RENTER BEWARE! You'd better read this because trust me, you will never read your rental contract…read more If you close out your account on the first of the month (like, on the date you'd move into a new house or apartment), Public Storage will CHARGE YOU FOR AN ENTIRE MONTH. I moved out the afternoon of July 1 and was charged for an entire month, or 600% of the half day my stuff was in their storage facility. This is a patently unfair policy and the very worst kind of corporate bad behavior. The site manager said that he'd talk to his supervisor and I'd get an email. No email. Next thing you know was a call from a collection agency. I told them to F-off. Then I called customer service and I got the usual mealy-mouthed excuse of "well, that's company policy and while I understand your situation, there's nothing I can do about it." In my entire time on this planet I've never come across any company that was this rigid. Utter B.S. So if you like being completely screwed, use Public Storage. But you'd better clear out your crap at the end of the month. Oh, what's that, you can't move into the new place until the first of the month. I don't have any suggestions. Maybe you should put it in a storage facility...or, maybe not. To the corporate management of Public Storage--there is a special place in hell for you uncaring bastards who take advantage of people who are stressed out by moving. I hope your facilities stay empty for all eternity.
