My family and I stopped in for some cupcakes for a treat after lunch! The inside was super cute with a few places to sit and the people workin were all super friendly and patient as we picked out flavors. We grabbed three flavors of their cupcakes. The Mama Bear which is, Chocolate cake topped with cream cheese frosting, garnished with a raspberry. The Chocolate Peanut Butter Bliss which is, Chocolate cake baked with a peanut butter cup, topped with peanut butter frosting, garnished with a peanut butter cup. And lastly, I got their flavor of the month cherry almond which I could not find the full description for. All of the cupcakes were to die for, but my favorite was hands down their cherry almond. So moist, sweet, and the frosting on top was light and perfect. We will definitely be coming back for more treats soon. read more

Wonderful place!! I crave it all the time... Stopped in on my lunch break to a surprise: they redid the inside! It feels much more spacious. There's more room for all the treats to be displayed as well (I included a picture). I do not know her name, but every time I have gone in, there is one woman who always gets my cupcakes for me. She is very friendly! Thank you to her. And also, thanks for my cupcakes! About those.. They're just perfect. They don't pile frosting on top of them like some places do. Cute little shop dedicated to CUP CAKES!!!! There were about 6 flavors to choose from. I was hoping for a cannoli cup cake but it was not on the daily offerings. I ended up with the vanilla cupcake. Frosting was great, but I found the cake part to be kinda dense and flavorless. (SORRY DOLCE) I also had the a sample of their chocolate and that was tasty for sure! Overall the shop was cute (but the base boards could use a dusting), the frosting was great, the service was kind and helpful and the parking lot is one way only. read more

OOOOH WOWZA! Paid a visit to Dolce Cupcakery yesterday for the first time in a long while. The space is beautifully situated on the canal at Schoen place, with a cute outdoor patio and well appointed interior. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the spread of a wide variety of cupcakes - SUPER tempting. This is a woman-owned business and cupcakes are baked fresh every day. They cater events and do a stunning pull apart cupcake wedding cake (or wreath or really whatever else you can think of.) They also serve coffee drinks, cake pops, and truffles - in addition to a few other goodies. Now let's move onto the most important reason for 5 star review: these are the best freakin' cupcakes I have EVER. HAD. I am for real! I left with the apple fritter (cupcake of the month!) and the eclair cupcake and both of them blew my sweets-loving mind. The apple cupcake was made from Schutts apples and has the most amazing crumble on top. The frosting is a spiced varietal that was just next level. I am a frosting gal (especially when the frosting is realllllly fresh and good) and dolce delivered with a light/tasty but sizeable frosting *poof* on both treats I tried. I stopped in for a cupcake during the Pittsford Candle Light Night festivities and tried the red velvet cupcake in a cup. The cream cheese frosting was delicious and the entire cake and frosting combo was very rich. The cake was a little dry, but the amount of frosting made up for it and balanced it out. They had a few other cupcakes available to try, but I assume because it was later at night during a busy festival that they were starting to sell out. I am definitely interested in going back during the day to try other flavors. The interior of the shop is really cute, with the cupcakes displayed on a counter and a few big chairs to sit in. What a cute bakery! Dolce Cupcakery is located in a hidden plaza and you probably wouldn't know about it unless you frequent the Pittsford area often. I didn't eat it until the late hours of the night but the cupcake held up really well. The frosting is harder than I expected when I took a bite but somehow the cream still stayed really smooth and melts in your mouth. The cake itself was infused with dripping caramel and you can tell it's a pretty dense cake as you peel off the cupcake lining. My husband and I recently paid a visit and opted for several flavors to go. Cookies & Cream, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Cannoli, Strawberry Vanilla and Pumpkin Spice Caramel were calling our names. All were delicious but chocolate peanut butter and pumpkin spice really wowed me. Icing was light and airy and perfectly complimented the moist, delicious cake. Cookies & Cream and strawberry vanilla were close second place. Cookies & Cream was a great take on a traditional flavor (love the chocolate cake), while strawberry vanilla was most surprising. It tasted like a delicious muffin with strawberries throughout, however I didn't care for the icing as much. My husband loved the cannoli, but I was not a fan. The shop is tucked back behind Label 7 in Schoen Place, but it was easy to find thanks to a logo-ed sandwich board in front of the entrance to the back area. The shop is also easily spotted once you are on that little road. My kids each ordered a cake pop, and despite getting them to-go, they ended eating them inside because they wanted to sit at one of the cute café tables. There was ample seating (both table and comfy) and it was warm and cozy inside. The Red Velvet cupcake I had was delicious and not too sweet, which I appreciated since I ate it before lunch. Dolls Cupcakery is a rival place just down the street that makes Cupcakes that look like Barbies. They taste a little plastic but maybe you're into that. However Dolce is one of the more popular cupcake spots in town, so I stopped here with my friend who is obsessed with both Cupcakes and with Cannoli, and we shared a "Cannoli Cream Cupcake." Neither one of us was at all impressed. It was overly sweet, and not particularly nommable. We didn't even finish it, despite the fact that we were splitting it. Went for the first time today. The service was amazing and it was easy to get in and out. Tried the cannoli cupcake as well the peanut butter cupcake--both were spot on. Having the cannoli cupcake gave us the chance to also get a small taste of the cannolis as a small one is the garnish on the cupcake, which didn't disappoint at all. The only thing that holds me back from a 5-star rating was the price. Other bakeries in the area will give you more for the same price either in terms of size or elaborate flavors. Don't get me wrong, there is certainly value at Dolce as they seem to deliver on quality. I'll definitely be stopping back whenever I make my way to Pittsford again. Good stuff! read more

