The vibes here were excellent! Such a great cafe! This is a really cool place to work or read. I would definitely come back just for the vibes and decor alone but the staff are lovely and the mexi matcha was delicious! Highly recommend!

Tasty drinks, friendly service, & cute decor! There's seating if you want to get some work done. So glad they're conveniently located in First Hill

Large cozy space with high ceilings. Friendly staff and moderately priced food and drinks. If you step outside it comes with a cool view overlooking parts of the city. Not much ample street parking in front, but If you go around the block you can find street parking. I ended up ordering a sausage breakfast melt. With pepper jack cheese as well as a hot horchata latte with oat milk. First impression of the drink. Nice temperature, appreciate the cinnamon spice on top to yield an even more warming feeling. The horchata comes through and I think it's a balanced drink. Not too sweet. The breakfast melt. Just enough food to hit the spot but not make you full. A decent snack. I do enjoy that the cafe has a bunch of different sauces and accoutrements to pair with the melt. I prefer it with the different salsas they have available. I vary it up with alternating bites. All in all not bad, but nothing to write home about. I'd pop by if I was in the area.

Approaching cafe along Yesler (11/2/25)

Quite the Yesler Terrace transformation versus my tenure splitting my time working at UW and Harborview Hall decades ago. Lots of updated urban dwellings and connecting vistas to the First Hill, CID, and CD neighborhoods. Cafe Calaveras took over the former Tougo Coffee. Street parking can be a challenge, but it is located near the streetcar route and Metro bus 60 along Yesler. It sure was a popular spot on this partly sunny, late morning Sunday. Just about every seat was taken, but I was able to find a window facing seat. There was a constant line behind me. Enjoyable inviting vibe. Large windows with natural light, assorted seating configurations, healthy foliage, decent overhead music that blended well with the many ongoing convos. Welcoming, experienced counter staff, who were able to handle the volume of orders. I tried a 16oz mocha and sausage, egg, cheddar cheese breakfast melt. The latter hit the spot as the first meal of the day. Glad I had the opportunity to stop by this vibrant indie cafe!

I met with a friend for a mid morning tea/coffee here and this place felt good. The cafe is vibrant but not overwheleming. The plants and decor remind me of home. The staff were friendly. I had a jamaica tea, the color was so vibrant and pretty! Their menú of drinks have fun names and plenty of options. I'll be back to try more! Just note that parking can be challenge for the are but I was able to find free street parking both times! Update: I came back to try a new drink. The café was busy which was exciting for a new coffee shop!

Such a cute spot! Came for coffee and breakfast, the breakfast sandwich was delicious and the coffee was so good. The staff were super friendly too! I've seen some fun events pop up across their Instagram page so the community aspect here seems great. Fabulous addition to the Seattle cafe scene.

La Reina Latte

I love the vibe of this cafe - friendly baristas, beautiful decoration, cozy seating, and there was even a dog bed available. I got the La Reina Latte hot, with whole milk. It's gorgeously topped with edible rose petals (I accidentally ate a little piece and it was bitter ), and it's just the right balance of sweetness and creaminess.

I was stoked to find that what was once a little coffee pop-up trailer on the pier had opened a brick n mortar shop. This is a Latina owned cafe with fabulous Latinoamericana influence in the design, art, colors and more. Plenty of seating and plugs for remote workers. The coffee is always good--I recommend the Marzipan Latte. They have some small breakfast options too. I'm happy to see a business opening up in Yesler Terrace neighborhood.

One visit was earlier in the morning, and the place was packed. The line was nearly out the door. The second time was later in the morning; the pastries were wiped out, and the place was still decently full of coffee drinkers. I ended up visiting the second time because of their very cool merch selection, and I regretted not buying a shirt I liked the first time. I only tried the espresso here, though they had many other tasty-sounding drinks and delicious-looking pastries. The espresso was not bitter, well-balanced, and at a great temperature. They serve it right with sparkling water on the side. Absolutely perfect! Out of all of the coffee spots in Seattle, Anchorhead Coffee is worth the visit for sure!

HONEY BUNCHES OF COLD BREW! GET THAT!!!…read more that is all i need to say, this coffee was soooo good. maybe because my favorite cereal is honey bunches of oats, but it is literally the coffee version of that cereal. Its nice and sweet, hints of honey, and the coffee flavor is not so strong where the bitterness overpowers the flavor. I wish they had more locations outside of Seattle, this place is truly soooo good. However, the cup is small and its a bit on the pricier side for the size you get, but its a great coffee shop to try when youre in Seattle!

The staff was so sweet, drinks were ready quick, and the overall vibe of the cafe is perfect for relaxing and studying. I also love the selection of Asian goods and local artist-made stickers they have by the register (I got a totoro sticker)! I first tried the turon matcha which I thought was good but had a mild banana flavor. I was expecting more of a caramelized flavor but I still thought it was good. The next day, I ordered the matcha einspanner. Their housemade yoka whip was so yummy and added the perfect amount of sweetness to the matcha latte. Overall, the matcha here is smooth and both drinks weren't too sweet.

I got a Matcha Einspanner which was absolutely amazing. It was creamy and the Matcha flavor was amazing and it is a very large drink for the price compared to other matcha places. I wish I lived in Seattle so that I could come back and try their other tea drinks as they all look delicious and it made me so happy that they have Boba and toppings . The inside is very mid-century modern and beautiful. Lots of spaces to work from and outlets. They also have a little mini market where they sell Matcha among other things. I loved everything about my experience there and would absolutely go back. The employees were also so sweet.

Definitely a busy spot so try to come here on a weekday if you don't like waiting! (Like me..lol) The pork banh-mi is delicious here as well as the Hawaiian roll breakfast sliders. I need to get around to trying the other food options. Not the biggest fan of the spam musubi they have, it always seems over steamed to me, I wish they were made to order like the other food options! Phe is worth the hype, and worth the wait too if you decide to go on a weekend. The space is super cute and it's nice to have a space for young people to gather and hang out.

I ended up trying their honeycomb coffee instead and WOW... so good. Perfectly balanced, slightly sweet, and super smooth. My boyfriend got the black sesame coffee and loved it. I'm personally not a black sesame fan, but if you are, it's definitely worth trying. The second time I came back, I finally got my hands on the earl grey matcha and OMG GET IT. It's so unique and flavorful, and everything just works together perfectly. You really taste the earl grey and the nutty matcha yumm. Only downside? Parking can be a struggle... but I'm not even kidding when I say I will parallel park every single time for that drink. Definitely a spot I'll keep coming back to.

I've had a black sesame Matcha from somewhere else before, and the sesame flavor was very light, so that was what I was expecting, but was met with a very strong sesame flavor. I was not a huge fan as it felt overpowering and I couldn't taste the matcha. However, this is just a personal preference thing and if you like black sesame you should definitely try it!
