Once again, it is time that I leave the most positive review that I can for H&I Automotive. I tend to put a dent in my car from time to time and, although I am not proud of it, I have gone to them for 20 years. This is the most honest business I have ever encountered. The head guy goes over your situation and the estimate with great detail and patience. I have always paid out of pocket and their estimate has always been much less than the others. Sometimes by more than half. Their work is fantastic. They give you options for body work; in my most recent encounter, they fixed my door rather than charged me double to replace it. I called up about some scratches and dents on my old Audi - something that didn't seem too onerous, and I was told they're understaffed and that I should go over to Pacific Auto Body instead (who specialize in a handful of brands, none of which is Audi). She didn't even ask what my time frame was for getting the work done. Instead she went into a tirade about Seattle's minimum wage and how hard it was to find qualified employees. This sorry excuse for an auto shop lost my 3 vehicles worth of business in less than 20 minutes of appallingly disrespectful and infuriating "customer service." My husband called and gave them a detailed explanation of our problem. He made an appointment for me to drop the car off. When I showed up, the woman in the office didn't so much as acknowledge my presence. She just stuffed a pad and pen into my hand while walking past me without even telling me what I was supposed to write down. Outside, she poked around the interior of my car while she and a male coworker asked me a bunch of questions that my husband had already answered on the phone (he knows more about the problem than I do) before refusing to give me an estimate and telling me I would need to make another appointment to drop the car off because they couldn't take it now. What an absolutely appalling waste of my time and energy. I made arrangements for a ride home and drove all the way over there to drop off the car only for this sh*t show to unfold. read more

Later she rejected Progressive assignment and texted me back they will pass on my car because short of staff. I felt disappointed and sad. These folks are amazing. Owned and operated by a friendly couple and their adorable dog. We needed the undercover replaced since it was dragging on the pavement. Estimates from other shops were $1,600 and $900. H&I quoted us $700. They removed the old undercover for free before we even committed to hiring them for the fix. Their cute dog's name is "on-nai" which means pineapple in Taiwanese. He is a real lapdog, very sweet (just like pineapple!) and loves to be held if you are interested. We will be returning to H&I for all future body work that we need. read more

I got in a fender bender in early August and wanted to get repairs done through my insurance provider Progressive. Their in-network repair shops couldn't get me in for an appointment to assess the damage then order parts until early October. I had gone to H&I before years and years ago for a simple fix of a replacement sideview mirror on my 1999 Toyota Camry and remember having such a wonderful experience, so I called them up to see if they had any availability for me. They were able to take my car in within days (at this point it was early September). They worked with my insurance appraiser to make sure that insurance would cover all the parts and labor for my repair. Yuchu kept me updated via text weekly about ordering parts, receiving parts, and completing repairs. I never had to come into the shop until it was time to pick it up. They made everything very easy for me, including working with the tow company when my car was delivered there. I got to pick up my car a few days ago, after a total of 3 weeks in the shop. I was very impressed with this turnaround time given current supply chain issues and how damaged my car was. It is still not early October so if I had waited for an in-network shop to deal with my car, I would still have a non-functional car. High quality work and fast turnaround for an affordable price! One of the few locally owned auto body shops left in Seattle. Paul, Yuchu and the good folks at H&I (also known as Seatown Autoworks) charged me less than $200 to do what two other big name auto body shops tried to charge me $3100 - $3500 for! My car got dinged in a parking lot. Some minor dents and paint scraped down to bare metal (rust risk!). At the recommendation of Repair Revolution, I called up H&I and Yuchu got me in the next day for an estimate. Paul took the time to explain how the dents weren't a major issue (structural integrity is fine, door works fine, no metal on metal rub). He and Yuchu then gave me options ranging from the more economic "buff it out and touch it up" to just protect the paint (~$200), minor dent repairs + repaint (~$1000), or full blown replacement of car panels (~$1800). I choose the cheapest option. So in two hours on a Sat morning, they protected the paint of my car and didn't destroy my wallet! The entire process from initial call to estimate to repair took five weeks total (at a time when two other repair shops were scheduling out 4-6 weeks + 4 more weeks to get repairs done). It did take a bit of missed emails and phone tag to schedule, but all auto shops in Seattle were really busy at this time. For comparison, I also got estimates from two other big name auto shops (both have "Collision" in their names). The only option they gave me was to replace the panels and quoted me at $3000-$3500. So they gave me fewer options than H&I and would've charged me thousands more! And it would've taken longer for me to get scheduled and get repair work. As I sit here writing this review, the owners ( Yu Chu and Paul) are working on my car making minor adjustments, free of charge to help my husband and I. I chose this shop to have my car repaired after a not-at-fault collision on the front bumper. The shop was super friendly, would communicate everything to me, and they were very quick. The quality of work was amazing. I have a Camaro SS, and it looks like nothing had ever been damaged on it. Outstanding work. I took my 2014 Subaru Forrester in for repair of my front bumper and hood. The evaluation was thorough and the estimate complete. The work was accomplished on time and within the estimate. I called and was told the car was ready. I picked it up the next day and noticed that, although the bill included paint matching, the front bumper was not the same shade as the rest of the car. I was told that current factory supplied paint was a lighter shade than my car and that if I wanted the paint to match I would have to give them another day. When I questioned why I was told the car was ready I was told, "I didn't know you wanted it perfect." I don't think that is 5 star work. I would probably go back but would budget for an extra trip to check on their work before pickup. read more

