So normally for the holidays I go with Jackson's bakery but I waited too long to order and they weren't taking any additional orders for Christmas. I called this bakery unfortunately their policy seems to be that no one e answers the phone but there was a recording. Basically the recording said they weren't taking orders over the phone. You can show up and you get what you get. So the recording said that they would be open at 9:30 Christmas Eve Morning. I showed up at 9:00 to make sure that I was there before a big line formed only to find that they actually opened up at 8:30 with no exclamation why so there was a line, fortunately that early it was short. Just keep in mind that apparently their posted hours don't really mean anything as far as when they're actually open. Secondly, they only take cash so just keep that in mind. Thirdly, I ordered $27 worth of food but they charged me $35. It was a line out the door so I didn't stop to say anything and I kind of did the math as I was leaving cuz it seemed like the wrong amount and confirmed that it was at a later point. So make sure you're counting your money. I don't know if the cashier was skimming off the top or bad at math. I can't say what they did with the extra eight bucks they took from me but be aware of what your items add up to. So how was the food?? The Danish was not good. It wasn't bad but it was not good. They put way too much frosting on it which was way too sweet. The filling was also very inconsistent. Some pieces had none, other pieces had it in multiple layers. You didn't know what you were going to get. The filling itself I was not a huge fan of as well. I'd take an Entimens(sp?) first any day. I also was there to get dinner rolls and again there was a line so I was trying to be as quick as I could. I did not see any dinner rolls. None of the listed options included dinner rolls. They had hard rolls and soft rolls so I got soft rolls. They were pretty good although way too big to be dinner rolls. Lastly, I got a couple of cannolis, even 4 days later when my wife had failed to eat the cannoli I bought her so I decided I was going to have it it was still in great shape. Still a crunchy shell and the filling was good so the cannolis are solid! Not a really great review And it's kind of disappointing because I love bakeries and wish we had a great one that was reliable. For now I'll keep going to Greece to go to Jacksona. read more

Greatest bakery around. Tremendous family. Incredible and kind people. Very welcoming and friendly every time you see them. They have the best bread-possibly the best in the nation. I truly mean that, I've been around and none compare. They also have all sorts of other goods, all of which are top notch. Every Christmas Eve my family gets the bread for our gathering there. We've been having that tradition for over 40 years. It's one of the highlights for everyone in our family. Dv bread and Triano sausage, can't beat it. Life without this family and their bakery would not be the same without their bread. They are a true staple in our family gatherings. We are blessed to have this business and family in our community. I'm not sure what to think after my first visit to DiVincenzo's. The door was wide open and flies were landing on the bread that I intended on buying. I ended up with a few desserts from the case and some bagged rolls instead, but I couldn't stop thinking about those flies and I was eating my sandwich on the fresh squishy roll. The cannolis were tasty, very crisp fresh shell, most cannoli shells are soft by the time I get to them so that was nice. I've had better eclairs. I might try to go again in the winter when the door is sure to be closed, people rave about their bread. read more

I hesitate to review... because I like this place so much. It's not that the bread is terrific - it is. I mostly buy loaves but am kind of partial personally to the rolls. Their baked goods are terrific, and their cannolis are comparable to another place in Gates. I don't think I buy eclairs anywhere else. The people there are so friendly. Great down to earth people who I cannot say such good things about. That's why I hesitate to review. Don't want more people showing up and buying all the bread out (which happens around the holidays - particularly before Christmas)! This bakery has been around for decades. My family has Vern going there since it was on Central Park. They bake the bread fresh many times a day. Often when you get there you will get still warm bread. The cookies are good and the over filled eclairs are to die for. read more

There "Boston creme pie" is to die for, and I find myself coming here again and again for it's There bread is delicious, and I love that they are located so close to me here in Irondequoit. I must admit I didn't try the bread (seemed out of French, and Italian and St Josephs looked too squishy), but the cannoli was quite good. Nice crispy shell and the filling wasn't too creamy. Not quite the best I've had ever compared to Cleveland or Pittsburgh, but might be the best in Rochester---definitely better than Rubino's, fresher and crispier. read more

Went there Sunday morning to pick up a loaf of Italian bread--like the rest of Rochester--the place was packed! Luckily, I got the last loaf of Italian bread--there were a lot of French breads left. This bakery has been a part of my family for years. I mean YEARS. I am 29 and have been enjoying french bread from DV since I was a toddler. It is - in my book - the best french bread ever. Especially for the price! $2.50 a loaf! And we CANNOT forget the cookies. They are big, delicious and 75 cents each! My favs are the choc chip and choc chip with walnuts. Their Bread Is Simply Outstanding!!!! Doesn't matter what kind you buy! Their Famous French is perfectly made every time, and I've been buying it for over 35 years now. The sandwich sized soft rolls are a show stopper!!! Those rolls alone can put anyone around out of business! Their Italian Lemon Cookies are the Best By Far!!! Moist, Chewy, and perfectly lemony, a real treat! Fallowed by the fruit and nut, but sadly both cookies seem to be hit or miss, not in taste, but just if you go. Wish it was more consistent. Anyway their ECLAIRS Are To Die For!!!!!!! A Real GEM!!! By far the best Eclairs I've ever had in my entire lifetime!! So plump with creamy custard filling, and topped with the best chocolate icing... Delicious! Their Boston Cream Pie comes in as my Favorite, fallowed by the Lemon Meringue Pie. Prices are very fair and affordable for anyone. I Hope the next generation of the family have interest in the family business? Best French bread in town. Their Italian and French breads are made with the same dough. I use it for making sandwiches... it makes for a good Cuban. I prefer to get a loaf of bread later in the day as they sit in the baking pans longer and have a better crunch to them. The day olds are good for garlic bread and toast. read more

We have always got our French bread at DiVincenzo bakery ever since we were growing up! Best French bread I have ever had!

Really like this place, the store front is simple and small, but I assume that's because they put all their effort into baking delicious stuff. The rolls are amazingly soft, and very tasty, however they pale in comparison to the garlic bread. My son loves the cookies (granted he's 3). The pies are the only weak point, the Boston cream was excellent, however we got a cherry pie that was just ok. They have a French bread pizza I really want to try, but it is rarely there. The prices are great, and every thing has been good. They may not have best selection, but a great place I visit often. read more

I've lived in Rochester all my life. I'm 47 yrs. old and remember when I was growing up my father and I used to go to J & D bakery to buy french bread for Sunday sauce. We would get 2 loafs. One for home and he other to eat in the car on the way home. The bread was always so hot and delicious you didn't even need butter. DV bakery as we call it, is the best bakery I have ever been to. The bread is phenomenal, and the Cannolis and eclairs are to die for!!! I moved to Florida and they do not even have bakeries here. They call Publix (the big grocery store) a bakery, not even close. Here in Florida they don't even have vanilla or chocolate filled cannolis, just cheese and those are terrible. Every time I am back in Rochester one of the first places I go is back to Divincenzos Bakery. I always get frozen cannolis to smuggle back on the plane to Florida lol. read more
