This location is a nusicance to the surrounding area. They do not respect the residential neighborhood around their shop. They park their damaged vehicles all around the neighborhood for days / weeks at a time. All of their vehicles are meant to be contained within their property. Know that when you take your car here, it is likely sitting on a residential neighborhood street in the open and causing disruption to the surrounding neighborhood. After talking to management about issues of blocking the sidewalk repeatedly, making it inaccessible to pedestrians, they were immediately combatative. Please do not support this business. read more

They will up charge the insurance including parts and labor but won't take the time to fully repair the damages to your vehicle let alone go above and beyond for their customer. I had a very frustrating experience with my car repair. Peyton, the estimator, had initially told me my car would be ready by January 3rd. However, just two hours before I was supposed to pick it up, she called to inform me that the last part needed to be painted because it came in unpainted. She assured me that it would be ready by Monday morning after the paint had dried over the weekend. When I called Monday morning for an update, Peyton said she would check on the status. Two hours later, she called back to say there was another broken part, which also arrived unpainted, meaning it had to be painted as well. This was incredibly frustrating, as she had previously assured me there was only one part left to fix. To make matters worse, she mentioned that they were "trying their best" to finish the car that day, but it might not be ready until the next day. She also mentioned that "we have more cars than we're supposed to have in the shop," implying that the delays were somehow my fault due to their overbooking. Overall, the lack of communication and multiple delays have been extremely disappointing. I'd also like to add that Peyton called me Tuesday morning, four days after the job was supposed to be finished. She told me my vehicle was done and was being cleaned, and that it would be ready for pick-up around 12pm. I explained to Peyton that I couldn't pick it up because I'd be at work, but my husband would be there at 3pm. When my husband arrived and payed the deductible, he went to our car and found out that a part was still missing and hadn't been installed, so he had to wait for it to be put on. This has been the worst experience ever! read more

This is the place to go! My insurance company recommended them so i could get a dent fixed and when I called they said they would be able to fit me in, as soon as the next day! Which was really nice because car repair places have been really backed up and i wouldve had to wait months otherwise. They fixed my car quickly and my car looked amazing after- good as new. CLOSED? Safeco lists this business as being part of their Guaranteed Repair Network. They are also close to where I live so I keep trying to reach them. 5 calls over the past week and half. All calls go to a national call center, then are put on hold, then go to voicemail. No one has called me back. This business is either closed or too overwhelmed to take on new customers. I've used Gerber twice now. The first time they fixed the issue no problem but there was a very obvious brand new scratch that they denied responsibility for. The scratch was so new that the paint was still attached to car. The second visit was a referral from an insurance agency wanting me to use them. It was a minor repair but somebody else's fault. Even though I was referred to them through insurance they refused to do the work, saying "we can't get the parts". What BS I bought factory parts at Oreillys the next day. They simply couldn't be bothered but wouldn't own it. Losers. read more

Fraudulent Behavior. Beware of the dishonest business practices that you will experience if you take your car to this location of Gerber collision and glass. The person who calls them self the general manager flat out lies to people. I have been in the office on three separate occasions when he has been on the phone with other people, lied to them, and then admitted he was lying and laughed about it with other employees after he got off the phone. From their own mouths "who cares it's the insurance company's money" ... so they know what they are doing is dishonest they know they are committing insurance fraud and they just don't care. Steer clear. They do a shotty job, they can't stay organized, they have caller ID so once they know your number they will refuse to pick up, both are financial estimates and their timelines are completely unrealistic and they will go way over on both. But like I said they don't care because in their own words " Who cares it's the insurance company's money" After I picked up my car two weeks later than they said it would be. The work that they had supposedly done to factory standards was so subpar that I had to take it to another auto body shop to re-fix their fix. My insurance company is now going after them for the cost to re-fix what they had supposedly fixed to begin with and charged for. Unacceptable. Not worth the headache. I was told that the cooperate decision only allowed insurance claims to be allow. Even though I have been a customer for 46 years they still will not allow me to pay and process without an insurance claim. They were a bit booked up when I needed repairs during the holidays but thats understandably. When I finally got my care in the shop it took about two weeks for repairs just about 3 days over what they said it would take. They kept me very up tpo date on my cares status via text massage. the work that they did on my car was very good . Better then I thought it would look like. Respired my front passenger door and window. had a car break in. Some one throw a bolder dented the door many times and shattered the window. They door looked brand new. Even buffed out some of the older small scratched on the door. and the window worked perfect. unlike my other window that I had repaired by another shop that squeaks when I use. it good place. go here. read more

