Cute cafe w/ English vibes, walking distance to the Swedish First Hill campus. We had a drop, ice tea, sausage roll and the spinach rolls. Drinks and food were good. Great place to study, read, or have a meeting or catch up with friends. I do enjoy the fact that it's not too loud that I can hear my partner or concentrate. Stopped by in the morning. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. You order at the front with the staff member. I got an iced Americano that was really good. Another Instagram hyped spot. I went on a Tuesday around 2 PM, and it was extremely crowded. Luckily, there was just one table available. The place gets very noisy, which made it hard to relax. I ordered a latte it was meh, nothing special that would make me want to come back. With all the noise, I couldn't enjoy my coffee in peace. Beautiful interior, friendly staff, great location and no irritating work from home people taking up a ton of real state and on loud calls. A cute little low key cafe with a suggested 90 min per person/table. The WiFi wasn't the best for me but I connected to my phone and knocked out some digital errands over a great cortado. The building is beautiful inside. The architecture and decor is really lovely inside this historic building. The service was also very kind and patient. They don't have a lot of food on their menu or bakery case, which is maybe the only downside for me. The drinks were lovely though and it looks like a fantastic space to plop down and read or work, especially if you can snag a window seat or one of the comfy armchairs. I believe they're dog friendly in summer when they have patio chairs but there weren't any out and available during winter when we were there today, so we took ours to go. read more

Absolutely stunning cafe with a historic Italian interior, plants, and gorgeous architecture. I love what this cafe did with the area, preserving the charm and history that you can feel as you walk in. There is ample seating, but given how popular this place is, it can get full quickly. I came on a weekday during the day and was able to easily get seated. If you're lucky, you can even snag street parking. I love that it's right by the 2 bus stop too. In terms of coffee, it's not just looks but the coffee is excellent. I had a latte with regular milk, and it was perfectly executed and delicious with nutty, slightly dark notes and a full body. They also serve Aussie meat pies - the sausage one was so delicious! Very flaky and richly buttery crust, and a hearty, fatty meat filling that was savory and balanced really well against the crust. The employees are really friendly and warm, and it feels like a place filled with regulars and local charm despite being so popular on social media. Definitely give this place a visit, especially on a sunny day! read more

This is a neighbourhood jewel in First Hill. Tucked away inside an old apartment building, you step inside and you are immediately transported to a coffee house reminiscent of Vienna - columns, high spacious ceilings, bright lights, and friendly staff eager to serve a handcrafted beverage to accompany various social or introverted chill activities. Spectacular interior and charming service. I ordered the cafe latte with no syrup and it tasted great. The body was creamy and smooth with low to zero acidity and great coffee, nutty after taste. Once I entered I felt as if I was transformed into another place in Spain. The decor and architecture of this place is amazing. First impressions walking into the establishment, is that I'm loving the decor. The place is housed on the ground floor of an historic building. The interior is beautiful with beautiful columns, and gorgeous furniture, and filled with local patrons. The not so great about the establishment, is it did not feel very welcoming by the staff member behind the counter. We came to order 3 coffees to go but we found a vacant area to set for a spell. Our person who took our order kinda gave the vibe that we were a burden upon him. There was no energy in the interaction, nor did I feel he cared that we were looking forward to trying a new place. I had a cold brew with half an half, TBH it was less than meh. The coffee tasted less than fresh and lacked the punch of a good coffee. Again, it's a beautiful shop on the interior, but I'd take a hard pass on buying coffee there again. read more

