Get Caked is a cute little bakery nestled into the depths of Village Gate. The prices can be a little high for baked goods, but the thing is, it's all homemade right in front of you, and most of it is gluten-free, vegan, etc. which can be difficult to find in Rochester, and more expensive to make, so it's okay with me! The cupcakes and cookies are absolutely delicious and the people who run the bakery are some of the nicest people you will meet. They make a Cherry Vanilla cupcake that is to absolutely die for, and for my twentieth birthday, my dad surprised me with a big Cherry Vanilla cake and it both LOOKED beautiful and tasted delicious. If you're planning on being a return customer make sure to grab (or ask) for a little punch/rewards card. Reason it's not 5 stars is because SOMETIMES, NOT ALWAYS, the cake can be a little dry. Wow! I was very surprised with my cupcake experience today. I love love cupcakes, and I'm not usually even that picky about my sugar, but these cupcakes were pretty bad. We purchased 4 cupcakes, and I wanted to try all 4, so I cut them into quarters. Chocolate raspberry is one of my favorite flavors, so I started with that one. The texture was very strange, the flavor was weird. I actually spit it out. (I am wondering if that was a gluten free variety, and I'm just not used to the gluten free cake? I guess that's possible.) Raspberry almond was super dry. I also spit that bite out. Toffee caramel tasted good, but the caramel in the middle was so liquidy, it dripped right out. My wedding cake fell apart not once but twice. We later found that it was simply held together with plastic straws. I had also ordered Rice Krispie treats that were supposed to be made with fruity pebbles cereal (as per the owners suggestion), but received plain ones and was told by the owner that those are the only ones they do. As a long-time baker, I'm probably a little bit critical when it comes to rating baked goods... and so as a result, my review of Get Caked may come off a little harsh. To start off with, Get Caked is a little bakery that opened in the past year or so in the Village Gate after all of the re-modeling and is a nice stop for a quick sweet bite after dinner at one of the many restaurants nearby. They always have a handful of different cupcakes and and cookies of different flavors at the front of their storefront with a table or two on the side and keep a really low profile. It's nice though - it's really quaint, not too crazy, and definitely fits the ambiance of the area. The issue is mainly with the products they serve. Although they have a wide variety of cookies and cupcakes, the cookies are ddddrrrryyyyy, lacking in seasoning, and taste funny. I had a double chocolate cookie once and I couldn't even finish it. It went straight into the bin once I stepped outside the store. They're as flat as a DVD and are some of the worst baked cookies I've put in my mouth. I would definitely jump at a cookie you can get at one of the mall shops before trying one here again. The other cookie I had was some combination of toffee and caramel that was also dry, and too crunchy for my tastes. The cupcakes I had, on the other hand, I've had OK success with! I tried the chocolate raspberry vegan cupcake and the cake and filling were excellent! The filling was just raspberry preserves (couldn't tell if housemade or not), but the cake itself was velvety and punchy with chocolate flavor - just the way I like it. The top frosting I could give or take though, since it tasted like a weird version of a chocolate frosting tub you can buy at the supermarket. The weirdness though I'm guessing may have been a result of the ingredients used to make it vegan - something that probably didn't sit too well on my taste buds. I'm not the type of person who knows enough about baked goods to be able to tell a huge difference as to whether or not a cupcake is "good". I am, however, the type of person who definitely enjoys a good dessert. Lately, Get Caked has ascended to the top of my list, not just because of the delightful treats, but the outstanding customer service I've experienced. A last-minute cookie exchange left me in a lurch during the holiday season, and I knew I wasn't going to have enough time to bake enough cookies myself. The other participants didn't mind store-bought cookies, so I scoured Yelp for some recommendations. Get Caked was suggested to me and I decided to investigate. Not only could they supply me with plenty of cookies, but they did it with barely 24 hours notice. I was so impressed by the way they were able to help me out and didn't make me feel like I called too late or was