I had heard a lot of good things about this bakery locally, so I decided to order some pastries from it. I can't say what the atmosphere was like. I got the pasticiotti, sfogliatelle, pastelillo, and Napoleon. They were packed perfectly and neatly. My favorite was probably the pastelillo - it was small, flaky and had a nice guava filling. I liked the sfogliatelle and the pasticiotti, but the custard ended up being quite heavy. The Napoleon was not my preference at all. It was sickly sweet and the pastry was soggy; I honestly could not finish it, which is rare. Overall, I would recommend the pastelillo and maybe the sfogliatelle.

Various Italian Cookies for the free birthday special

Italian bakeries have a very special place in my heart, so when I found this bakery in Rochester I was so happy! They have so many different cookies, cakes, and pastries. Everything was delicious. We got the Bavarian Apple Torte as a birthday cake, and it was amazing-- absolutely recommend. They also had a special deal for birthdays where you can get 1/2 pound of cookies free.

There are other Italian bakeries in town, but Savoia is probably my favorite. My wife recently had a baby shower and ordered a two-tier cake from Savoia. We were really impressed with cake. We picked a custard and jam filling for each layer. It was delicious and also reasonably priced. My wife was quoted much higher prices from other bakeries. The other pastries are also delicious. This includes the sfogliatella and cookies. The service is also good. They gave us the wrong plate of desserts for the shower, so they actually sent a driver to drop off the correct plate at the venue and even told us we could keep the wrong plate if we wanted. Anyways, Savoia is a gem of an Italian bakery that everyone in Rochester should know about.

Italian cookies by the pound. So soft and delicious

There literally are NO Italian bakeries like this place down south. Came here to get a cookie platter for a dental office and of course had to pick up a 1lb of Italian cookies for us to enjoy as well. So amazing. Not sure how much this place was years ago when we lived here but price seemed a bit steep but the quality is good. Want to say the Italian cookies were $11.50/lb. the 2lb wrapped cookie tray was $30

Bread pudding.

I just love Savoia for desserts! I recently went and got the bread pudding, which my husband loves, and he's a picky eater! I also got the spinach and ricotta pastry, which are hard to find, but the pastry was nice and flaky, and the spinach filling was delicious. I also got two cake slices. One was an almond cake with almond and pecan filling with a chocolate drizzle. It was super moist, and that filling was very tasty! I got the coconut cake, which I always have and love, but this day, the slice was dry and day-oldish. I was disappointed with that. Other than that minor point, I love this bakery and will continue to be a customer!!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake - absolutely amazing
Marissa P.

I needed a cake for my husband's birthday and found Savoia, and I am SO glad I did!! I ended up getting a chocolate peanut butter cake, and it was honestly one of the best cakes I have had! They also had a great assortment of other pastries and cookies. I stopped by after work, close to their closing time, but had no problem getting a cake, and thank goodness for that since I did not plan ahead .. whoops! But if you're better than I am at planning, you can order ahead from Savoia on their website too!! My only complaint is that I wish they stayed open a bit later! They're only open until 5:30 during the week, which makes it a bit difficult to pick something up on your way home from work..but that won't stop me from coming back!

Amazing pastry and great service. Worth the trip! I'm new to Rochester and have been meaning to get over here. Really glad I did.

The atmosphere inside continues with the whimsy as you will see so many gorgeous baked goods on display. The staff were friendly and I enjoyed chatting with them during my visits. I loved the amount of options available. I got a potato knish and chocolate croissant. Both were incredibly delicious! The pastry was so flaky and buttery. Goodman Bakes is the kind of place that makes you want to try everything. The offerings are just so enticing! I thought the prices were fair with each item I purchased being in the 6 dollar range. The shop offers outside seating with picnic tables in front.

While the filling was delicious, I felt like the pastry itself was a little dry and could've used more filling. There were gaps in the middle that did not have any filling. The pastry itself was also quite expensive for what it was - it ended up being $7. The person who was at the counter was very willing to answer any questions but I think it would also be helpful to have descriptions (for some of the more uncommon pastries) and prices listed with the pastries.

But it doesn't mean I left empty handed! The display was so beautiful and there were a ton of Asian-inspired flavors, I bought a lot and STILL want to go back to try the other pastries! All the pastries were beautifully made, and not too sweet (the pinnacle of Asian parent compliments when it comes to sweets LOL) Jasmine and pear scone: fruity, a touch of florals at the end, and very moreish. I was supposed save half for another day...let's just say that didn't happen. Lemongrass panna cotta: very light panna cotta with a layer of coconut, ginger, and lime zest encased in lemongrass jelly. The flavors are very earthy and work well together Mango sticky rice pie: I loved the crust on their pies, it's just the right thickness and the crimping is super satisfying to look at. Again, not too sweet, with a rice-based whipped topping . I kind of wish the mango flavor was a little stronger, but it feels like the flavors are naturally achieved rather than with artificial flavoring so I can't complain. Love love love, can't wait to come back and see what else they have in store!

Both flavors were incredible: super creamy and rich. My friend got chocolate almond fudge, and that was just as good. We also grabbed some baked treats to go (brownie, whoopie pie, and muffins), and everything tasted amazing. Other than sweet treats, they also have coffees and teas on their menu, and a bunch of different dairy products. It feels cozy, local, and authentic - like everything is fresh or straight from the farm. It's actually part of a long-standing local farm operation, which makes the experience feel even more genuine. I also loved that they support other local businesses and sell products from them, it adds to that community feel. Overall, this place is more than just an ice cream stop, it's a whole experience.