I had my car vandalized (keyed through the door all the way to the rear 1/4-panel) and my insurance company (State Farm) took me to Fix Auto Metro as their preferred vendor. They are located close to where I live on Capitol Hill so that worked out well. The estimate and repair process were straight forward. Gina, whom I worked with, was very professional over phone and email and kept me updated throughout the process. The work itself was well done and no complaints here. I also had some post-repair issues and the manager Noel sorted things out fairly. No harm no foul here. Only reason for 4-star is that when I picked up my car after hours, my car key was left in an unsecure fashion. Won't go into too much details here but they might benefit from something like a combination key box for after hour pickups. read more

I am currently in the waiting room nearly 15 mins past my appointment time and after filling out the paperwork for my estimate, been ignored. The fact I had to even schedule an appointment for an estimate surprised me, but even more frustrating nobody can even keep to this time. My estimator finally came out of her office after I said something to the front counter lady, who heard me ask since her office was right next to the waiting area. I only came here because Pemco recommended them and definitely will never let them touch my car if this is how they respect potential customers time., esp after reading other reviews. Update: ended up taking 35 mins to mins to quote me a $1k job that someone hit my parked car replacing 3front bumper pieces. The estimator called me outside after we were done and said she 'wanted to talk about my yelp review'. So I reiterated everything I said here and she used 'reviewing the information from Pemco' as the excuse why it took her 15 mins to start my claim. And apparently reading yelp reviews while working claims too, without a regard for the customers time. This is my 3rd claim on this work and it took 3x as long as the others. read more

Gerber was fantastic in repairing our car after a run in with a deer. John was on it and answered the phone every time we called and would send text updates on the process. Due to pandemic, parts were slow and hard to come by but he kept us informed. I never felt like they didn't know who we were or why we were calling. I had complete confidence in them and the job they were doing. John offered to do a clean up/buff of the rest of the car for free. When I picked the car up he had forgotten his offer. Told me to call and arrange to come by at our convenience and they would do it. My husband called a couple of weeks later. Brought the car in and they spent a good 45 minutes cleaning it up. Me: Hey, [briefly explains situation and damage]. When is the earliest availability you have to have something like that fixed? Person on the phone: March. Me: Is there any way you could do something sooner, since it's such a small job? Person on phone: Absolutely not. Me: Okay, well thanks for your help! Have a great day. Person on phone: *click, hangs up* No "Bye". No "Sorry we can't help any sooner". Not even a "call us back if you'd like to get something scheduled!" This was just rudeness in response to my friendly tone and reasonable questions. Pro-tip: don't be rude to your customers, especially not ones with no history of being rude to you. The work they do is very good, but they didn't do a lot of it for me. I asked for a quote for a new hood and work on my front quarter panel. I received a bid that I thought would be acceptable, and a month or so later I brought the car in for work. I picked the car up, and the quarter panel was not repaired at all- BUT they painted the crumpled metal and restriped it. What. The. Fuck. I asked the man who gave me the estimate why on earth someone would have a crunched up car restriped, and he said, "You'd be surprised what people ask for!" I told him that I'd be more than surprised if someone asked for this, I'd be fucking stunned. I didn't have the old estimate paper, so I was told that they'd agree to fix the work they didn't do for a mere $500 in addition to the money I had already spent. I couldn't pay that, so I left with my fucked up repair job. I had used them in the past before this, but I won't be back. I took my Audi in on April 7th. Jonathon was my appraiser. It was done effortlessly and conveniently. Gerber kept me updated almost every other day. They told me when it was at the halfway point and when the expected delivery date was. A delay in a part due to COVID-19 delayed the finish date by a few days but they kept me informed and told me why. This type of customer service was above and beyond what I expected. Someone had broken my back window out and I had already paid for them to replace the glad Monday but I needed it wrapped until then. I had a very negative experience with Fix Auto. After being in an accident, I took it to Fix for an estimate as they were recommended by the insurance company of the driver who was at fault. They prepared and estimate, but while doing so tried to tell me that legally the car wasn't drive-able so I would have to leave it there (despite driving it to the shop). While preparing the estimate, they informed me that the earliest they could schedule me to complete the work was three weeks later. I scheduled the appointment just so I could get the car fixed. After the nearly three weeks goes by, I got a call the day before I my scheduled appointment. They NEVER ORDERED THE PARTS. So now the earliest they could fit me in was 2 weeks later. I cancelled the service and found another shop that was able to take me the next day, and completed the work in less than one week. If only I was able to find them first so that Fix Auto wouldn't have wasted so much of my time. read more

