Sliding downhill. I have visited several time since my first review and each time there were issues, mostly poor food prep. The last two burgers I have been served have been dry, over cooked and marginal at best. One of the burgers, the bun was so dry and hard it reminded me of week old bread trying to hear it and make it ok. Pitty really, I prefer almost anything over a large chain. I went on 9/10/23 and I pulled up and ordered 4 breakfast burritos and a chips and queso. She came back and told me it was $35!!!! I said "oh are the burritos large?" (cause some places say they have burritos but they are just slightly larger tacos) she told me yes so I told her to take 2 burritos off then. It brought my total to $13. I then wait 35 minutes in the drive thru. I figured they got busy and so I was patient. Someone comes by finally and says it'll be 5 more minutes and I said no worries cause I wanted to try this place out for it being my first time and figured they were busy at 11:30 on a Sunday morning. I waited and they come and get my payment and said they didn't have queso. disappointed but understanding I said that fine just take that off my order then i'll come back and try it out another time. They came back and handed me my receipt and card and they had charged me $29????? I said why was it $29 for 2 burritos? I then said for them to just go ahead and refund me and they can keep the 40 minute "burritos" (they were just slightly larger tacos). Very sad cause I had wanted to try this place out for the longest time and I told the woman at the window that. She didn't didn't even apologize after all of this. Just handed me my refund receipt. I totally get being busy and frustrated in the restaurant industry considering I am a waitress currently but that was just pure rude and ridiculous. read more

BEST BREAKFAST IN TOWN. After going to the Pancake house for years I felt it was time to branch out and try some new cafes. Once I walked into George's Cafe I was greeted by one of the nicest waitresses Philipica! She is very attentive and always asking if we needed anything. After ordering the great experience went on, I got the original and it was great! I if you are me, then you cannot eat breakfast food with out a plethora of salsa and fortunately they have fresh salsa! Overall this was a great experience and at a reasonable price! Looking forward to coming here next week! The only suggestion would be that my friend got a fruit cup that was really only cantaloupe with no variety and the coffee needs to be a little stronger! Stop by this little breakfast shop around 9 and it wasn't that packed. Got seated right away. Service was very nice and welcoming. For the food, I did not like the chicken and waffle that I had gotten. It tasted bland and the gravy was just alright. The fresh orange juice and the hash browns were the only things I liked. This place is pretty awesome. Just went and got some chicken fried steak that was great for the price I paid(6.99 lunch special). It's got 3 HD TV that were playing football which is why we decided to stay and eat there. They do however have a drive through, but it takes about 5-10 minutes to get your food so we just sat down to eat. They serve a lot of "American" food and breakfast all day. Fast service and smiles on there face. Strongly recommend checking this place out. read more

The breakfast here was good. They tout the "Best Breakfast" but my opinion is good. Nothing bad about the place don't get me wrong. I am just not sure it is the "best". I do have to say though, the hash browns are amazing...not very many places get them crispy and not that half-cooked, soggy mashed messed most other places give you. I did try some of my daughter's waffle...that was yummy too! So, yes, the verdict is this is a good place for breakfast. read more

I love the atmosphere here. The wait staff, specifically morning, is super sweet. They have to-die-for fresh squeezed orange juice and you get to seat yourself. It was a delicious meal, and the waitress was very attentive. The only down side to my visit was the fact that there were a couple young waitresses who seemed to be distracted by some male customers, and in effect, I was charged twice for my meal. Hmmm asked for a George's club (BLT and Ham) couldn't do it because it was a sandwich and they only serve breakfast. Ok, how about a BLT, she says let me check and see if that's ok. (Toast with bacon... a breakfast item). Comes back and says yes. Ok. Add a side of ham. Seems to me I got my original order of a GeorgesClub. Seriously, to have to go through all of that was rather ridiculous. Finally, having to ask to have our dirty table (never bussed) cleaned was a final deal breaker. Ordered dinner through the drive through just under an hour before they closed and it was on a weeknight. I ordered their chips and salsa and chicken strip dinner with fried okra and green beans. WOW I'm pretty sure their tortilla chips are homemade which I wasn't expecting but so thrilled when they handed me the bag of fresh hot chips. The salsa was awesome as well. The chicken strips are probably my favorite in Lubbock. One thing I have noticed is that they don't salt their foods very much. Doesn't really bother me but it REALLY bothers my salt loving boyfriend.
