Especially those with disabilities or chronic health conditions. Following a minor, accidental self-checkout oversight, their loss prevention Security escalated the situation into a hostile interrogation in a back room. More alarming than their automated corporate policies was their physical and aggressive overreach: Disregarding Medical Needs: I live with Multiple Sclerosis and moderate balance issues. While walking to the back room, their staff repeatedly tried to block and shove my partner who acts as my medical caretaker and was actively explaining that I needed his support to walk. Forced Isolation Tactics: They attempted to shove my caretaker out of the room repeatedly asking if he was coming in or not, refusing to acknowledge that a disabled person has a right to necessary medical and physical assistance. Invasive Search Overreach: Private security has no legal authority to act like law enforcement, yet they also subjected my partner to an invasive pat-down and bag search trying to claim he could have weapons. If anyone who suffers with cognitive, recall or processing issues for executive functioning or active memory, please be wary in self check out. I had paid for literally all my groceries and forgot one item in the cart I thought I had already paid for then put in a bag as I was getting ready to leave. That's when we were stopped by security where they continually tried separating me from my partner as he was trying to help me walk to carry our bags without a cart and escalating the situation when we got to the room. Accusing me of intending to steal a $4 item that I had agreed to pay for which they instead slapped with a $250 fine and trespassed me for life from all locations over a one time offense and a single mistake for $4. Law enforcement was not involved but they made it clear that if we didn't cooperate with their scare tactics and invasive search that it could very easily go that direction as my partner and I were being ambushed by three hostile and fairly large men in security uniforms.

Thanks Kaylie! On another occasion that I came to this location I witnessed a two of Smith's employees helping out an elderly man who almost fainted from being on his feet for too long. The bakery here is amazing though! I've tried many pastries and breads and everytime I've not been disappointed! Parking is tough even though it is a big lot. There are many businesses in the area so be prepared to circle. The staff at this location are alright. It's pretty hit and miss. Not as chatty as the other stores in Salt Lake and some are less friendly than expected. Again I'll blame being such a small location and having to do a lot of work to keep up with demand. Event hough it's small, they are constantly receiving and restocking their items. Shelves are neat and bins are filled full of items. If you're looking for essentials come here. A worker asked if I needed help and showed me to all of the ingredient on my list! I was just there last week to buy this (November 2020). This item has been on the shelf for 6 months passed the "sell by" date. I'm assuming the "sell by" date of May 2020, means that maybe a week or two, it will then be no longer "fresh" to eat, therefore, why is it still on the shelf for purchase? In addition, I asked a young employee there to see if they carried it, and he said no. Two minutes later, I found it myself. Huh. So....this leads me to believe that: 1. The employees are not fully aware of what they carry and sell. 2. They don't frequently check shelves and expiration dates of items they are selling. It's great and all that this Asian grocery store exists in Utah county, but I think it needs improvement on the management side. Again, this store is not super close to home, so this is a money loss for me since I'm choosing to not drive 18+ miles one way to exchange/return this item (I bought 2 bags of it). So I took the machine down to the janitors closet and thoroughly washed out both tanks with clean hot water. My office is up on the 2nd floor so bringing this machine up and down two flights of stairs was not easy. Then I drove several miles to return the machine back to Macey's. Then there were two ladies who helped me with the return at the customer service center. Both of them did not have a positive "put the customer first" attitude so I knew I was in trouble from the start with them. The one lady grabbed the machine and pulled off a tab and found a few specks of dirt hardly noticeable. Then she flipped the machine over and there were brushes on the bottom that cleans carpet. She found a few carpet strands here too. And I mean nothing worth even mentioning. I told her that the girl who rented the machine out to me did not say one word about the brushes on the bottom. Had I known about that I could have taken my vacuum and cleaned the few carpet strands that were there. I asked her if I needed to clean that in order to bet my $30 deposit back and she said yes! So I had to haul this machine all the way back out to my truck, drive several miles back to my office, haul the machine up the two flights of stairs and I just finished re-cleaning their machine. I could hardly find any dirt in it!!! So the bottom line is I will never go back to rent their machine again! And my advice to anyone reading this is to find another place to rent a carpet cleaning machine! Dealing with these two ladies is way too much of a hassle!!!

There are times where they are filling shelves from carts full of boxes while there are carts trying to navigate crowded isles, but mid my occasional frustration, I try to think about what the shelves would look like if they were not trying to keep them stocked. We have found that employees in general and even those working in specific areas (such as produce) are helpful when we ask them questions. There could be more cashiers sometimes to reduce the lines, but it is a very crowded store.
