn't there an extra supply set aside for when a shipment doesn't arrive? Sad to say, I had to make a run for the men's room and wound up soiling the toilet seat and floor due to the lack of toilet paper. I wound up using the one paper towel dispenser that was next to the doorway (the one nearer the sinks was out of paper), so there I was trying to keep from trashing my clothes with part of my bare rear end showing. Had someone entered the men's room people out on the floor would have witnessed an unsightly occurrence. I wound up taking at least six fair-sized sheets of paper towel with which to clean myself up. By the way, those subsequently soiled sheets of paper towel got thrown in the trash can near the doorway due to the awkwardness of my situation and the distance from the sinks to the toilet. The uncleanliness of the bathrooms means people using them when soap is not available then come out and contaminate fresh fruits and vegetables and packages with urine and fecal matter. Additionally, my grandson interviewed for a job at this store, only to refuse to go to work there because the employee lunch/breakroom was so filthy that he wanted nothing to do with your store. He rightly believed that your carelessness in the way you treat your employees' welfare made him feel very repulsed. Okay, I'll give you 30 days to get your acts together to clean up your facilities. If I don't see a serious improvement, I'll notify the health department after taking photos of the bathrooms with a woman's help. You are hereby warned! read more

If you love obnoxious BYU students and waiting in line for at least half of your life, you'll LOVE this Smith's. I go to this store occasionally because it's near some of my friend's houses and it's sort of a necessity when it's three AM on a sunday and the only other option is Walmart. But I hate when I have to go here. It is PERPETUALLY BUSY. Like at any given time of day or night, there will be no less than 75 people in the store, and they will all probably be in line. As a grocery store, it's fine and you can generally find what you need. Usually, a good sale is going on and you can save money which is always a plus in my book. BUT, like I said... you'll be waiting in line until you have grandchildren. read more

This is a pretty downright disgusting facility. Dirty, crowded, and filled with the aroma of a cheap Chinese buffet, I daresay there's no shortage of frightening things to see here. As far as grocery stores go, it's at the bottom of my list except it is, quite unfortunately, the closest one to our house. I was astounded when I moved to Provo how bad ALL the grocery stores were-- until I discovered Harmon's and then Sunflower Farmers Market opened. Here at Smith's you are subjected not only to subpar food selections (Kroger, anyone?), but also obnoxious BYU students with a real talent for seeking the lowest prices on gallon buckets of ice cream substitute and jell-o desserts for singles ward activities. The self checkout is a predictable nightmare, with the insipid female voice in that machine demanding I "wait for attendant" time and time again. I boycotted the deli, bakery, meat counter and produce here long ago. I only run over when I have a death wish and need some sort of dry goods that Kroger drones haven't tampered with. Once, a dude that worked here asked for my number and never called. You can decide which is the real reason I have such bitter feelings toward this place. read more

This is my local market. Close to my house very convenient. Oh and I already have a favorite cashier SHELLY (I just moved here) and she made me feel right at home. She's the best. But the reason for the 3 stars is because eevery time me and the kids try and get a donut or bread from the case there's aaaallways nats and flies in there. I would to get a Texas donut for my coffee in the morning but can't because there is a grossly amount of bugs/insects inside the case. Ugh read more

I've always had a great experience shopping at this Smith's. One of my favorite things that they do for kids is give them a free fruit they can pick while you shop. The free fruit thing is located in the produce section. Another favorite thing is they have every WIC (Women, Infant, Children healthy food program) product labeled. No other stores that I've tried for purchasing WIC foods has every product labelled. Also, when I check-out with WIC foods, the cashier is supposed to turn the aisle light off because it takes some time. Sometimes they turn it off, most of the time they leave it on. Their produce has okay prices. I've gotten a free little ice cream cone before when walking in. I'm not sure what time of day that they do this. If anyone knows, let me know! The cashiers and baggers have been extremely helpful for me when I'm holding my baby and have my hands full. I've had the bagger unload my groceries onto the belt from my cart even. Shout out to the employee/bagger Liz. She is so kind and always offers to help me take my groceries out when she's my bagger. My most favorite thing of all that they do is the Free Friday Download. You download an item on your phone every Friday, and then you get 3 weeks to go to the store and grab it - no tax even. 100% free. The parking lot can get pretty full at times but I've always been able to find a spot. Come in the morning when it's less busy. The only thing I wish this Smith's did was allow ad price matching. They do have a great app with digital coupons on it. Sign up for a Smith's account so you can get better deals and the Free Friday Download. The cashier can scan the barcode on your phone in the Smith's app or use your phone number or the actual card. read more