Sloppy, lazy and incompetent. There seems to be no oversight or quality control. It took getting my insurance involved to call the owner to get things done properly. I have taken my car in 3 times recently, the 3rd time I only gave them a chance since they didn't complete the work on the 2nd job. I was baffled at how much they could screw up. -They missed a HUGE portion of interior work when I went to pick it up. Which, required ordering more parts and more time. The woman who did the estimate and over saw was awful, and I knew going into she wasn't to be trusted. -When I finally picked it up, when they installed my seat I couldn't buckle my seat belt!!! No oversight or quality control. So, I left it again. -Never called me when parts came in. Only called me when I responded negatively to a survey. Turns out they had the parts for over a month. -Front desk is awful at communicating progress and when you need to pick up your car. I was told my car would be ready one day, on my way to pick up they called to say it would be a few more days. -Always need more time, they never can deliver on the promised date. -The woman who does the estimates is one of the mist unprofessional and incompetent people. This place is not worth your time, money or sanity. Start to finish, it has been an awful experience. I am surprised my insurance still considers them a preferred body shop. read more

I was referred to Havlick's by my auto insurance company, to fix a large chip in my Jetta's windshield and roof paint caused by a falling rock on I-5. The staff at Havlick's was great -- they got me in right away for an estimate, they were friendly, the shop was convenient to me, and the repair was well-done. Minus one star (I'd make it a half if I could) for the repair going a bit longer than they estimated, necessitating an unexpected weekend with the rental car, but they did make the arrangements to extend my rental with Enterprise for me, so I didn't have to make any other calls. read more

Like many others, we came here on an Insurance claim that involved replacing the roof, rear top bumper and the entire back panel plus windshield. There was also a separate repair involving our bumper. There were many administrative headaches, like our Canadian insurance, and the fact that the car was a lease. A few things Fix Auto does better than any shop: Communication - they managed to e-mail, call everyone involved, and keep us updated on the repair status and necessary paperwork. We had the misfortune of being out of the city and also confused the staff with Canadian insurance documents, but they ended up sorting it out behind the scenes, with minimal involvement from us. Service - The repairs were detail-oriented and completed with urgency. With quality comes a premium. If you weren't coming here for insurance, the cost is at least 150% more than your average shop. Despite that, they are still incredibly busy, so be sure to call ahead for an average job. As an added bonus, our entire car was detailed...for both repairs. The car was better than new, to the point that when we returned the lease, they immediately questioned how great it looked. THAT, is a sign of quality. read more

