I felt very welcome coming in and having their coffee here from start to finish! I came here on a Monday morning around 11am while I was in the area. This is in First Hill where parking is atrociously hard but I managed to snag a 2-hour free parking spot down along Washington St. From there, you can just cut through Yesler Terrace Park to reach the front. Inside is very cute, cozy and calm in general with some bright colors that are accentuated when it's sunny like my visit. Staff was very helpful in introducing some of the drinks they're well-known for and recommendations based on what I was in the mood for. I got a hot La Reina latte with regular milk for this visit. The rose petals on top are edible, and added a slightly bitter complement to the coffee and creamy texture of the coffee itself. It was appropriately sweet, and had a nice aromatic touch to it from the rose syrup and petals. This was such a great visit and I can't wait to come back here for another coffee and even some of their breakfast items!

I'm genuinely ECSTATIC to report that Café Calaveras has opened in my building! Watching Tougo Coffee close last year was a bummer, so seeing this space come back to life with something this vibrant feels special. Café Calaveras is a Queer Latina-owned bakery centered on coffee, culture, and community, and you feel that the second you walk in. The staff are warm, welcoming, and clearly proud of what they're building. It doesn't feel corporate or performative. It feels intentional. NO ICE HERE EXCEPT IN THE DRINKS! They serve coffee, pastries, breakfast tacos, and melts. I tried the Fruity Pebbles concha, and it was fantastic! For anyone who doesn't know, a concha is a traditional Mexican sweet bread with a soft, fluffy interior and a crunchy, sugar shell topping. This one had a playful Fruity Pebbles twist that somehow worked perfectly without being overwhelming. They also allow pets, which makes it even better for those of us who live nearby and want to pop in with our dogs. Seattle needs more spaces like this. Queer-owned. Latina-owned. Community-driven. Good coffee. Good vibes. Actually welcoming. I'm really proud this exists in my neighborhood!

The vibes here were excellent! Such a great cafe! This is a really cool place to work or read. I would definitely come back just for the vibes and decor alone but the staff are lovely and the mexi matcha was delicious! Highly recommend!

Quite the Yesler Terrace transformation versus my tenure splitting my time working at UW and Harborview Hall decades ago. Lots of updated urban dwellings and connecting vistas to the First Hill, CID, and CD neighborhoods. Cafe Calaveras took over the former Tougo Coffee. Street parking can be a challenge, but it is located near the streetcar route and Metro bus 60 along Yesler. It sure was a popular spot on this partly sunny, late morning Sunday. Just about every seat was taken, but I was able to find a window facing seat. There was a constant line behind me. Enjoyable inviting vibe. Large windows with natural light, assorted seating configurations, healthy foliage, decent overhead music that blended well with the many ongoing convos. Welcoming, experienced counter staff, who were able to handle the volume of orders. I tried a 16oz mocha and sausage, egg, cheddar cheese breakfast melt. The latter hit the spot as the first meal of the day. Glad I had the opportunity to stop by this vibrant indie cafe!

Cute space with a good amount of seating available. The vibes are very comfy and the staff was super helpful in helping answer any questions and making recommendations! Only thing is that street parking was pretty tough in this area. Bidi bidi brew brew: the ube foam was creamy and tasty, the sprinkles were a nice touch because it gave the drink a little crunch factor.

Large cozy space with high ceilings. Friendly staff and moderately priced food and drinks. If you step outside it comes with a cool view overlooking parts of the city. Not much ample street parking in front, but If you go around the block you can find street parking. I ended up ordering a sausage breakfast melt. With pepper jack cheese as well as a hot horchata latte with oat milk. First impression of the drink. Nice temperature, appreciate the cinnamon spice on top to yield an even more warming feeling. The horchata comes through and I think it's a balanced drink. Not too sweet. The breakfast melt. Just enough food to hit the spot but not make you full. A decent snack. I do enjoy that the cafe has a bunch of different sauces and accoutrements to pair with the melt. I prefer it with the different salsas they have available. I vary it up with alternating bites. All in all not bad, but nothing to write home about. I'd pop by if I was in the area.

I met with a friend for a mid morning tea/coffee here and this place felt good. The cafe is vibrant but not overwheleming. The plants and decor remind me of home. The staff were friendly. I had a jamaica tea, the color was so vibrant and pretty! Their menú of drinks have fun names and plenty of options. I'll be back to try more! Just note that parking can be challenge for the are but I was able to find free street parking both times! Update: I came back to try a new drink. The café was busy which was exciting for a new coffee shop!

Tasty drinks, friendly service, & cute decor! There's seating if you want to get some work done. So glad they're conveniently located in First Hill

Such a cute spot! Came for coffee and breakfast, the breakfast sandwich was delicious and the coffee was so good. The staff were super friendly too! I've seen some fun events pop up across their Instagram page so the community aspect here seems great. Fabulous addition to the Seattle cafe scene.

I love the vibe of this cafe - friendly baristas, beautiful decoration, cozy seating, and there was even a dog bed available. I got the La Reina Latte hot, with whole milk. It's gorgeously topped with edible rose petals (I accidentally ate a little piece and it was bitter ), and it's just the right balance of sweetness and creaminess.

    Best coffee!

An adorable coffee shop. The coffee is delicious. I'm studying Spanish and I learned a new word today, that I can't wait to share with my tutor...Pendejos. Haha!

I was stoked to find that what was once a little coffee pop-up trailer on the pier had opened a brick n mortar shop. This is a Latina owned cafe with fabulous Latinoamericana influence in the design, art, colors and more. Plenty of seating and plugs for remote workers. The coffee is always good--I recommend the Marzipan Latte. They have some small breakfast options too. I'm happy to see a business opening up in Yesler Terrace neighborhood.

They clearly care about their image as they offer a free mug for first-time customers with an email sign-up. The drinks here are ok, but they average between $8-$10 each. I think the pricing is just much too high. You're paying for the vibes, not for a great cup of coffee. The matcha we tried was mediocre. There are so many other great places for coffee in Seattle, for just a fraction of the price. I think Storyville is preying on tourists visiting the market. They probably have to charge that much to keep the 8 employees milling about behind the counter employed. The space does have lots of seating, but it was nearly full during our early afternoon visit. Save your money, find another great local coffee spot!

This was on a Sunday afternoon close to 5pm, and there were still so many people occupying nearly every seat inside. I did come back to try their matcha matcha drink only to find it gone from their current menu as of May 2026. Instead, their turon matcha immediately caught my eye, as it has banana and I've been obsessed with banana-flavored toppings and puree on my matcha lately. It has matcha and house banana puree, both of which work well together. The tiny layer of house banana puree has all the flavor, especially when you mix the whole drink together. Very refreshing, and their ceremonial matcha's grassy tones still came out despite the banana puree being just as strong in the drink. Their matcha here comes pretty close to making it to the highest spots on my list of my most favorite matcha places in Seattle. Even if it isn't on the top of that list, their drinks are still 5+ star quality.
