I loved visiting Goodman Bakes. The coziest bakery on East Avenue. The door handle caught my attention right away, as it's a rolling pin! The atmosphere inside continues with the whimsy as you will see so many gorgeous baked goods on display. The staff were friendly and I enjoyed chatting with them during my visits. I loved the amount of options available. I got a potato knish and chocolate croissant. Both were incredibly delicious! The pastry was so flaky and buttery. Goodman Bakes is the kind of place that makes you want to try everything. The offerings are just so enticing! I thought the prices were fair with each item I purchased being in the 6 dollar range. The shop offers outside seating with picnic tables in front.

Good things truly come to those who wait... having googled bakeries near us while recently visiting Rochester, this one had just opened for the day so we decided to take a shot in the dark and pop in. Best. Decision. Ever. We were greeted with the warm smells of freshly baked goods that lined the walls. After mulling over which of the many options ahead of us, we went home with a few goodies. My personal favorite was the pastellito filled with guava & cheese; a popular Latino pastry. My heart soared when it dawned on me that this bakery was owned by a fellow Latino! He's curated a beautiful bakery that I cannot wait to return to.

Holy Moses! I had no idea what Chocolate Focaccia was going to be like but it's amazing! It's like the opposite of a flourless cake/brownie. It's light and focaccia- like. LOVED IT!

I was able to snag a grab bag from Goodman Bakes & went to pick it up at the 12-1 pm time slot. They changed the pick-up time from 1-2pm last-minute which was a little annoying as it meant I needed to change plans to get there on-time. It was very quick and easy to get my bag, but you must go right when the window opens so they do not run out. It's a small shop and there are tables outside where you can eat your goods. The bag was hefty - 4 pastries inside! I believe what I got was a berry scone/biscuit, granola scone, kouign-amann, and a croissant. I also got one of the Easter specials, the Créme Brûlée brioche with strawberry filling. I think the croissant must have been a cookie croissant or something similar as there were crunchy biscuit bits in between two croissant layers (update: I believe it was the Twice-Baked Croissant!). It was also very crunchy/crispy, which was a bit unexpected yet delicious. My favorites were probably the granola scone and the kouign-amann. I honestly found that I liked everything *but* the special, which was a little surprising as that was the most recently baked. The caramelized sugar didn't really meld well with the texture of the bread for me and I didn't feel that the filling quite matched the topping. The strawberry flavoring was also kind of artificial. However, the bread and lamination in all the baked goods were very professional, and it was definitely high-quality. I will have to come back one day to try more of the freshly-baked pastries. I definitely recommend trying this bakery!

I went to the Goodman Bakery on East Avenue in Rochester,NY. This bakery was referred by a friend. It is the cutest place! Gabby was so nice and very knowledgeable about the bakery items. I got a blueberry pie, a slice of the Strawberry Custard Cake, the Brioche pistachio and whipped cream-filled roll (a little heavy on the honemade whipped cream), and 2 pieces of the spinach and cheese-filled croissant. All were very delicious! I even sampled a scallion and cheese bread that was really nice. They have an assortment of breads, cookies as well. There's also a little seating area in front of the bakery. I highly recommend!

The maritozzi I spotted in a picture as part of a google review are the reason I drove 60 miles to try these delicious baked goods! Quality and presentation are top notch. Everything is fresh and the selection is great. Many sweet and some savory options... my favorite, aside from the Maritozzo, was the apricot bear claw... incredibly flaky dough with just the right amount of filling. I must also mention the pain au chocolate with had an additional stick of chocolate in it... nice surprise! Loved the vibes of the establishment too... right in downtown Rochester. Well done, I will definitely be back!

We were just walking by on a Saturday morning and decided to walk into this place. Somehow, never observed it here at East Ave. We bought a potato pie, which was served with a very small side of coleslaw. Pros: Super friendly staff. Very patiently answered all our questions. Lots of baked options, both savory and sweet. Clean and classy interiors. Cons: No seating inside. We were asked to heat up the pie at home in the oven as it was super cold. While the pie tasted decent, it was quite overpriced at $10 for a pretty small slice. However, will try this place out once again for their sweet dishes.

I am glad I got to FINALLY got to visit this jewel box of a store. I found out about this spot from Naz and her Table For Naz Instagram and she writes for 585 Magazine. Many thanks to her! I thought I would go in and try a few treats. The inside is basically a come in and get your treats and go. It's light and bright and has some nice floral print by Andy Warhol and some Jean Cocteau plates and a lovely display of pies and of course the counter with treats. When I came in a woman was making an order for pick up I believe for the upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend. So I got to look at the counter and the menu. I will be back to pick up that Spicy Chicken Katsu Sandwich. So what did I get...I got a piece of plum cake it was perfect nice juicy yet slightly caramelized plums and the actual cake was not too sweet. A few scone one that was Cherry Almond and Ham & Cheese. Both were quite tasty and the right amount of savory (ham and cheese) and lightly sweet the Cherry Almond. I warmed them up prior to eating them and we enjoyed them. The one thing I really came in for is what I saw on there Insta was the Spinach Artichoke And Lemon Quiche. This was really something special large pieces of artichoke, tasty spinach and a light touch of lemon really made this decadent quiche sing. I also warmed it up and it came with a small side of a lightly dressed cabbage and carrot slaw. Staff is friendly, pleasant and helpful. They do seasonal treats which I appreciate and it's the right way to go so you can enjoy the bounty of the seasons. Will I be back of course. Parking is basically street or wherever. Also the store is a slight walk up so..

