They did not honor their contract and kept charging extra fees. They moved my belongings to another facility without informing me or my consent. They kept adding fraudulent charged to my account. several times I informed them my street is small and I have very little to move, and to please send a sprinter van type vehicle. NOT ONCE did they tell me they did not have any small vans until a 24' truck arrived the day of the move. I called to complain and they claim they told me they only had 24' trucks, and that they had told me a smaller vehicle was not possible. Used this company for a long distance move from Boston to Florida. Searched around Yelp and found some moving companies with the best reviews, and then inquired about pricing, and this company seemed to come out on top. Communication throughout the process was great- they were very fast to respond to emails, and they allowed me to give them "final" estimates of how many boxes the night before moving. (I ONLY moved boxes and a few random items, no furniture.) That was extremely helpful and appreciated. They made the initial process with the quote very easy (and were exact in the end- did not owe any more or less). The company had initially told me it would take a month to deliver my items. That was fine with my schedule and I said ok. They called me back a few days later to tell me they actually planned on going straight through, if that was ok, and they moved up the delivery date by a month (which would've been 7 days after pickup). Again, that was fine and I made arrangements for that specific delivery date. However, the night before the move they called me to confirm and casually slipped in the conversation that the delivery date was again a different date. It was a few days later than we had planned on. I explained that the new date wasn't going to work for me, I was going to be out of the country, and was told "too bad, to get a direct move without other stops it would cost you an additional $15k". I obviously had no choice but to find someone to be there to accept my boxes. The problem I have with this, is this is not the date I had agreed on and planned on for months. They REALLY inconvenienced me at the very last moment. Second huge issue I had was I had 1 box go missing (that I know of), and several other boxes were damaged during the move. Including several that were labeled FRAGILE. One piece of workout equipment was completely ruined. They were a few hours late on delivery day than expected (cause a problem with my condo building, but understand the exact time is hard to predict with traffic). I would not use this company again. I know I saved money with them, but having things get broken or go missing is not worth it. The box of missing items was invaluable and cannot be replaced with money, it's a shame. Note**** before hiring them, I read all the 4/5 star reviews, and thought every company has a few negative reviews, so no big deal that they existed too. After going back now and reading the negative ones, I realized 1. Same problem of damaged items, stolen boxes, and last minute changes on dates seem to be a theme with this company and 2. Multiple people have reported the company offering money to take down bad reviews. Makes me wonder how trustworthy their reviews are on Yelp. read more

Honestly the worst moving experience of my life. I used esquire three times. My first move was great, no issue. My next move was into storage where I didn't see damage until the move out of storage. Specialty boxes for glasses and plates that were labeled fragile and well packed had somehow been transported upside down. I watched one of the movers come in holding the box upside down and immediately asked what was going on. It was clearly labeled fragile (with arrows for this side up) and had been flipped over! They tried to suggest I packed it broken and that all boxes should be packed in a way that they can be tipped over, which is just insane. They must have really been rough with the box though because even my unbreakable correlle bowls were broken iykyk. Then they dragged my mattress, which was in a protective bag, across pavement tearing the bag and then slid it up the wet truck ramp getting it filthy with mud. Again, I caught it while it happened and they tried to tell me it was because I didn't buy the mattress bag from them so it was my fault... no, you should be carrying my belongings not dragging them. I called dispatch to complain while the move was in progress and they told me it was my fault that they damaged my belongings. I would not recommend this moving service to my worst enemy. The movers are not well trained and have no common sense... you don't flip Boxes upside down and you don't drag mattresses across pavement and through the mud. Can't believe I even have to explain that. Aside from not handling my items with care, there was other sketchy stuff happening. It was a local move. When we finished at one end, I hopped in my car to meet them at the other. It was a 40 minute drive in total...but somehow I arrived an hour ahead of them, and I'm paying by the hour. They couldn't explain what had taken them so long even though we had driven the same roads...and I had to call them to find out where they were...they showed up right after I called as if they were just hanging out nearby. I was also not very happy that one of my movers was wearing an ankle monitor...I'm all for giving criminals second chances, but I didn't feel great about him being in my home and handling my valuables. read more