I placed an order at Smith's 350 N. Freedom Blvd. Provo, Utah. My order was placed around 5:00 p.m. Friday 6 January 2023. I was given a pick-up time between 8:00-9:00 p.m.. I arrived at around 8:30 p.m.. I logged into my Smith's app to let them know that I was there to pick-up my groceries. After waiting for about 10 minutes there was no response. I called a number that was posted on a sign above the stall number 1 where I was parked. I got a computer generated voice response acknowledging that I was there to pick-up my groceries. I waited another 10 minutes without anybody helping me. I asked one of their cart handler people to inform their staff that I was there to pick-up my groceries. After about 5 minutes a clerk came out and started apologizing about how his grocery guy had gone home early. He then said that he would go in and get the order ready. At that point I was pretty upset. I told him he could keep his groceries and left. Wow!! read more

Its nice to have a Smith's in a college town. The only thing I'd say I'm disappointed in is when I've shopped here it seems they have no contraceptives in the Pharmacy Isles. I don't know if I just didn't look hard enough but I've checked a couple of times. If they really don't carry them I think its a shame, especially in a college town, students need to be safe. Other then that the layout is fine and the hours aren't bad. The shopping cart return things however are not spaced out great, there aren't many at the back of the parking lot so people only park really close to the store making it really crowded. read more

I love my safeway in pville and EDH so i cannot be a fan of this place. That being said... its a grocery store that has food that is fairly priced... what else can you say? it poorly organized they divided the food with their card and magazine collection in the middle... what the hell? haha i dont get it all. The staff is super friendly right now it is open 24/7 which is smart (including sunday). Fair prices, become a member and get cheaper gas. Its close to my house... nothing else to say. My only suggestion... when you are in the cross walk going to the entrance... WALK FAST!! holy crap there are so many entitled people in provo who just take their sweet time and who sometimes just walk out without even looking for cars! read more

Horrible customer service given by Travis the cashier in the self help line. Was very condescending and rude when trying to use an instant savings coupon. I had clicked coupon to use it, waited, and scanned when prompted. I set the coupon to the side. He proceeded to come over and berate me for not waiting (when it was the computer system that told me to scan it) and told me in a rude tone to not expect to keep the coupon I was stunned as I had done nothing wrong, and as a paying customer definitely did not deserve to receive the treatment I did. When I told him that I did not deserve to be treated rudely he smirked and walked away. What horrible service. I'll also be giving a review to corporate. The only reason I took off a star was because this place is always so busy that it can be a nightmare if you go at the wrong time. Other than that I love this location! Everyone who works there has always been helpful and kind. The biggest reason I love this place is because they are constantly having great sales... especially on meat! I never buy beef or pork anywhere else because this Smiths always has the best deals- and I love deals! Totally worth it getting a Smiths card too. There's a small gas station across the street and you can get gas discounted when you have that card, and of course that's how you get all the smokin' deals in store! read more

The employees are very friendly. The cleanliness outshines the customer service.. in a bad way. We came in to grab a chicken strip and some fruit. The tables in the eating area were in disarray and dirty. I guess in not familiar with the demographics of Provo, but I wasnt sure why we were all of a sudden being flooded out of the eating area by homeless...type and drug users...type. They were friendly. A little too friendly. One wouldn't leave a toddler alone we had to get up and leave. Not trying to judge. I probably shouldn't even mention it. I just thought it was weird. The hot case looked unappetizing. The green beans were shrivled up and the mac and cheese could have been a scientific experiment. The whole store felt dirty.
