Caffe Ladro is a popular coffee chain in Seattle and the greater Seattle area. They are most famous for their Deep Dish Apple Pie (which is a must-try)! Another plus about Caffe Ladro is that they use high quality milks and plant milks (including Minor Figures Oat Milk!), and not just the standard Kirkland brand milks. Over the course of several visits (since it's very close to where I work), I've tried... GAME, SET, MATCHA - frozen blended matcha with a soy base. It is basically their rendition of a matcha frappucinno. I got it with oat milk and even though it was quite sweet (I don't know if you can adjust the sweetness or not since the blender mix is premade), the texture was super smooth and the least bit gritty. It had strong matcha flavor and I appreciated that they sifted and prepare the matcha right in front of you with a traditional whisk and chasen. I will note that the matcha looked quite dull and oxidized (definitely culinary grade), but in a latte or frozen drink it doesn't matter that much. MEDICI - orange and dark chocolate mocha. It tastes EXACTLY like a dark chocolate orange. If I'm honest, this drink was wayyyy too sweet and you can't really taste the coffee. I would order 25% sweetness if possible for this drink because I got a sugar rush in every sip. That said, I appreciate that they put a little Orange rind twist in your drink for decor and extra flavor. LATTE - this is my usual go-to and I like to mix it up by trying out different syrups (which they have everything from raspberry to maple to coconut). As someone who normally likes 50% sweetened drinks, I actually get full sweetness here as they don't overdo the syrup. Their coffee is relatively smooth. Service is always wonderful which is the main reason I'm giving them 4-stars. The baristas are friendly and even know my manager's order by heart! Prices are steep (but that's just coffee prices in general, especially in SLU). They have a rewards program, but it takes quite a while to get any reward. As far as atmosphere, it's quite cozy. They have merchandise for sale, but there's no place to sit inside the cafe. You have to take it to go or sit in the Fairview common area. TIPS: - Caffe Ladro has Happy Hour two hours before they close when you can get 50% off pastries. - Bring your own reusable cup for 10 cents off your order! So bitter ! The latte art was cute but it didn't taste very good. There was not much flavor. And they gave me a different coffee than I ordered. I tried to order the Medici but when they gave me my order they said the Gibraltar, looking at the menu I believe I did get that one instead. The barista seemed kind of annoyed and in a rush even though I was the only one there, getting a coffee to-go, and it was not closing for another hour. It was quick though and the interior was nice - it was bigger than I expected and there was lots of seating inside. They sell a lot of merchandise too, there were items such as Caffe Ladro mugs and coffeemakers to buy. It was not very busy or crowded at all. Consistently excellent lattes. A nice clean location. Friendly service. This is in-line with the other excellent Ladros. They also have a top-notch rewards program, and a nice selection of coffee-related gifts. My only nits are: 1) Sometimes they forget the BYO cup discount 2) It's a pain to tip when you use the Ladro card - you have to ask for a printout every time, which is wasteful and slows things down Also if you don't have a rewards card it's a bit more expensive than similar nearby places. Cashier and barista were nice, and the oatmeal raisin cookie was really tasty - on the softer side rather than crunchy, which is my preference. There is some seating, but note that there are no outlets as far as I could see. This Ladro location just opened up a few weeks ago, and it definitely feels new--the decor is beautiful and comfortable, and the entire presentation is very orderly and clean. The cafe occupies a small corner of the 400 Fairview building--it has doors to the street and is open on one wall to the rest of the building. I came here late but it doesn't seem to be a crowded location--people tend to grab a drink and move on. There is really nothing to complain about. Plenty of seating for its size: total of 18 metal stools and chairs set at two bars (one high one low). No tables, so this may not be a great place to meet with others if table space is required--but for single or two-person parties this setup is pretty ideal. The prices are very reasonable--only $2.70 for an espresso doppio, and the most expensive drink on the menu is a 16oz mocha for $4.90. Kathleen was my barista today and she helpfully explained the three "Signature drinks." Medici = orange-zest mocha Gibraltar = espresso with slightly cooler milk (ask though--that's a very weak description) Shakerato (pronounced Shah-kerr-ah-toe) = espresso mixed with cane sugar in an ice shaker. I got this (pictured) it was very good! Got an Americano afterwards (decaf espresso this time) and it is wonderfully smooth. Lastly, this corner is a large bus stop--if people-watching while you drink/work is your thing? Definitely consider this location. Free public wifi, closes at 6pm on weekdays, and hardly crowded--an excellent spot for some solo-coffee enjoyment. read more

Beyond terrible service and bad operations. I came here today 7/25/19 with my service dog. My dog was friendly and other customers were petting him. The staff called the 250 lbs 6 ft tall black security guard in a blue shirt. He asked me what disability I had and what kind of service my dog performed. He said "let me tell this. it was not in the list of allowed disabilities in this building." He also asked me not to come back again. After I walked out of the store, he was chatting with the staff and pointed at me. I was promised that I would be refused service based on my disability. wow. Came here before during business hour and was told they were not ready. So I waited 10 minutes outside then the door opened. Bakeries were still in the box instead of on the shelf. I was told they had regular stuff in the box. Maybe because I came from the midwest, I expect punctuality from a good running business. read more

Coffee is excellent, though on the expensive side (unless you use their gift card/rewards program). I am hooked on their beautiful decaf, which is divine in an expertly-prepared oatmilk latte and also shines on its own in a pour-over or Americano. My one gripe is how often I'm challenged as to whether I actually want a large size beverage. Yes, I do. As a Seattle resident, I have some familiarity with coffee beverages and sizes, and I am sure that at 7:30 am, with at least 12 hours of work ahead, I do in fact want the Big Girl size. read more

I love coming to this location when I need a quick coffee. This location is pretty central in the SLU area (same building as Kai Market and MBar.) The shop is bright and spacious with decent amount of seating. There's also free wifi in the entire lobby of the building with outlets for laptops. It's a great place to wind down and people watch on the patio as well. read more

What good coffee. Strong like I like it. Super nice staff. I don't think they are pretentious at all. Always a friendly face when I go. I frequently walk a bit farther to just come here and bypass other coffee shops. What truly makes me happy here is their Vegan Oat Bar! This bar is sooooooooo good, but don't let the vegan status fool you, its not all that healthy and a huge calorie eater ( yes, I looked it up) . But it sure tastes amazing. It's also located in a cool building-400 Fairview that gives off this amazing vibe. It's located in their hall but you can easily access them from the street.