Overall I am pretty happy. First was the quote process. I was quoted around $2000 and then I was able to negotiate it down to about $1900. But a few days before the move, they called me and adjusted upwards to the original price after I told them about a few random items - small things like a vacuum cleaner and 2 suitcases. I wasn't really happy about this because they had already seen the video I sent them. It wasn't fair to have to adjust upwards since I was already moving out of a very small space with not that much stuff, and that felt like a bait and switch. Though, I will say that they gave me the best price out of the 3 others I contacted. The movers were overall good. They arrived on time, and moved extremely efficiently. The large furniture was wrapped up into the wrappings. They also used blankets for the wooden furniture. One negative though, is that they didn't really seem to treat my stuff with that much care. A few of my boxes were labeled fragile and there was at least one box that fell from a medium height. Overall, only 1 thing broke, which was not that big of a deal because it was probably like $6 in value, but I could tell they didn't pay attention to the box labels. They assembled and disassembled ~1 or 2 things, which was included in the price. They drove about 140 miles without incident. Then, there was a small wait as I was getting the keys at the new apartment. They moved my stuff into the room and then left. I was pretty happy with their efficiency overall. I do recommend this company. I think they have a good price and are reliable. I would just try to stay firm on the price, and know that the move is ideal for people who do not have super expensive and breakable things. I moved those things in my car separately. read more

I am a strong believer in complete transparency and honoring your word, this is something that Esquire Moving lacks. My partner and I did a short distance move. I spent time talking to both Valerie, and her associates, in preparation for my move. I listed out to Valerie all of the items I have and what I wanted/needed help moving; I ensured that every single one of my items were packed and wrapped, already ready to move into the truck and out (to the point that the movers even complimented my preparation); and there were several times I spoke with someone regarding a Veteran's discount. Now, I understand that not every company does military discounts. My partner is a Veteran, we both completely understand that it isn't a requirement of companies to give a discount of any sort. We ask nonetheless to inquire. I spoke to three different managers/associates (including Valerie), each associate mentioned that they do not do a Veteran's discount, but because they "respect and appreciate" the service that my partner provided, that a 7% discount will be applied. I was specifically told "7%" a number of times. Now the day of the move, the movers arrived over 30 minutes early (which was actually included in my final price). No problem, you do work and need to get paid, fine. They were very fast and efficient. I do wish I had time to let them know where to place things, they moved so fast that I really couldn't direct them as much as I wanted. It made settling in and finding boxes a little difficult. I offered them cold waters and popsicles because it was a warm day. Upon completion, although I was quoted a number of times for the price range to be 500-750 max, I was charged over a grand (I don't have any heavy furniture or sets). We were also told we could pay through zelle, pay with cash to receive a 3% discount, or pay with card for a fee. We opted to utilize zelle, however the movers kept saying they didn't take zelle. We had to call the managers (which took forever to get in contact with someone). I called Valerie, who was specifically assigned to my case, several times and she would not answer despite knowing the time of my move and clearly stating that they're very available for any issues that may arise. We finally got a hold of someone and our discount of 7% wasn't even honored. They even lied and said this wasn't said to me. Overall I wouldn't hire this company again because they not only lied, they were aggressive and unprofessional in regard to the back office. We were qouted specific amounts and were charged over $300 more. And things did not run the way my partner and I wanted, which is frustrating because we paid for the service. Major issue with extremely frustrating back and forth that was so not worth the money, after 2 overall great moving experiences with Esquire = 2 stars. After we stored stuff with them and had them deliver to the new place, we found that all of our most expensive kitchen items were missing: high-end blender, All-Clad pots & pans, food processor, etc. It was 1-2 boxes with ~$2000 retail value. They did not compensate even after many calls and emails exchanged in 2021 and they're starting a claim then and again now. I can't believe they have complained about this review to Yelp, after they contacted me and asked if they resolved the claim if I could consider removing it, which I said I would. Sandra asked me to provide a full list of missing items with links to the products so they could find the weights (since basic insurance only compensates $0.60/lb). I did provide the full list and now they're pointing to my husband's 2021 summarized description of "pots, pans, cookie sheets" which I said clearly is a summary and not a precise inventory and not even able to be compensated without weight info. I had been so hopeful and willing to give them another chance but now I'm just frustrated again and regretting giving them the chance to give us some small sum that's not worth all the time and headache we've spent on this company. read more

As a result of their excellent service and kind courteous team, I decided to hire them for our long distance move from MA to FL! The teams actually came twice as our move has been in process over weeks so the first pick up to their storage facility made it so easy to then liquidate and pack up for the final items to be picked up! This review is a warning. I used Esquire for a 2.2 mile move. The rate I'd pay was $165 per hour. They arrived, and worked quickly. The entire move was done in less than 5 hours. Then I got the bill for $1,600. First, they will charge you $4 per roll of tape. Cheap, tiny rolls of tape. And when they left, the took the 30 rolls that they were using with them. They found ways to get the bill up an additional $700, and it worked. For instance, they put a cast iron frying pan in a box all by itself. Wrapped it in a ton of paper, and taped the box up as though it contained something fragile. It was absurd. I paid their amount, gladly. Then, when i turned on my TV later that night - it was busted. The TV is a QLED - so I paid a lot for it. I took pictures and video of the breakage. I called, sent them the information. I was told they cared about their customers and they'd get back to me. Guess what? No return E mail. No return call. The movers get paid an extra hour if customers write a good google review. So, it's likely that a lot of the great reviews are fake. I am filing complaints with the state about them. They'll nickel and dime you, then break your stuff, and not even return your calls once you've paid. read more

