Asked the waitress what the price would be to swap out the veggies in an omelette for other veggies. She said "that's not a problem. It should be fine". When the bill came it was a $3 upcharge. Honestly, I'm not even sure where to begin here. Truth be told, this entire experience was nothing of what I could have ever imagined. Originally, I was supposed to go to a seafood boil restaurant until my guest and I realized they were only doing take-outs. After wandering around aimlessly through Sunset Park, we noticed the restaurant's simple corner outdoor dining perfectly layed out so that patrons would be shaded and secluded from the traffic. Thus, given the emptiness and appealing setup of the restaurant, we decided to give it a try. Upon arrival, my guest and I were uncertain of how to attain one of the tables; should we just sit wherever we like, or should we go inside? Given insufficient directions, and their lack of any servers in sight, we went inside where we greeted by someone and told to sit anywhere outside for our server would be soon be with us. We stepped outside and were greeted by a young girl (possibly 18) with a low-cut top and casual bottoms. Was this truly their waitress? She placed us at a table, gave us our menus, and went off to complete other tasks. We ordered two pasta entrees: fettuccine alfredo with shrimp, and Fra Diavolo. Both entrees were to come with our choice of soup or salad. Soon after, our "waitress" returned with what this restaurant has the audacity to call a "salad". Their so called "salad" featured shredded iceberg lettuce, about two cucumbers sliced cut into halves, and three tomato slices. Dressing? You have to ask for that and no, you don't have options to choose from other than their homemade Italian dressing. The dressing was alright I guess, but their salad was truly underwhelming. It was a fine joke for my guest who happened to love iceberg lettuce, so I guess he enjoyed that portion of the salad, haha! The entree itself was mediocre. To be honest, I would remove the words "Fra Diavolo" from the entree's name; there was no spice whatsoever. If you like simple watery tomato sauce with small chunks of tomato, some overcooked and rubbery calamari, and some salty as the sea shrimp, then maybe it's the dish for you. My guest said that the fettuccine alfredo sauce was alright, and he appreciated the half-and-half as a form of heavy creamer, but admitted, he'd had better. He truly seemed to despise the salty and fishy taste of the shrimp but ate them because he felt he had to because he had "paid for them". I really couldn't find anything wonderful to say about this restaurant. After our entrees were served, we noticed we were given a new "waitress" with similar taste for the crop-top fashion, but this time, her long blond hair was left loose. Um, health hazard much? I would know considering I do have a food manager's license! Maybe their breakfast and other options are better but learn from our mistakes and please, stay away! read more

This place is a typical diner fare. I come to this restaurant because it is the closest diner style to where I live, but I found the prices for things pricey. They have recently updated the menu look, and plates, but I wish they were a bit better in terms of pricing. Often in the summer times, as the outside is quite hot, they don't really have strong AC. Other than that, this place has been opened for a long time. I usually order their Philadelphia Cheese Steak with mash potatoes, but recently I feel that it is not as good as it was years ago. read more

I have had other diners just as good that are much cheaper than this one, but with supply vs demand in the area (demand-good diner food/supply-only this place) they can get away with the prices. I love their turkey dinner, and turkey clubs, they are always all white meat, fresh, hot and tender. They even serve the dinner with cranberry sauce. The burgers here are also really good, well cooked just how I like them and served with large amounts of steak fries. Which are never over cooked and always hot. They deliver anything on the takeout menu, even milkshakes/fountain soda. (Slight spillage but nice touch if you have nothing to drink and don't want to leave the house since all they offer in bottles is Snapple) Never ate in, just delivery and always fast, hot, and cooked exactly how I ordered it. I'm thrilled that George's is just down the block in my new neighborhood. It's big, has a huge diner menu, and the staff is always friendly. The first time I came, I asked what was on their nachos and the waitress told me cheese and guacamole. So I ordered it. When it arrived, it had chili on it, which I don't eat because of the meat, so I had to send it back. The waitress was really apologetic and brought out my replacement order (a tasty three cheese pizza) quickly. This is also a great, unassuming place to get brunch on the weekends without having to deal with all the hoopla that often surrounds Weekend Brunch (TM). My one complaint is that the prices seem a little high. If it were located in Manhattan I would think nothing of it, but for south Brooklyn it seems a bit steep. read more

