Drinks: Really interesting and unique drinks! They have a good variety of cocktails compared to most places. Also pretty flexible. I asked for a Midnight Sun easy on the coconut and they were able to accommodate me. The Ube Moon and Rosemary Fizz were our favorites. My partner also enjoyed the Ruled by Venus. I would recommend any of them but Ube Moon is sweet, Ruled by Venus is tart, Rosemary is herby and refreshing, and Midnight is creamy and balanced. Also tried the chips and dill dip which was AMAZING. Service: They were super busy but the servers did a great job of making sure they checked in and answering questions. They also did an awesome job of putting up with some rather difficult other tables we saw. Props to all the servers and 5 stars to them. Ambiance: This is really the only area where maybe I thought improvement might occur. The decor was cool and gave a modern "jungle room" vibe. But the seating was not the most comfortable or logical for navigating. That's really the only thing that stops me from giving 5 stars is that honestly sitting on an MCM ottoman is really uncomfortable after a bit. So is sitting on plastic chairs. Gemini Room has such a good happy hour! Came here after work to catch up with a friend and loved it. We got the fries, chicken, and caesar salad. All of it was super yummy, highly recommend getting the chicken! I got a well drink ($5 on their happy hour menu) and the bartender had a heavy hand so I definitely got my money's worth! A friend and I were on our way to find a nightcap martini spot recommended to us but were stopped in our tracks passing by the Gemini Room. Initially attracted by the super chill atmosphere and retro vibes, we were ultimately swayed by the advertised $10 Martini Monday special. Destiny! Dirty gin martini was not the best I've had but it was decent. Staff was pretty hands off. We ordered at the bar and they delivered the drinks to our table. Looks like they have food as well but we'd just eaten dinner so didn't look over the menu. I'm pretty disappointed to leave such a low review for a place I've enjoyed going to for a while. My friends and I went on a semi-busy night, we ordered a few espresso martinis and shots on our own tabs. We noticed that our totals weren't adding up-- our friend ordered a single espresso martini and her bill nearly came to $30 (we weren't charged until after we left the bar and at time of purchase no receipt was given). We called them the next day to ask them for a breakdown and they said they have a "new POS system" and couldn't review the bill; they suggested we call her bank to dispute it (which we weren't able to because they didn't give her a receipt). This was my friend's first night out together (it was a special occasion) and when they asked me what bars would fit the vibe I immediately thought of this place. This is a bar I've been raving about to my friends and it's frustrating to me that this happened when I was very excited to take them to such a pretty place with great drinks and quick service. While we understand that they were busy and there may have been protocol that we weren't aware of, it just felt pretty shady that they couldn't have been more transparent on the breakdown or at least a bit more understanding. read more

Great drinks and a lovely ambiance! I absolutely love the decor, other people described it as "vibey" and honestly, that's probably the best description of this place. It has a mid century modern aesthetic, with velvet chairs and cushions and lots of plants. We went here for drinks at night, but I can totally see how this operates as a cafe during the day. My only complaint is that the music is very loud, it's hard to hear the people you're with. There were times where the music would die down during song transitions and I would realize that I was pretty much shouting just so my friend could hear me. Great music taste though I will say! A good happy hour hangout. When I first entered Gemini Room, it made me believe that Harry Styles designed the space. It was such a relaxed and laid back space. I caught up with friends for some drinks and snacks. I think it was the perfect place to get drinks in Cap Hill. This should definitely be a spot to bar hop or have happy hour. The drink I got was the Midnight Sun with Pineapple, orange juice, and a pea flower rum float. It was delicious and strong! I thought it was the perfect amount of sweetness for me while still being able to taste other aspects of the drink. To pair with the drinks we got the truffle fries, meatballs, fried ravioli, and chicken bites. These appetizers were delicious. Especially the truffle fries with the aioli sauce. I highly recommend. I also really enjoyed the chicken bites. The bartender was very kind and welcoming. Unfortunately she was the only one at the time taking orders and checking IDs so it was a little bit slower. Came here pretty early on a Saturday afternoon so we were seated right away. The vibes and ambiance of this place are so fun. Loved the decor, very retro / 70s vibe if I had to put a year on it. To drink, I had the "Mercury in Retrograde" and then the "Gemini Season" (very cantaloupe-y so if you don't like cantaloupe then this won't be for you). Overall the drinks were okay, nothing spectacular. The service was slightly on the slower side because at that time it was only one person serving everyone, but she was fantastic, nice and apologetic and we weren't in a rush so it was absolutely no big deal. There was some mishaps because their soda gun wasn't working, but our waitress was patient in communicating with us as she was the middle person between the customers and the bar. Once, we got our orders in; they came around 5 minutes. I got a fancy Shirley which was their take on a Shirley temple with toschi cherry syrup with lemon-lime soda. My husband and I sat in a mostly empty bar for about 20 minutes before we were acknowledged. After ordering, we were forced to close out immediately. Does anybody else find it strange that you are expected to tip prior your drink arriving? I would expect this at a fast/casual spot but I don't think that's the vibe Gemini is going for. Went here for a birthday on a Saturday afternoon and we were served by the male bartender with shoulder length blond hair. (just fyi im not only rating it 1 star just because the service was bad, but the drinks weren't great either). I asked if there were any birthday specials since we were celebrating a birthday and the answer we got was "Yeah, buy some drinks". The birthday person and I were kind of irked by that answer. Idk about anyone else but at least for me, it takes some courage for me to ask for things like that because I don't like asking for perks like "free things", but because I was celebrating someone's special day, I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. His answer and tone had no sympathy and just shut me down, without any acknowledgement to the birthday person. I completely understand if you don't have any birthday specials, but there are much better customer service friendly ways to answer. While there are a handful of standard bar top tables and chairs, lots of the lounge seating is made up of an assortment of couches, comfy chairs, and smaller tables/surfaces. They open at 9am with a full espresso bar and daytime kitchen menu. The breakfast burrito and power grain bowl are particularly awesome. I mean, it's easy to make a breakfast burrito, but when you knock it out of the park like they do here, that is something to be proud of. A full bar is also available, which makes it one of the earliest spots in the neighborhood to snag a cocktail or beer. At night the vibe changes over to much more of a cocktail lounge with a different food menu as well. 21+ after 5pm. There are a few beers and wines available, but the house cocktails are the primary beverage focus. And along those lines, the mocktails menu is legit too. It can get pretty busy on a Fri or Sat night! So you might have to wait to get seated - especially if you're with a larger group. But totally worth it.