Super fast service! Dropped my truck off with the Geico Express team here on a Wednesday and it was ready Friday!! (Only needed a new bumper and small side panel though.) The only negative if you are reading this from a Geico point is I took an hour to drop it off and get the rental car! The rental car process took a while since they had to find a car including tax under $30 I wasn't going to pay the extra amount. One nice thing was they had a truck ready for me to rent if I needed it (since I have a truck) I didn't need it just wanted their cheapest car. The workers of the shop were all nice and great to work with. When I picked up my truck Friday to my surprise it had been washed and cleaned really good inside and out! They did a better job than the guys I payed to clean it a few months ago. I'm impressed, hopefully I won't need their services again, but if I do I would use them again. read more

I'm not big on writing reviews, but after seeing a past employee named "Adam" make up lies about this great business I must write a review about my experience. 8 years ago I was in an accident and it was a very important car to me. I was just in tears. H&I was the only shop I knew of in the area. I called them up and they calmly helped me and told me what to do. Within 30 min they had a tow truck picking me up and bringing me to the shop. Moment I got there I knew thing would be ok. They argued with the insurance company to get some things fixed correctly when insurance was trying to be cheap. I figured sense I was having so much work done I would pay extra for custom paint. Paul spent extra time with me to make me a dream car. Chu helped me find some of the coolest parts. Since then I have had my friends, family use H&I and I have had other cars done. Truth is I don't trust most businesses, but this is one place I trust completely and proud to tell everyone about these sweet business owners. They are open 6 days week and work harder than anyone I've met. I think the customer reviews many that are 5 stars speak for them. However not only are they fair and honest. I had a great experience with H & I. They were able to have me in that day on 30 min notice for a quote and provided it on the spot, after careful inspection of my car. He talked with me about what I could compromise on and what I couldn't to keep the cost reasonable for the situation. I went somewhere else to get a quote right after and although the other was just slightly lower, I still felt so comfortable that H & I would do their best with my car and actually cared about me and the work they were doing. Finding an automotive repair shop after having an accident is easy. Finding one that you can trust is a challenge. After being rear-ended we thought there would be no possible way that the car would ever be "as good as new" and decided that we would trade the car after the repair. H&I proved that a car can be repaired back to original quality. We subsequently decided that there was no reason to trade it in. You could examine the car with a magnifying glass and would be hard pressed to find an imperfection. The team at H&I were wonderful and kept us informed of the progress as well as updates between them and the insurance company. Paul from H&I Automotive saved the day!! I recently took my car to a mechanic who stated they would replace the exterior door handle of my car. When I received the car back I never actually tested to see if the passenger door opened. I realized it too late when I was going to give someone a ride. The car door wouldn't open, so my passenger had to climb over the driver's side! I took the car back to the mechanic who stated it would cost another $280 to fix the issue. Wait a minute, didn't I just pay them to fix the handle which now doesn't work?! I decided to get another opinion from a different mechanic, who then referred me over to H&I. I'm so glad he did! We took my car into H&I that same day, 15 minutes before they closed, and they quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed the car in 15 minutes! Not only that, they did it for free. I highly recommend H&I. They are a trustworthy and knowledgeable company who is truly there for their clients. They could have stated the same thing as the mechanic and charged us $280 to "fix the issue" - but instead, they fixed the problem w/o needing to replace the part and we left extremely happy customers! We will definitely be back and will recommend H&I to anyone. For us, it definitely paid off to go to the right shop for the job. I travel a lot for work; in fact when the time came to fix my car, I was dreading taking it to the shop. H&I made it a seamless experience. They worked well with my insurance and really took care of my "bat mobile". I had stopped in earlier to check the shop out. The team at the shop showed me such great service that when my insurance asked where I wanted to get the work done, I didn't bat an eye. On top of that, when I picked up the car, it looked brand new.