Stopped in as part of the elite event to get my free cupcake, but also bought another and tried a truffle while I was there. The lady was nice and helped me quickly. I think the truffle was called a buttercup and while I don't know exactly what that means, it was delicious. As for cupcakes, I was a little bit disappointed in the flavor selection. A few basics (vanilla, chocolate, peanut butter, red velvet) and then toffee caramel something and cannoli. I ended up with two cannoli, and while not the best cupcake I've ever had, they were pretty good. The cake itself reminded me more of a muffin and was slightly dry around the edges, but the flavor was good as was the filling and frosting. I was most impressed that the cannoli shell sitting atop the frosting was not soggy, so there. Don't even know how that's possible, so it was very exciting. I am SHOCKED that Dolce has two locations in Rochester. It totally blows my mind, as I do not see how they could find funding for it when the product they make is so abysmal. Also, because they put SO MUCH FROSTING on each cake, it makes every cupcake 100% inedible. It's as if they don't even taste the finish product. One time I went I tried four different cupcake flavors to see how they would go down - Oreo, Apple Spice, Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Chocolate Mint. Outside of the Apple Spice cake, I was searching for something that would taste like the flavor they advertised. I got an assortment and thought the cake quality itself was better with the chocolate cake based cupcakes, if that makes sense. They make almost 50 flavors of cupcakes (all available for advanced orders) and they offer 8-10 flavors in the store each day. The "Daily Five" are Signature Vanilla, Signature Chocolate, Momma Bear, Chocolate Peanut Butter Bliss, and Cookies and Cream - which they have every day. The other in-store flavors vary and are posted on their facebook page every morning. The custom decorating they do is amazing - I did a jumbo cupcake with Yoda on it for my boyfriend's birthday and he LOVED it! Hard to pick just one favorite flavor but a few of mine are Pucker Up, French Toast, Chocolate Raspberry, Coconut and Chocolate Peanut Butter Bliss. I went in not too long ago, a week or so maybe, and the cupcakes were incredibly dry and boring flavor wise. Several other reviewers have suggested it, but I could really only agree when I went in more recently. Even though the product has always been a bit average in my opinion, the price and service made it worth it even though the frosting had a bit of a greasy taste sometimes. I have been in the past, about a year or so ago, and loved it (more than Wegman's anyway), but they're under new ownership and I think it shows. I called to place an order for a party my sister was throwing before I went in a few weeks ago, and I got left on hold for so long that I finally had to hang up. When I went in I had a coffee related cupcake and it had a horrible aftertaste that was so disappointing. The cupcakes themselves are one thing, but the woman who I can only assume was the owner was at a table in the middle of the shop with payroll spread all over in the most unprofessional fashion and completely ignored me when I came in before someone from the back came out to help me. As much as I love cupcakes at such an affordable price, I'll be giving my business to Sugar Mountain (I'm so sad that Dollop closed) even though they cost a bit more. They do not freeze them into bricks like every other place in the town, including the Village Bakery. Given the bar is set so low, the easily cross it. I do love me some cupcakes, and therefore have tried many cupcakes at many locations. I tried two different cupcakes at Dolce. I just read a few of the other reviews and they are all over the map. I will say that the cupcakes are not horrible and I don't think that there is too much frosting. But that said, I am not impressed either. The cake portion is oily and tastes like a boxed commercial cake mix. Cheap. The frosting was not too bad, but had a somewhat artificial taste about it. I really can't believe that they get away with charging $3.25 per cupcake. I was previously living in San Francisco and had cupcakes at Kara's Cupcakes, which used primarily local and organic ingredients, and the quality and taste easily surpassed this place's cupcakes. Guess what they charged? $3.25. A larger and more expensive city, and much better all around cupcake for the same price. Enough said. That said, I haven't had a better store bought cupcake than Kara's...yet. read more

I have to say, I'm honestly shocked by the positive reviews on here. These are some of the worst cupcakes I've had. The cake was very dry and flavorless, not unlike cornbread in texture. The vanilla frosting had little flavor and almost tasted like straight butter or Crisco. On top of the less-than-stellar cupcakes, the service was terrible. The woman working at the counter was incredibly stuck up and rude. For the same price, you can get some fantastic, delicious cupcakes in major cities (ie. Georgetown Cupcake, Curbside Cupcakes). To ask $3 in Rochester for something Wegmans or even Tops does better, is absurd. I will not be going back. read more
