This is one of my boyfriend's favourite cafes and I love coming here with him. The baristas are so friendly and welcoming and I love the large windows and selection of pastries. I usually order a mocha and I love how perfectly the chocolate is incorporated into my drink every time. Zingaro has some of the best flavours and it's always fun to see what they have available seasonally. Today I ordered a Rocca Mocha and I enjoyed the fun complexity of the flavours. My boyfriend is a tea drinker and loves the huge selection of tea they have here, but the lychee tea is his go-to. They also have such a unique variety, it's always interesting to see what new combinations are on the menu. One of my favourite things about this place is the fact that they're one of the few cafes in this area that has both good breakfast pastries and good coffee. The vibe is so casual and welcoming. Every single person I've met there is amazing, but I believe it's the owners I've met a couple times that always surprise me. I'm not use to meeting such outgoing, interesting, and kind people these days. I loved that they chatted with customers, each other, and made the day feel alive. As for the coffee, I normally drink a plain hot americano if not just drip coffee. Normally, you'd pay what, $5 for a 16oz black coffee? Not here. I was so excited the first time I came in, ordered two coffees expecting to pay maybe $12, and it came out to MAYBE $5? I was so surprised that I mentioned it, both the owners explained that they like to keep the costs down for the simple stuff. Of course, they explain, if you order some intricately detailed drink, yes it may cost $6 for a drink, but if you ask me that's more than reasonable! Out of character, I tried their Roca Mocha around Valentine's Day! It was delicious, the treat I needed and a chair was calling my name. I even got some work done there that day. I stopped in because I used to live in Lower Queen Anne and remembered this café from when it first opened. I was hoping to find a quiet place to work. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was very loud. When I politely asked if voices could be kept down so I could concentrate, the response was defensive and escalated into a personal comment about how I work. The owner explained that the person at the counter is his partner and that this is the culture of the café. I chose to gather my things and leave. If you're looking for a lively, conversational environment, this may suit you. If you're looking for a calm place to focus or work, it did not feel like a good fit for me. read more

When I was pondering the menu, I met the owner who told me "no substituting" on the menu. I was skeptical but after trying the Fire-Bird was so good it literally changed my life. Imagine the years wasted on therapy when all I needed for internal happiness was a sandwich. Digging this ambient place!! We were greeted with smiles as we walked in, which is always nice. The worker was super sweet and patient with us (as we were a big group) I ordered a vanilla chai latte with almond milk, and their banana bread warmed up! Unfortunately, the chai was a miss for me. It had a watered down flavor, and the chai was very faint- I'm not sure if it's because I got it with almond milk though. The banana bread was yummy! There were some little chunks of banana inside which was a delight, and it was nice and moist. They also don't skimp out on the portion- that thing was big! I wanted a coffee shop near tourist-central and some place that isn't a chain. Found Caffee Zingaro. We all had a drink and a breakfast burrito. Definitely not cheap, but on par with the rest of the Pacific Northwest (how do you guys afford to live out there?) We each ordered our favorite coffee shop drinks: cappuccino (very good), vanilla rose late (very good), iced American (tasty but way too much ice - only about three sips and it was a very hot day - I really wanted some fluids not just ice cubes), and a London fog (way too bland and flavorless). We also got burritos. My fellow travelers had sausage and egg and I had the curry because I'm allergic to eggs. They were all ok but small for the price and not particularly inventive. While the drinks were fine and the food was food. The ambiance is nice and dark, there are plants growing, art is hanging on the walls, and charming dog companions there with human patrons. It's the quintessential old school Seattle coffee house vibe. It was a relatively quick walk to the touristy stuff. It's close enough to walk, but far enough to Uber if you want to save your steps for later. I'd go again. read more

Can't be beat. The green tea latte tasted like any other matcha latte, I guess there's really only one way to make it. In other words, it's good, but I liked the broken umbrella more. If you're looking for an authentic Seattle coffee place ...this may be it. Granted I didn't get around as much as I'd like and most breakfast places I went to had jet fuel for coffee. I hadn't found a great coffee place in all the years I've visited Seattle believe it or not. I've had to settle for Starbucks which isn't ya know the best in a place that boasts its coffee credentials. That said, I was able to get a oat milk pumpkin iced latte. Yeah, I said it. It was strong and good. Their breakfast sandwiches and burritos were a'ight, small so if you're hungry you may need something else. My friends and I had purchased tickets for the Chihuly Garden & Glass Museum on a Sunday morning so we were looking to grab some coffee & a bite to eat beforehand. In searching for cafes within walking distance we stumbled upon Zingaro and thought the photos and menu looked promising. We met around 10:15 AM and it wasn't overly crowded. I ordered an iced matcha latte, apple strudel, and sausage burrito. Iced matcha latte: sadly this was quite disappointing. I saw the barista add a green/brown colored powder to the cup and didn't have a great feeling about the drink. Once I received the drink, it was missing the hallmark green color and clear matcha taste that I look for in matcha lattes. I asked if I could swap it out for a different drink and decided to order an iced broken umbrella. While I don't normally drink coffee due to a low caffeine tolerance, the broken umbrella was a huge step up from the matcha latte. The sausage burrito and apple strudel were ok! Nothing too special about either. Overall, I was pretty disappointed with Zingaro in terms of taste and quality. Thankfully, it wasn't too pricey, but I would likely opt for a different cafe in the future. read more

I want to love this place but I am consistently unsatisfied with my coffee's taste. I have tried a variety of drink types at Zingaro and it's extremely hit or miss. Usually I have to go 'doctor' my drink at home to make it taste good. The staff is super nice but the drinks are not worth the prices especially if I have to fix it. But the real boss was my cappuccino...not capuchin monkey (I wish). We decided to split a coconut thing, and were pleasantly enamored with it's taste and mouth-feel. Came here for a Saturday afternoon coffee run. I got a 12oz almond milk latte. Their drinks are 2shots of espresso by default. The espresso was quite strong, but the almond milk was a bit flavorless/not foamy enough so it tasted bitter than what I prefer. However their coffee is super cheap compared to most of the other coffee shops in this area: $3.5 for 12oz latte, $.5 for alt milk (before tax). The staff here were super nice too. read more

The best oat milk latte I have ever had is made here!! I'm not sure exactly what it is because they don't adds anything strange... they said they spent months finding the best oat milk that foams up and doesn't clump or fall apart. They also have damn good espresso. Together, it makes the richest, most flavorful, almost a little coconutty, oat milk latte! They also have soy and almond milk, plus Hotchata (made with rice milk) AND they make Cubano and Vietnamese coffee! What a find! The interior is very Seattle grungy but they have lots of fun plants and rotating art displays. Some very fun art! Food - they have a variety of breakfast sandwiches (from White Knuckle), burritos, pastries, and paninis with decent vegetarian options In non-Covid times, they have lots of tables and chairs for lingering and working, which would be very nice given the cozy corner location and huge windows. Now the tables are stashed away, they have hand sanitizer, and enforce mask wearing and distancing. They also sanitize the pens. The people here are so nice. So cheerful! i have been here twice, in hopes that the second time would recover my first experience here. first time i got a matcha latte and im pretty sure they didn't even put matcha in it (image) i gave the benefit of the doubt of the color and tried it and it was quite literally milk and almond syrup. disgusting. i then came back again with my friend and i got a pumpkin spice latte and she got a maple latte. both of ours tasted NOTHING like what the description of the drink was, and so bad we both threw them out. the staff is nice but the drinks are god awful. read more