I love a good pastry, so I was very excited to try Goodman Bakes. It did not disappoint. The shop is very cute and has outdoor seating. The man who helped me was very friendly and patient with me as I picked out many different things. Everything was delicious. I will absolutely be going back and would recommend stopping in!

Yes, this is clearly a "grab and go" establishment. Yes, items lean toward pricier, but what doesn't? You could walk right past Goodman Bakes on a sunny day, but I know I'll remember to stop in from time to time. Goodman Bakes describes itself as a "micro bakery", and you can tell right away when you step inside and see the small storefront. This is a "grab and go" location for sure. I can see this being the type of place where you grab a treat and hang out on a bench outside somewhere, with the sun shining. My visit was on a typical rainy, gross day, but that didn't stop me. It was probably a good thing that the selection was small, I wasn't overwhelmed by too many choices like I frequently am. I got three cookies to try, a cinnamon swirl type cookie, a chocolate chip cookie where you could sense the crunch of corn flakes, and the winner and most intriguing, the salt and vinegar cookie. Say what? That's right, salt and vinegar in a sugar cookie and it totally works. You couldn't really taste the vinegar per se until close to the end of the cookie, but I'd definitely get this one again. My friend got a kouign amann (which my spellcheck hates) that I had a bite of and I can support that as well, just the right amount of flaky and sweet. I'm looking forward to trying more items at Goodman Bakes in the future. The staff were welcoming and helpful and didn't roll their eyes when neither of us knew how to pronounce kouign amann. The website says "we enjoy talking to people" and that's definitely true. Great customer service makes all the difference sometimes, doesn't it?

Cute little bakery in downtown Rochester. Super clean and modern. There are no seating available and there are steps to go in so not stroller or handicap friendly. I do not like that the items have absolutely no labels and no price. The people are very friendly and answered all of questions. But being an introvert, I don't want to ask what this and this is etc. I got slice of red velvet and carrot cake. Very generous portions. But they are $7 each. A tad bit overpriced for Rochester standards. They were both extremely sweet. A lot sweeter than wegmans cakes. They were so sweet I couldn't even finish it and only took a few bites. I wanted to love this place but maybe I ordered the wrong items.

Croissant minus one bite because I just could not wait.

This bakery is fantastic. The employees were all very helpful in guiding us to some beautiful and delicious pastries. We had a croissant filled with lemon custard, a savory scone, and a sweet roll--we loved them all. Not pictured is the also delicious and perfectly tart key lime pie. We will certainly return.

    Very dense not fresh

Was not fresh when we arrived at 830 in the morning, cannoli filling wasn't very good didn't taste like real cannoli filling, was pretty expensive for not a fresh pastry and we bought a few different one

    Tiramisu cake.

If you are looking for a treat, yes , this place is great. Service yes, ambiance no. My comment to…read morethe owner was they went to small. However, the food the menu the coffee, yes. Expect a wait or go early.

We went to Locals Only for brunch/lunch after a wedding, meeting friends one last time before…read moreeveryone headed back to our own cities. Unfortunately, it turned into one of the worst restaurant experiences. We spent 2.5 hours total at the restaurant. After waiting an excessive amount of time, we watched two tables that arrived at least an hour after us receive their food first. When we politely asked if our ticket might have been missed, we were told those tables ordered before us, which simply wasn't true. We were then told the delay was because burgers take a long time but a nearly two-hour wait for a burger is pretty wild. It took about 25 minutes just for someone to take our drink order, and we were never asked if we wanted additional drinks. We had to flag staff down for everything. No ketchup, no hot sauce, nothing offered. The $30 mimosa flight served in tiny glasses also felt like a complete scam. When the food finally came, two people in our party were served 15-20 minutes before the other two, and the food was cold. One dish had completely raw eggs. When I let the server know I couldn't eat it, she came back and removed the meal from the bill, which was appreciated. However, the interaction itself felt tense and dismissive, which made an already frustrating experience worse. They did give us a round of breakfast shots to try to help pass the time which was appreciated. The food itself was disappointing overall. The breakfast burrito was basically all eggs with raw, bitter avocado, and my husband's burger was missing requested toppings. We also noticed food sitting in the service window while we continued waiting. The only person who was happy with their meal got the biggie fries an it was hot when it arrived. To make matters worse, the bathroom was unheated on an 18° day (feels like 2°) and not clean. We're a pretty chill, patient group and understand that kitchens get backed up but man, this experience completely missed the mark. Ironically, the cooks thanked us for our patience and servers said goodbye pleasantly on the way out. We honestly may have let a lot of this go if the service hadn't felt so dismissive when we calmly raised concerns.