I got a bacon burger, fries and mozz sticks. The burger was over cooked and not that good. I didn't eat much of it. The fries were pretty good. They were the wide, chip style fries, one of my favs. The mozzarella sticks were VERY good and it comes with an abundance of marinara sauce, which is nice. Only four are included though, which is a little disappointing. Charging over $2 per stick is a little over the top. People have complained that the delivery is slow but they arrived before expected. Overall, it seems like a hit or miss menu. I'd give it another shot. read more

Now, not so much..Below I have listed the reasons as to why. I hope you address these.. - 1. Poor quality burnt coffee 2. Eggs taste like they were made with burnt old oil; the vegetables in the omelet are not fresh; the sausages are greasy and big for no reason because they have no natural taste. 3. Cheese tastes like plastic. Very cheap quality. 4. French toast made on poor quality bread. + On a more positive note, the service is amazing; waiters seem happy to be working there, and that comes through when serving customers. Overall, the quality of your breakfast meals is very poor. This is sad because your diner has been in the area for generations, and being a family run business people are naturally inclined to support it, but not when given very poor quality meals. Lots of booths, a clean bathroom, quick seating, and they deliver. This is a great diner because it is consistent. I ordered in when my parents were here over the Christmas season, and they raved. Now that's a rave from my mom, the lady who was afraid that NYC restaurants would all have rats (this was right around the Taco Bell rat video). While they might all have rats, the food was still great and it made my parents happy. Mmmm... onion rings. It arrived hot, tasty, and with lots of bread, butter, condiments, high quality plastic wear, and a friendly delivery. I've only eaten brunch at the actual diner, and I love the eggs and home fries. I really don't understand why menus would say fresh squeezed lemonade and then the waitress would go over and use a mixer to bring powdered lemonade drink. That really grinds my gears, tasted like crap kool aid mix. Then I ordered a chicken salad and the chicken is cold and dry like its been sitting there for a long time. Whats is so hard about cooking a fresh boneless chicken breast and the bacon pieces was like a year old it was so rubbery. This place really does not provide decent food for the price. This place makes me happy! It's a go to for my family and I to order delivery when we want a delicious dinner. We happen to be creatures of habit and love our meat and potato's so choosing the beef brisket is a no brainer! The meat is lean and plenty, the mashed potato's w/gravy and sautéed mushrooms are more than enough to share for two. This includes a soup which I usually choose between chicken, broccoli or mushroom and barley. We tried their chicken supreme to share as well and had enough for lunch on the following day. Pros: Best place for a typical diner breakfast in Sunset Park. Before 9 am or so, they have the most delicious chocolate chip pancakes and free little shots of OJ. Also, the coffee is nice and strong. If you get the right waiter, the milkshakes are amazing. It's nice because it's family owned, and George is really nice. Once I forgot to pay, walked out the door, and was halfway across 5th Ave before remembering. I came back in, paid, and George was like, "That's because you feel comfortable at George's." Which is, in fact, its biggest appeal. Cons: Dinner is pricey for what you get. Once a new waitress tried to give my boyfriend instant coffee. The sandwiches are not that good. read more

The delivery guy was supposed to be there at 11:50 got there after 12, not a huge deal I had not even called the restaurant yet. When I open my sandwich there is only pita a couple of fries and ABSOLUTELY NO MEAT. Called the restaurant and they said they put it in, odd because I am looking at an empty piece of pita wrapped in deli paper. Honestly. I support local business and these guys were the worst. This is for a few deliveries from them, I do agree with some of the other reviews, but this is my experience with them: In the beginning, they were fast and friendly, the chicken fingers were big juicy and delicious (literary 6 big pieces). 2nd order was less, 3rd order was even less. I tried to double the order so I can get more, that did not work. I tried to go for a pickup one time and magically it was big again, then ordered double for delivery and literary half the amount. Tried to talk to a manager there, who simply asked to talk to the owner but I have to come back another day! I went back, and he was not there. Honestly for a small non- fancy place, you should get what you pay for, not only the original big order I got was over priced, the last few orders felt like a rip off. My Chopped Steak was like shoe leather to taste. So, I called and the person, that, spoke too me, and she was extremely abusive,calling me a mental case, when I, complained about my dinner, which was very over cooked! Also, the price that was, quoted during the order, was less, than it was at my door... The difference was a, dollar more, but I was not informed, at the time the order was placed...