asking for too much. As a general rule, they request at least 24 hours notice for a cookie tray order. Recently I ordered another 75 count tray with a week's notice this time. A 50 count tray is $25/$36 gluten free, 75 count is $36/$47 gluten free, and 109 count is $45/$56 gluten free. You really have to love those prices, and each cookie is fresh and super chewy. Personally, I recommend the toffee crisp and blueberry oat cookies as my top picks. I've had so many cupcakes there over the years that they all kind of blend together for me, but that's ok because it means that none of them were so horrible that they stood out in my mind. I recommend the chocolate peanut butter cupcake because I always like that flavor, but everything they have set out always looks amazing. The fruity pebble cupcake is usually the one one I've never seen anyone really care for, but I'm guessing there's a certain level of risk in baking dry cereal into a cupcake. For the price (between $2.50-$4), any cupcake is worth a shot. Get Caked specializes in gluten free and vegan treats and is very allergy-conscious. It's clear that the bakery understands that no two customers have the same needs, as well as the same wants when it comes to flavors. Cakes, cupcakes, and cookies can all be ordered to adapt to many dietary restrictions. Make sure when you go in, you get a punch card, you get one punch per visit and when you get 10 punches, you can redeem for a free treat. Who doesn't love free treats from a bakery? Recently attended a birthday party with the most delicious cake! I had to ask where it was from, and it was from Get Caked, I am not usually much of a cake lover but this was exceptional, very flavorful vanilla cake with a delicious custard filling. His silly claims are like reviewing Starbucks and raving about their coffee, but marking them down 2 stars for their poor taste in music. Not only was she flexible in scheduling tastings, but was attentive and invested from our very first meeting. We had several guests with significant dietary restrictions and allergies, and I myself have some tricky food issues with IBD. How should I put this...YUM!? The delicious smells did not deceive. First plus: So many vegan and gluten-free options. I've got this place earmarked for the next holiday's gifts. Second plus: They were frosting cupcakes in the back when we stopped in, and were happy to identify the fruit-filled ones I spotted as Peanut Butter & Jelly (yes please). They even offered to hold our purchases while we had dinner at Cali Rollin'. I managed to go a full 24 hours before cramming it into my mouth, and I have to say that they were calories well-spent. I have to admit, I'm not a cupcake fan. I love local businesses, so when Got Caked was featured in a few news articles, I thought I would visit and scope it out. My first impression is that the facility is impeccably clean. The new furnishings provide a welcoming and professional atmosphere. The view of the entire kitchen is excellent, lending a credence to not only the genuine baking but also the cleanliness. Being an avid local consumer, I tried some of the cupcakes. I was SHOCKED at how splendid the cupcake was (I ended up buying half a dozen, but more on that later). I know, I know, "how can a cupcake be so different than any other cupcake"? The consistency was great, the frosting was much better than most other cupcakes, but the success lies in the ingenuity behind the flavors. A cupcake made with Fruity Pebbles in the batter? An almond batter with raspberry filling? The lemon cake (so simple, subtle, and tasty)? I probably won't eat cupcakes from most other vendors, but I've been back to Get Caked a few times (twice in one day, once). The cookies (in my opinion, the main attraction) are PHENOMENAL. I'm not vegan, but I cannot articulate how marvelous the vegan oatmeal cookie is (happily, Kelly makes two varieties - with and without raisins). Wonderful experiences with Get Caked so far. I attended a cupcake-decorating event and the shop was a great host. I was delightfully surprised to find myself biting into a moist cupcake with quality frosting. It's so easy to make a bad cupcake... but Get Caked does it right. I was so excited to find a vegan bakery place and I live outside of NYC and it's so hard to find and they are so expensive! I went in and did not like the location, a place like this needs a street side location, it would do amazing! I would like to start this review by saying that I am a die hard Sugar Mountain fan and I can't help but compare all other cupcakes to theirs. I tried Get Caked for the 1st time and I thought my cupcake was tasty, but