The initial intake process is extremely efficient and friendly. They provide a quote and availabilities right away, but also don't pressure you to lock it in on the spot but rather shop around and compare prices because they are that confident that the quote they provide is the best value you'll find. They quoted me $350 for a 2 hour job going 5 miles away. I thought that was very reasonable considering all it included. The movers showed up on time, but the job ended up taking them 3 hours even though it was a small 2br with no tables or couches to move and all the small boxes had already been transported in my car. By the end of the move, I was hit with a $550~ invoice charging me for 3 hours PLUS travel time for the movers to get from and back to the base (which I was under the impression after the intake that it was included already in the hourly price and there wasn't a travel fee). The movers themselves were good. And the receptionist was superb (albeit deceptive on pricing). Overall, I went with this company because they seemed to be the best value. However, movers took longer than expected for a moderate load and the receptionist oversold and under delivered on value. I felt like it was a bait and switch and would have liked to been able to leave a more generous tip for the movers, but that extra $200 I was over charged really set me back. The extra hour didn't bother me as much as the lack of transparency on the travel time did. Feels like they intentionally low ball the prices to get hired over the competition and then find ways to inflate the final cost once on site. read more

Esquire responded to my request for cost estimate on Yelp within a short amount of time. They are a bit on the expensive side but so worth it! I had 70+ boxes moved from a three story home to a storage unit last weekend. I had a fair amount of boxes filled with heavy books, expensive artwork, fragile glassware, cookware, antiques, etc. I'm really happy with how responsive they are, how easy it was to get a hold of a human being to talk to and ask questions, and how communicative they were before the move. They sent email reminders, provided contact info and a narrow time window for their arrival so that I could plan. They arrived during the estimated block of time provided and were efficient with getting the job done using their skilled and professional staff. It's such a relief to hire movers and I'm so glad I didn't try to tackle the move by myself. I can't imagine how much pain I'd be in, how many items I would've broke by accident, and how much time it would've taken me to accomplish in comparison. I have never had a problem with movers moving things out of my studios and small 1-bedrooms until Esquire. I hired them to move a tiny 1-bed apt. Most of my things were in boxes already, and I asked them to pack up three bookshelves of papers and books and the utensils and pots in the kitchen. One of them stared into my kitchen drawers, tossing utensils into a box as if he was unsure of what to do, and then walked each medium-sized box, one by one, out to the truck across the street, even though I had lent them my wheeled cart. I was up three flights of stairs, and the sensible thing to do would have been to stack the boxes at the bottom of the building and wheel them in batches them out to the truck. So much time was wasted! Six hours later, they were not done! My bed wasn't even moved. On top of that, they cited a policy of not moving appliances or electronic devices unless they were wrapped and padded. Get this - my new apt was ONE BLOCK AWAY. I've moved five times with five different companies, and they always cushioned and transported my microwave, TV, printer, etc. Not these guys. I had to pony up $800 and then ask two friends to finish the job the following weekend. They filled up a minivan with the rest of my stuff and it was done in two hours. We used Esquire for the first time and so glad we did! They were super responsive via email and text. Our move was local and their quote was very helpful without any hidden fees ($235 and hour with 3 hour min). On the day of our move, which was 90 degrees in Boston, we packed up all the small things and had our trio disassemble the big furniture (bed frame and dining room table). They helped pack a few of the fragile things meticulously and I was super impressed. AND they came 15 mins early. My one suggestion would be to please call 5 mins before arrival to plan for parking. It's a bit minor as you can see the huge truck down the street but since we were saving their parking, it would have been nice to be in the car when they arrived. Would def use them again. read more

