I'll start with, moving is no fun, it's stressful and generally an awful experience. With that out of the way, the guys at Genuine know how it's supposed to be done and did everything possible to minimize the level of awfulness. We moved from our apartment in Melrose to our new home in Westford. The guys that arrived were pros, everything was boxed up, wrapped up and moved carefully. No one stood around, hesitated or second guessed how our giant monstrosity of a couch would fit through the narrow staircase. Ohh... and our queen sized bed went out and off the balcony - let's just say that was much quicker than when it originally arrived. They made quick work of getting everything into hour home and made sure everything went exactly where we wanted it first time around, re-assembled everything and made it seem like we weren't sleeping in boxes for our first night. Long story short, they arrived on time, worked quickly, brought along plenty of extra boxes, had power tools, asked all the right questions and never made me want to cringe at how something was done. There's something you should know about me. I loathe hyperbole. That said, I just wanted to say that there is no one on the planet I'd rather have help me move than Genuine Movers. It's not just that they were professional, thoughtful, punctual and scary efficient. It's that when a challenge arose, they didn't just react in a professional manner. They seemed legitimately excited for the chance to solve the problem. Here's what happened, specifically. While taking an exit onto the Mass Pike, our truck (that I rented) blew out a tire. The truck was FULL and heavy. The next thing I knew, Michael from Genuine sprung into action. It was as if his dream was to be in a NASCAR pit crew and this was his one chance at living the dream. He managed to jack up the truck, change the tire, and have us on our way before I could even get the rental truck company's customer service to figure out where we actually were. They were recommend by a coworker, booked a short notice move without issue. Showed up on time, were very professional and quick. Rates seemed above average which I thought was because of timing but I was told they were all inclusive and there were no additional costs for anything. They recommend we add another mover to speed things up which seemed to help overall. It was nice to see boxes or our furniture constantly being moved out even when two of them were busy wrapping up or dismantling our furniture - these guys came prepared with power tools! We did our own packing and left the large items for them, we have nice things so it was great to have everything wrapped up in blankets without having to point it out. Overall they made quick work of our house and even quicker getting us into our new place. They put everything back together and didn't overstay their welcome. Long story short, they showed up on time, moved our stuff quickly, no one stood around or looked out of place, didn't break anything, picked up trash on their way out. I made this my first Yelp review because I booked Genuine Movers through Amazon, and now Amazon.com won't let me leave a review (error messages, instead) there. Regardless, Michael and his crew are true professionals. I had a short (in distance), but complicated move into a home with narrow doors, a twisting staircase, etc. They did a perfect job in record time. The final price was right in the middle of the quoted price (given from my emailed notes and list, which omitted a few large items). Micheal and his crew also expertly wrapped and moved a number of fragile items (flat screen TVs, framed art, etc.), with no additional charge for the materials needed. They worked fast, but nothing was broken or even dinged, and use a well-maintained truck, fully stocked with dollies, moving blankets, tape, boxes, stretch wrap - the works. This was definitely the best moving experience I've ever had, and I highly recommend Genuine Movers. You will not be disappointed or over-charged, and they will make your move less stressful. read more

I've moved four times since I've lived in MA and I wish I'd have known about Genuine for all of those moves. They moved me most recently from Beverly to Danvers and it was the fastest, most well organized move I've ever had. Micheal and his team are polite and professional and the rates are completely reasonable. Even the quote was spot on. They took anything apart that needed to be broken down to move and put it back together (in some cases, better than they found it because my bed frame feels a lot more solid than it did prior to the move) in no time at all. Any question I asked got a positive response of, "sure thing," or "yes we can do that," or "no problem." Michael even helped me figure out where to put furniture in main room of my new apartment. I'll only be living here for a limited time and I will definitely be calling Genuine when I need to move again. read more

Moved a block away with some items to storage a few blocks further. Crew upended boxes, took a storage cabinet apart, breaking off the edge of one side where it had been attached, taking the brackets with them and leaving that section upside down, so it wasn't noticed. Bed slats were joined and spaced with twill strips and had plastic edges that rested on the bed sides. They discarded the strips and most of the plastic edges, so the slats fall every time the mattress is lifted or moved. Other furniture dinged and scratched. Communication was abrupt, verging on rude at one point. Given other positive reviews, I wonder if homophobia played a part in our experience. Certainly would not recommend. read more

We needed to help our daughter move and it was kind of an emergency last minute thing and she hadn't even packed things up. Didn't stop these guys! They were so completely professional - from start to finish! These guys helped finish the packing and got the move done FAST, FAST, FAST. My husband was so impressed that he said he doesn't want to use ANY other moving company for home OR business - EVER. He wants THESE guys! My wife and I couldn't maintain the big old house anymore and decided to downsize to a more manageable apartment. We hired Genuine moving to pack up all our belongings and transport them to our retirement home. They were very rational with their quote which is why my husband hired them. The men who moved everything were very efficient and worked like machines around my old house. I was very pleased to see their work ethics and skills. They loaded everything onto the vans and then transported them to our new place. Everything was in great condition and I couldn't be any happier. These guys surely are the best movers. read more

These guys were great. They moved us from a 2BR condo in the city out to the suburbs and were professional, efficient and careful every step of the way. Michael, the owner, is very personable and up front with the pricing, which is very fair in my experience. They took the time to wrap everything that needed it and took care not to damage anything. These guys worked hard and did not drag out the process to increase costs as some moving companies do and we ended up being charged the minimum of the quote range we received at the outset. "Everything is possible." This is what the lead mover told me when I hired Genuine to attempt to move an insanely heavy and large dresser from the first floor of our house to the second. "Well, it was not possible for my wife and I," I told him. After trying a few different ways to get it up the stairs, the team ended up carefully removing the legs at which point they were able to finesse it up. And they got it done in under an hour. I was looking for a mover to move a refrigerator from Salem to Nahant and they did an amazing job. We were concerned about moving it ourselves because of the size and expense of the one we purchased. They communicated in advance of the pick-up and showed up on time. The two gentlemen who moved the fridge were well prepared, took off the handles before moving it, prepped it well and delivered to our home including putting the handles back on. Michael and his crew did a fantastic job moving a wicked-heavy apartment sized washer/dryer that doesn't come apart down a stairway with a turn in it and up into a new location. They were on time, professional, and courteous. I watched as they were bringing the beast into the new home--as they hoisted it up 3 steps, they wiped their feet on the way in! We were beyond impressed with our experience with Genuine Movers. They showed up on-time and were extremely courteous and professional. Our move took much longer than expected and they had to make three trips with the truck but they were complete pros and powered on through the whole day. There was zero damage to any walls or furniture, they were quick and careful to apply pads to all furniture so as not to damage the new floors. These guys are amazing. I had to reschedule several times due to my work schedule and they were are able to squeeze me in last minute when it finally was time to move. I have relocated with several moving companies before but none was as good as Genuine moving. These guys made sure my move goes as smoothly as it possibly could. I had no issues with them.