not amazing. I felt the cupcakes were appropriately priced for their size and there was alot of variety. Unfortunately I am allergic to peanuts and about 1/2 of the cupcakes on display had peanut butter or nuts on them. That was slightly disappointing. I opted for the vanilla custard cupcake. Furthermore, when I got home and opened my box, I saw that the guy had packaged the gluten free brownie ON TOP OF THE GF CUPCAKE. WHY??? It ruined the whole presentation of the cupcake. Very soft 3 rating from me. I was given a sample of vegan chocolate cupcake and could EASILY tell that it was not a traditional cupcake. Not to say it was bad; it was more chewy than anything. But being that I'm a not a vegan I wouldn't choose to eat a vegan cupcake if I could help it. I wound up getting a few of the non vegan cupcakes. The red velvet was probably my favorite; even though the color was more maroon than traditional red velvet, it tasted ok. The other two cupcakes did not. Anyone who has eaten Fruity Pebbles knows the structural integrity of it is short lived when sitting in milk. How long until it turns to mush, a few minutes? The fruity pebbles in the cupcake had a tasteless chewy consistency and clearly do not hold up well in the baking process. The vanilla cupcake with choc frosting i tried suffered from a staleness problem. Of the 3 I tried, only the red velvet wasn't stale which may be why it was my favorite. On the flipside, everyone that works there is really nice, and its hard not to like nice people and their products. But these cupcakes just arent worth $2.50 a pop. I've been here twice in the past week... First time, went with girlfriends after dinner at Salenas, because somehow we still had room after eating every tortilla chip in the place. We literally followed the sign towards the baked goods. Impulsive sweets are the best kind. I had a cupcake and was blown away by the almond frosting on the red velvet. It was super sweet, would eat it with a spoon. The actual cupcake, however, was a bit dry. It was ok with the frosting on it, but alone it wasn't great. Seemed to be the general consensus. They have free coffee and tea though, a rare find anywhere, and a welcome treat. The 2nd time, however, I was guided to the cookies by my friend, and WOAH, what a difference. Cookies for the win! I am pretty disappointed with the response the owner, Kelly gave me when I emailed her on the fact the cupcakes we ordered for my son were not marble. They were vanilla, with a teeny bit of chocolate. She told me the chocolate was on the top- it wasn't. I didn't get any sort of response like," I am sorry that they were not what you expected, how can we make it better." It was pretty much, I was wrong. I would think as a business owner, she would want input. My email was not rude or unkind on any level. My intention was to let her know the flavor was not right. I emailed again and let her know that, no they were not marble. I never heard back. I would alsoi expect as a business owner that she would want the public to have a positive view. Word of mouth is the best type of advertising. I will say that the outside of them were perfect. My son wanted hedgehog cupcakes and they were spot on, although I will say a bit on the dry side. I have had better. However, because of the poor customer service I will not be back and I have ordered many times from them. She should value her customers more. I do marketing for a retail store and I know from experience that no matter how good a product is, if the service is poor most people will not be back to the establishment and the word of mouth will not be positive. Lacking experience and taste. My fiance and I came here because we have vegan and gluten free friends that are invited to our wedding. The woman who runs the shop was very nice, but they are still newer business even though they have 5-7 years under their belt. When I first went to make the appointment via phone, the girl said okay we will see you then and then the owner called me back because the girl at the desk didn't check with the owner for availability. Okay so the girl seemed to be new maybe not too sure. We met the woman who runs the shop, I forgot her name! she seemed nice and liked what she does! Then I asked if they had any other treats besides cupcakes. The lack of experience shined through that. Then the owner let us go on and taste the cupcakes and we first tried the carrot cake... tasteless. There were no nuts or raisin.. The heck kind of carrot cake cupcake is this.. then we went to try a few others. One with raspberry in the middle, no flavor. Vanilla.. no flavor.. We had Get Caked Bakery for our