Great music, great coffee, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. The space is super cozy, I felt so relaxed I could've easily taken a nap on the green sofa. The cafe features high ceilings and east-facing windows that let in plenty of natural sunlight. The design is beautiful and there's a generous amount of seating. The food was great! I got a caffe mocha and ordered it extra sweet. If you have a sweet tooth make sure to do so because here the coffee really shines through and is bitter. I also got a blueberry scone and it was delicious! The staff were super accommodating of my wheelchair. This was also just a really pretty cafe. Downsides: the front door is very narrow with a bump and I needed help getting through. The front counter is also not at a good height for wheelchair users or anyone short. I accidentally stumbled upon The Piedmont Café in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle one recent Sunday morning and what a wonderful surprise! I was drawn by the beautiful tile work on the exterior of the building and wanted to see more of it. As soon as I walked inside and saw the grand ceiling and Spanish architecture, I was immediately transported back to my travels in Barcelona, Spain. I decided to order a light snack (Sausage Roll) and beverage (a hot Dirty Chai) and I was lucky enough to snag a table. What a cool place to hang out and people watch. The snack and drink I ordered were satisfying and the service was great-- the staff even delivered my order to my table. I wish I could have stayed longer. I thought, "What a treasure this place is. I visited piedmont cafe on a sunday to study with a friend! There's a decent amount of seating which accommodated the steady stream of customers. Interior-wise we thought the space was stunning, and gave very european vibes! It's definitely a charming place to study or read. I ordered a 16oz iced matcha latte ($7) which was just okay. I tasted the vanilla(?) milk a lot while the matcha taste wasn't very strong. With that said, my friend's chai latte was really good! One thing that's noteworthy is that there is free wifi, but it constantly kicked me off. I could always reconnect but it was just a bit annoying. I know the cafe has either a 1.5 or 2 hr guest limit (most likely enforced when it's busy) so maybe that's why. Traffic was non existent, found nearby street parking on this frosty, sunny Sunday morning (1/26/25). Piedmont Cafe is located on Seattle's First Hill neighborhood at Seneca and Summit. Look for the Tuscany Apartments awning and distinct entrance. First impression upon entering was of amazement. Such a beautiful cafe! High ceilings, plentiful natural light, lovely seating configurations, and healthy foliage. Overall, an interesting vibe of preserved interior architecture, urban cafe, and upbeat overhead music. Welcoming counter person/barista. I had ordered a 16oz mocha and a pain au chocolat (looked like a chocolate cornetto from Macrina). He kindly brought each item to my table. Beautiful latte art atop a well crafted mocha. Nicely warmed up pastry too. This is a well situated cafe for the First Hill residents from surrounding apartments and condos. This was evident for several walk-in customers. After being onsite for an hour, adjacent seating had filled up. Most likely during the weekdays, medical staff and patients from nearby hospitals and clinics also seek this out as a relaxing oasis. There's some street parking available but I think that it's geared more towards pediatrician traffic. I ordered a 16oz hot chai latte and enjoyed it in the cafe. It came in a nice large mug, which gave it such a homey feel. Heads up, I think that most of the drinks are usually served hot and they have a small iced drink menu. The seating is very comfortable, I saw a few people working on their laptops, catching up with friends, or reading a book. They do have signage that seating is limited to 90 minutes and to be courteous if you see people looking for a spot to sit. read more

I got an iced pistachio latte and a sausage roll. The sausage roll was flaky (maybe a bit too flaky...) but was a good and filling snack. Was not a big fan of the sauce however. The pistachio latte was alright, nothing I havent had before. The real beauty of this place lies in the atmosphere. The architecture is beautiful and so many people around me were studying. It reminded me a lot of the Spanish architecture of my hometown. The plants are plush and green, you can tell they really take care of them (unless they're fake of course). This is a really good spot for students or people working remotely. The servers were also very nice and attentive. It took a while for the sausage roll to come but when it did, it was nice and warm. Would come back here multiple times again because of the vibes and also the decent drinks and food. read more

I always enjoy the feel of the Piedmont Cafe. The fact that it's in a historic building just adds to it. And I like their lattes a lot. But what really impressed me today was the service. I am 70+ and use two canes to get around. I got in line at the door and the guy in charge (owner? manager?) came over and said he had a place for me. He seated me, took my order, and took my payment. Another staff member brought my latte (their standard practice). Yes, I'm sure it was good customer service, but it was also very, very kind. That's worth a lot. read more

I really hate to leave negative reviews but I'm shocked by my experience at this coffee shop. I was journaling at a table when one of the staff, a burly man, came over and harshly said they don't allow outside food or drinks. It was my first time there--I had no idea that I couldn't bring any outside drinks, and I was definitely planning on buying something from here as well. The man continued staring at me for the duration of my time there and made me feel very intimated, even after I bought something. A few other reviews from people of color and negative service make me think it was much deeper than just an outside drink. Won't be going here again or recommending it. read more

i think this might be my new favorite cafe!!! i came here on a saturday around noon and it was pretty busy!! i sat on the couch and then moved to one of the tables when they opened up. i ordered a matcha latte and i really enjoyed it. it was smooth and creamy and had pretty good flavor. the staff here are so kind as well. it was a great place to get work done and the space itself is beautiful with large windows for natural lighting. will definitely be coming back! read more

Beautiful space! Every detail is visually pleasing and makes for a comfortable spot to grab coffee, pastry, and a good book. After purchase the coffee took a while but there was a good amount of people in front of me. They brought the coffee and pastry to me which was a really sweet touch. Coffee was amazing. I got the chicken roll, which was ok and didn't seem to have dairy, which is what I was going for. Pastries are limited and go fast with the crowd. Space is limited. Don't be afraid to share a table with someone and don't hog a table all to yourself! Also, I got there around 11am and it was a nice quiet morning.