After reading the reviews, I had chosen their company because many people had had good communication with the employees, but this was not the case during my moving process. I was not given clear written communication of the insurance and payment terms. When trying to follow up for a response, the only answer I would get is "I'll get a response to you in half an hour." I really wanted to like this company, unfortunately a lot happened that kept on lowering my rating for them. 1st off there was a price change in quotes. It looked like prices were different depending on days that you wanted to moved, it looked like moving during a week day was going to be more expensive than moving on a weekend. 2nd after multiple back and forth we finally agreed on a date, time and price: $90/hr for 3 hours minimum. I live in a 1 bedroom on 1st floor, with 1 bedroom set, 1 couch, 2 stools and mainly boxes. I moved onto the 3rd floor and this seemed to have taken 5 hours and 45 mins. At this point I was exhausted, so I did not make a fuss about it, paid the money and moved on. Now found out that the bed that they assembled, fell apart the minute that they left, some of my furniture they did not put together and I am unable to find the screws that they unscrewed, my roku stick just disappeared, and all the tape and wrapping paper was left in multiple corners of my place while they take their wrapping blankets ... sort of wondered why they were left for me ... their tape and wrapping paper - yes, that last one left a very bad taste in my mouth. As someone who has done 2 cross-country moves and countless other moves in 6 different states, Esquire Moving provided the BEST moving experience I have ever had. I recently moved from from a 4th floor walkup in the North End of Boston to a 3rd floor walkup in Manhattan. Miguel, Josue, and Mario helped me on the Boston side. They arrived 2 hours early on a cold, rainy Saturday morning of a holiday weekend to my apartment in the North End, which is always crowded with tourists and parking is quite tight. They came in a moving van that was too large for the area and went and returned with a smaller moving van very quickly. Miguel, Josue, and Mario were extremely professional, courteous, and efficient, and understood the human element that moving is stressful and did everything to make it go smoothly. They made the entire job seem effortless, which was very reassuring to me. On the NYC side, Alex and a different Miguel helped unload. They showed up promptly at 9 am the NEXT DAY (which was a holiday) and were extremely quick, professional, good natured, and, again, made everything seem effortless. They also reassembled my furniture in no time flat. The fact that the two teams were so professional, organized, courteous, fast, and helpful, and the fact that I got my belongings delivered the next day (despite it being a holiday) in great condition is why I'm leaving a 5-star review. I had a delightful customer experience and will use Esquire Moving again in the future. BUYER BEWARE: completely dissatisfied Dear Esquire Moving, I must tell you we were extremely disappointed with your moving service. We scheduled a cross country move from Massachusetts to Los Angeles. Our pick up date was four days later than scheduled and our delivery date was three days later than scheduled. Our pick up was supposed to be on Wednesday June 23, between 5pm and 7pm. I received a call at 4:43pm that day informing me that the truck would now be coming four days later on Sunday the 27th instead. Our delivery was scheduled for July 13th. I never received updates either by phone or by email. I had to make multiple calls to inquire about the status. When I spoke with Yury on July 10th, I was informed the Truck was in Texas and would definitely be here by the 13th. When I called again to confirm on the 12th, I was informed the truck would now be here on July 15th. No apologies given. When I called again on the 14th to confirm delivery time, Yury said the truck would now not be there till July 16th. Then he started yelling. I had to forcibly argue until he finally put me in contact with the truck driver These delays caused us a loss of tenant rental of two days in Massachusetts, and hotel and living expenses for three days in Los Angeles. Our movers were amazing! We moved from Philly to DC in 2 days and we literally couldn't have done it without them. They packed up everything for us and it all arrived in perfect condition. They were kind, professional, efficient, and punctual! My only word of advice would be to the front office, they didn't seem to provide enough communication to the movers and they were short on packing supplies and just how much they had to pack (to be fair they still did an amazing job which is why I'm still giving 5 stars). I would've preferred a phone call as opposed to filling out the app so there wouldn't be as much miscommunication between the movers and the job they had to do. Also, while it wasn't an issue, I got an email about 18 hours before our move asking if they could reschedule it for 2 hours earlier. I would've preferred to be informed much sooner and not just through email but it worked out just fine. Overall I would absolutely hire them again and you should too! Miguel & Mario were outstanding. They moved us from our tiny one bedroom to a cottage duplex with low ceilings on the 4th of July. They were very timely and efficient with the moving process. They took time to walk through our unit with us and evaluate the furniture that would be wrapped for moving before they began their work. They were very professional, and informed us of any issues they saw with our furniture (a couple of wobbly bookcases that would have been a challenge to move without being disassembled, and a piano that was included in the quote, but would have required an additional mover for safety). They also were excellent when we arrived at our new home, and helped get our dressers up a very narrow stairway with low clearance. Would certainly hire again! read more