wedding cake. We went for a meeting with Kelly who is simply just a wonderful human being. The cake samples were absolutely delicious and made it almost impossible to choose just three flavors. Our wedding cake came out absolutely perfect it was everything we wanted and there was hardly any leftovers which rarely happens. We also had Get Caked make our daughter's baptism cake which was also absolutely delicious we did a vanilla cake with a raspberry filling, again hardly any leftovers amazing prices for amazing products. There was a slight hiccup in the order and Kelly fixed the problem and delivered it to us! We also have family members who are gluten free so the fact that gluten free items are on their menu already is such a life saver. Husband and I stopped here after a sub par dinner at California Rollin'. Something had just finished baking, and my husband got it. This little gem of a bakery is simply the best for cupcakes, cakes, and cookies. They have a wide variety of desserts, and many of them are either vegan or vegan/gluten free. I personally don't eat with those restrictions, but the desserts carrying those labels are just as delicious as the standard versions. Recently they catered the desserts for my wedding. Not only was I completely taken aback by the fantastic pricing but I was blown away by how friendly the staff members treated me. I tried their tutti fruity cookie and chocolate truffle cupcake and I'm telling you I raved all evening about how amazing the cupcake was. Moist, chewy, and the frosting was so sweet and creamy. Probably the best cupcake Iv had in my entire life. If my wedding cake tastes anywhere near as good as that cupcake I'll be only buying their cakes for every occasion. I have to commend this baker on not price gouging as well. Multiple places I looked at wanted $4-$5 per serving for a wedding cake even with me wanting a simple baked cake design. Keep in Mind these places also only have a handful of flavor options. Get caked gave me a rough estimate for half that price and I can choose between close to 20 flavors ranging from fruity pebble to Boston cream and anywhere in between. With all the stresses of wedding planning and how expensive the planning already is it was such a nice experience being treated kindly by the staff and finding a place that cares more about the customers then money. read more

My sister is vegan and I wanted to get some desserts for her for a family gathering. She loves sweets but can't have or chooses not to eat the ones my family makes. First Visit... Stopped by to see what the place was like. I was a few minutes early and had to wait for them to open, but the minute they opened the door I knew I had made a good call. The smell was amazing! I am admittedly not a huge fan of cupcakes, so I did not get one of those, but I will probably try one at some point. I did get an iced sugar cookie, and a blueberry oatmeal cookie. The sugar cookie was very good... clearly fresh, and came in cute ghost or pumpkin shapes. The blueberry oatmeal cookie was a revelation! So delicious and moist, with mild blueberry flavor and a great density. As far as the store front, it is small, but very nice. The area seemed extremely clean. The building it is in is very unique and fun, and has some other stores as well. The employees manning the shop were both VERY friendly, and happy to help me. We chatted a bit, and they offered cookie suggestions and advised that they normally have many more cupcake flavors 'on tap' (they were still cooling from the oven waiting to be iced... again, I arrived RIGHT as they opened). Between the amazing baked goods, and the personable service, I will definitely be returning here to try more products. So much for my diet... Multiple Visits Later... Still awesome. I have tried almost every cookie now, and they all rock. My favorites are the blueberry oatmeal, peanut butter, and molasses. But I have yet to try a cookie I DON'T like. I have tried a pumpkin cupcake with maple frosting as well, and despite not being a cupcake person I really liked it! Very dense, which is how I like my cupcakes. I also got a bunch of cupcakes for my visiting friend's birthday. She is a cupcake snob, and really liked these as well (although she felt they could use a bit less frosting). As other reviewers have mentioned, there is not a HUGE selection, but it is not an enormous bakery. If you want great fresh cookies and cupcakes, I highly recommend it. They also do very nice looking wedding and birthday stuff, which you can find photos of on their Facebook page. The owners are awesome and incredibly friendly, and I always feel very welcome.