I went in for an estimate to fix some very minor scraping damage to the side of my car. I was constantly being pressured into getting far more work done than I was interested in doing and to bring my insurance company into the picture, because it was simply worth the money to do so. I was offered absurd stories that came straight out of a non-existent folksy americana fairlyland about eventual business decline owing to neighbors questioning the quality of work for not doing a 100% repair job. All part of the mythical 'man upstairs's theories about business continuity. (Who is that guy, anyway? He seems to work everywhere where one can be worked over by aggressive sales people who attempt to capitalize on fear and docility...) Avoid. Happy I found these guys. My car got keyed over the weekend, and Safeco Insurance recommended this auto body shop in my neighborhood. Good first impressions. In order to file an insurance claim for the damage, I needed to file a police report first. But in order to file that police report, I needed a repair estimate from an auto body shop. So: I first went to the service center of my car dealership (where I get all my other regular car services done) and got an estimate from them. After calling my insurance company, however, I was told I needed to get an estimate from one of their "approved" auto body shops -- and they sent me to Fix Auto. They were booked the rest of that afternoon, so I had to book a next day appointment for them to estimate the work. In any case, I came on time and was immediately greeted. Even though it looked like they were pretty busy, Brandy (who helped get me an estimate) was nice and efficient. She answered all my questions, walked me through everything, and I was on my way in less than 15mins. Scheduled an appointment to drop off the car (3 business days later) and got my detailed estimate a couple hours later via email. Though it didn't really make a difference for me (because my insurance deductible is less than either estimate), I'm glad I got a second estimate. Fix Auto's estimate was almost 40% lower than the dealership service center I went to first. (Something nice to know in the future if I ever think about paying out of pocket for something car-related.) Also super convenient they work directly with Safeco Insurance (and probably a number of other insurance companies). Started the claims process over the phone with Safeco and Fix Auto had all my info handy when I got there (and will coordinate directly with Safeco to get me a rental car, etc.). Extra credit points for convenience. Car is going into the shop next week. You can assume if I don't update this review, that their repair work (fixing the key marks on my car) was done well. I cannot rave enough about Havlick's. My insurance company recommended them after my sweet little Mini was in an accident. The front end was pretty badly damaged and Havlick's did excellent work repairing it. But that's not the only reason I'm recommending them. The people there were wonderful: very courteous, they arranged for my car to be towed to the shop, they got me a rental car, and unlike other experiences I've had with auto shops, they stayed in constant contact with me letting me know what was happening to the car and when I could expect it back. After many months I recently brought it back in to see if a new problem that cropped up was related to the damage in the accident. They checked it for free and when they came to the conclusion that the problem was not related to the accident they paid for my one-day rental car because my insurance wouldn't. I think you'll agree that this is service way above and beyond the average. read more

As other readers here, I was referred to Havlick's by my insurance company. As a car owner who lives on Capital Hill, you take certain risks parking on the street. My car was backed into by an SUV with a tire mounted on the back which caused a big divet in my hood. The service was great and a lot faster than I was expecting. I was expecting a four day repair, but it turned out to only take two days. The claims process was quick and painless and their work is guaranteed for the life of the vehicle. I had my front bumper replaced, after it was smashed while parked on the street. I worked with Greg who was very competent and upfront. They put everything in writing. Explained how the insurance company works along with the time frame. Excellent communication. They completed my car on time and even double checked when I asked about it. I did experience some "family dynamics" while waiting to check out, but it didn't phase me and 3 years later, my bumper looks great! Some of the negative reviews may be due to the fact that insurance companies can be cheap and make quotes based on bad parts. Fix Auto told me that basically whenever they deal with certain insurance co's they see the claim will be shorted by the insurer every time. read more

Very unsatisfied with the type of communication skills the women who had come out to me first to talk about my appointment, very disrespectful and with no manors. Didn't even explain to me why I had to get out of the customer office just demanded me to stay outside and during her lunch drove off revving her engine speeding off. She was very rude and was not a great first impression too the company. After getting my car back about three months down the road it had taken three emails, more than enough phone calls between me and the Gerber call center and still nothing in response due to my bumper being placed incorrectly. I ended up having to call another facility to have them reach Olive Street Gerber went in on a Tuesday they Apologized and stated that they place the bumper on wrong and have to order a whole new one to be replaced the manager at the site said it should take about two hours and they will make sure that I am first in and focused on to be Done first so I won't have to wait due to there mistake. And because there painter who is needed is on vacation. Today I get the car In the shop eight hours later I've had to sit and wait in the Seattle area due to moving further north. Wow. Don't go here if you do not have insurance. They will make you pay MORE, instead of giving you a break as most places do. I had some damaged done to my car. Called my insurance and they suggested Gerber. I went there and got a bid for around 1500. I carry a large deductible (2500) so my insurance payments are less. So the bill was going to be less than my deductible. Naturally I decided to pay it directly to Gerber. When they heard this, they rebid my car to over 1700.Yes, you heard it right, they wanted me to pay 200 more if I paid it myself. Once again, the consumer gets the shaft. Nice going Gerber owners. Take advantage of the little guy. By the way the staff was all really nice and polite except the "boss lady" in the back. Never talked to her directly, but she complained out loud (you could hear her in the waiting room) the whole time I was there. Really really glad I don't work for her. read more

This is the best team and service in town. I just had my car in for repairs and it was a bit of a tricky 3rd party situation - not your standard insurance claim. Alex was amazing from start to finish. Quick, thorough, highly communicative, he took total ownership in all the details, communicating with all parties involved - and he did it in such an effective, efficient, understanding way, keeping me looped in on every step of the process which made me feel reassured and supported.