Should be taking them to small claims court rather than writing an honest review. Arrived unprepared and not familiar with the job at hand as was requested. Move was far from complete, as several large items were left behind among other things, and crew refused to make a second trip. Had to leave crew at the new home while I drove 80 miles to get furniture etc alone. A full load in my pickup didn't even get 1/4 of what was left behind. Arrived back at old house to find doors were removed and not remounted... simply left for new homeowners to do themselves. Spent an hour doing it myself before loading up some of what was left behind. Crew then refused to wait for me to return. Response to not mounting doors was "it's easy... they can do it". Came home to find large furniture items on wrong floor etc. Took over a week to get a response from the company. Company refused to send a crew to finished the job unless we paid as if we were new clients aside from a 5% discount. A week later, we took the new out of the box to find it smashed. Company never responded. This was July. It's late September and we continue to notice missing items... power tools, 2 brand new expandable step ladders, coins from collection... I'm sure there's more we will notice as we continue to settle into the new home. Was actually robbed of over just under $3000 between missing items and damages. AVOID! You'd do better off hiring a crew of high school kids and paying them under the table. read more

The process was very quick (not more than ~30/45 minutes), and they even were able to carry up a very large package sitting in my lobby that happened to arrive that day as well. Overall my experience was smooth and the move was a success- considering I booked during the busiest time of the year and relatively last-minute, as well. This company at first seemed easy to do business with but after they did a FaceTime walk through of my 2 bedroom condo they quoted the job plus $300 per month for temporary storage. At the end of the moving process they said their was much more stuff then anticipated and quoted over $700 per month for storage plus a substantial up-charge for the actual move. After I called the office they did negotiate a 6 month solution for something in between then escalating to $700 on month 7. I showed up at their storage site unannounced and found our furniture piled up in a disheveled mess with heavy items on top of fragile items. I ended up having them move our items to another storage provider for better access and half the cost but noticed a number of our items were damaged. One of our dining room cane mahogany chairs had a hole in the cane with scratches and abrasions on the wood portion as well. All of these chairs were recently re-canned for $400 each prior. I had them call the office and send a picture and the driver was instructed to have me to file a claim. I don't have much faith in getting any restitution here since I never received a follow up call from them on the issue. I would have expected a more proactive approach when it was apparently clear that the item was damaged in transport or storage. I noticed a few other of those dining room chairs with abrasions on the corners as well. All of the paintings and gold plated mirrors were laid flat with items on top instead of vertical storage and not treated with the respect that they deserved. Even when loading up the new storage space they laid an expensive oil painting flat on top of boxes then threw a large hassock on top. Not sure if it was damaged because I was too distraught to open up the box and packaging to look. They also dropped a box of china in the truck that was marked fragile breaking a number of items and instead of looking to see if they damaged anything they just ignored it and kept going. I didn't discover this until they left after opening the box they dropped. I have paid these folks about $6,000 over the last 6 months and they have damaged at least if not twice that amount. All in all, I feel totally abused from this experience. read more

We regret our decision to work with Esquire Moving & Storage: items arrived late (or not at all), communication was frustratingly poor and misleading, and we have an unresolved complaint with the Better Business Bureau. We selected the company for an interstate move from Rhode Island to Texas at the end of July. We specified our moving dates in writing, took our own detailed inventory, and requested receipts for every financial transaction with the company. However, Yury R, the manager, rescheduled the delivery date by half a week *while the move was in progress* and never said a word to us about it. We only learned of the change when we arrived in Texas, grew concerned about the late hour on the specified delivery day, and eventually called the company ourselves to request an update. A full month later, we are also still waiting to receive a box of artwork and other personal effects that the company tells us was mistakenly delivered to another customer in Florida. Esquire states that the customer will arrange shipment of our box, but they have been repeating this claim for over three weeks, and we have no evidence of concrete actions taken. The biggest issue I had was that regardless of the fact we're in a pandemic, multiple movers repeatedly tried to remove their masks in our home which is actively dangerous. For this reason alone I could not recommend them. Very unfriendly, very rough with our furniture, really lazy and haphazard placement of large items we wouldn't be able to move ourselves, were unwilling to help us work with some larger issues so we're going to have to work with another moving company to remedy these issues . Manager was also kinda a jerk and not helpful. They got shit done quickly but again very rough with our furniture and we repeatedly had to ask them to stop and be careful. read more

The team at the Boston branch was so helpful. I had to have a couch hoisted up to a third floor apartment and the team of three guys, Ryan, Marion, and Freddy came determined. There were some complications due to the building's design but these guys were quick problem solvers and made sure that everything was safely wrapped and new solutions thought through in advance. They were efficient and had a good time working together as a team even though this was a bit tricky of a job! I was impressed with their coordination and team work that led to a job well done, good moods all around even on a rainy day. Will be using them again when it is time to hoist the couch back out! She also made a note of the problems I faced and assured me that this will not happen in the future. I appreciated their call and the fact that they care and want to keep improving.
